They proved to be inseparable during a recent summer break, but despite the apparent intensity of their abrupt romance James Packer and Mariah Carey have not been seen together for more than three weeks. The couple have returned to work following a prolonged holiday aboard billionaire Packer's sprawling yacht, the Arctic P - from where they enjoyed a picturesque tour of the Mediterranean waters surrounding Balearic Islands Ibiza and Formentura.
Mariah, whose marriage to TV personality Nick Cannon broke down in 2014, later accompanied the Australian gambling magnate to Italian coastal town Portofino before joining him in Israel for a reported stay at his Tel Aviv home. "It's very different than when Nick Cannon was wooing her," a source told E at the time. "To her, Nick Cannon was a boy. James is a man. This trip is a chance for her to really get to know him. She hasn't 100 percent let him in yet."
But despite their summer romance the couple has not been seen together for close to a month, with Mariah taking up her lucrative Las Vegas residency while Packer pursues his various business interests - amongst them a failed $4 million bid for an ambitious new resort on Queensland's Gold Coast.
Their last appearance came during Thanksgiving celebrations in Las Vegas on July 4. Packer, 47, has since been sighted in London, where he enjoyed a night out with friends at Marylebone bar-restaurant Chiltern Firehouse in July. Last week the soul diva posted a backstage shot dominated by an enormous bouquet of red roses as she prepared for a show at the city's Caesars Palace Colosseum.
Sources close to the songstress told TMZ claim father-of-three Packer had been "aggressively" pursuing her and was 'obsessed' with her music after he met her at her concert in Las Vegas in April. It was also been claimed that Mariah and James have already spoken about marriage.
It wouldn't be the first walk down the aisle for Kerry Packer's son, who has previously said "I do" to Australian models, Jodhi Meares and Erica Baxter, now Packer. He split from Erica in 2013 after six years if marriage. The pair share three children together, Indigo, six, Jackson, four, and two-year-old Emmanuelle.
However, one insider denied the pair were considering a speedy engagement. "They are not talking marriage," the source said. "That's ridiculous. She's enjoying his company, but she's also trying to remain cautious."
