Nick Cannon did not "explode" over Mariah engagement

Nick Cannon did not "explode" over Mariah Carey's engagement, despite a report from a disreputable outlet that embarrassingly claimed last year she was dating longtime friend Brett Ratner. Of course, Carey is now engaged to Ratner's business partner, James Packer. And Gossip Cop can once again set the record straight.

According to RadarOnline, Packer's proposal last week "did not sit well" with Carey's "ex-hubby baby-daddy". That's a mistake right there. She and Cannon are not yet divorced, as Gossip Cop has reported, meaning he is not her ex-husband at this time.

That aside, the site goes on to claim Cannon "flipped out when he first heard" about the engagement. "He blew up on her when he found out about this, because she was not the one to tell him," a so-called "source" is quoted as saying, contradicting other reports that said Carey actually gave him a heads-up in advance.

"Nick really did think that the only reason that she was with James in the first place was to make him jealous. But now he knows that he is permanently out of the love equation with Mariah," continues the alleged tipster. The outlet further deems Cannon's Instagram congratulations to Carey and Packer "snarky", but its snitch conveniently claims, "He sent Mariah flowers apologizing for his actions. He told her that he really does just want her to be happy."

Of course, no one else seemed to take Cannon's congratulatory post as "snarky". It was actually amusing and sincere. And perhaps RadarOnline has missed all the interviews over the last few months where he's said Carey's relationship with Packer has his blessing. He even recently admitted he doesn't see himself marrying again.

The webloid's tale of Cannon supposedly "exploding" over the engagement doesn't jive with any of that. Not surprisingly, Gossip Cop is told this new version of events "couldn't be further from the truth".
