It was claimed earlier this year that global superstar Mariah Carey and her future mother-in-law Roslyn Packer are "very different women". However, according to Australian magazine Woman's Day, the 46-year-old chanteuse and the Packer matriarch, 77, are getting closer ahead of the Fantasy singer's nuptials to billionaire James Packer, 48.
The glossy claims the glamorous women are "spending more time together than ever before" as they knuckle down on planning the big day. Daily Mail Australia has contacted both James' and Mariah's representatives for comment.
The reports come shortly after it was claimed by The Sydney Morning Herald in March that Mariah and casino magnate James had put their wedding planning on hold while Mariah toured Europe.
Their wedding was said to be "put on hold indefinitely". Another reason for the delay, it claimed, is the ceremony's guest list. While none of the Packer family have spoken publicly about the engagement, a friend claimed the billionaire's mother Ros and her soon-to-be daughter-in-law are "very different women".
"Ros is a woman raised in the country with very traditional values who has maintained a dignified silence for all the years she and Kerry were in the spotlight. Mariah is all bells, whistles and flashbulbs, they are very different women," a source told the newspaper.
Meanwhile The Sydney Morning Herald also reported just last month, the wedding is still happening and the pop diva is "saving herself" until her wedding night with a friend claiming the pair currently have a "mostly platonic relationship".
The couple - who each have children from previous relationships - became engaged in January after being together for less than a year. They are yet to publicly announce the date of their wedding, but for now, Mariah has been proudly wearing her engagement ring, reportedly costing $10 million.
The marriage will be Mariah's third shot at happiness, having previously been married to American rapper and TV host Nick Cannon, with whom she has two children, twins Monroe and Moroccan, five. They were married from 2008 to 2015. Before that, Mariah was married to music executive Tommy Mottola and they tied the knot in 1993 before splitting in 1997.
It will also be James' third marriage, with James being married to singer Erica Packer from 2007 before announcing their split in 2013. He was previously married to designer and former model Jodi Meares from 1999 before they called it quits in 2002.
