BRINGIN' ON THE HEARTBREAK

"Bringin' on the heartbreak" was originally a song from 1981 by Def Leppard. Fans from the British rockers criticised her cover version, but the group leaped to her defence. Guitarist Phil Collen said, "You get e-mails from fans, and they go, 'It's disgusting, it's terrible.' I said, 'No - you've got to realise that she's on our side. Someone's actually out there promoting one of our songs. You should give her all the help she can get.'"

Rolling Stone wrote about the song: "Apparently, the best thing Mariah Carey can do to put her career back on track is to cover Def Leppard. The catchiest cut on Carey's eighth album, 'Charmbracelet', is a fascinatingly overblown orchestral remake of 'Bringin' on the heartbreak'."

The video was filmed at the Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles. Luis Alberto was one of the lucky fans to be in the video: "I just got home from the making of 'Bringin' on the heartbreak' music video. It was awsome. While we were standing in line, Mariah came to the fence and said hi to her fans. We went inside the auditorium and waited three hours for her to finally shoot the video. The wait was worth it. Mariah was stunning. Carmen Elektra was there and Dave Navarro from RHCP, he played the electric guitar for the video. The performance was awesome. I can say that this one will be a #1 hit single."

Unfortunately, the single was only released commercially in a few countries in Europe, making it one of Mariah's rarest single ever.
