Top 5 best female singers
The winner of last week's poll about the best female live singers (Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Avril Lavigne) is Demi Lovato with 2501 votes. Two weeks ago (Christina Aguilera, Adele, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Alicia Keys) the winner was Lady Gaga.
As we promised, every week we will have a series of five singers and for each poll you will have a week to vote. Only five singers will be the finalists. This week we propose Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Madonna and Kylie Minogue.
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey has won numerous awards, including two Grammys in 1990 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best New Artist for her debut single "Vision of Love". Carey has received the Billboard Award for "Artist of the Decade" and the World Music Award for the most spectacular sales.
She has entered history as the only female artist to have 18 #1 songs on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. In 2003 she embarked on a world tour for the promotion of the album "Charmbracelet" for which she swapped the Diamond Record, certifying sales of over 100 million copies worldwide.
Her tenth studio album, "The Emancipation of Mimi", released in 2005, was produced by The Neptunes, Kanye West and Jermaine Dupri and became the best selling album of 2005 in the United States. As far as her voice is concerned, Mariah is able to cover all the notes from alto to soprano and produce a 5-octave vocal range. The highest note she has reached thus far is a G#7 during two live performances of "Emotions" in 1991, and also an A2 in her hit "My All". (excerpt from InRumor)
