While the USA and Australia saw "Shake it off" as the third single off the album "The emancipation of Mimi", in Europe "Get your number" was released. The track features Mariah's trademark cooing and slick R&B crooning, it also presents something unusual... producer Jermaine Dupri actually singing the chorus. Mariah said: "'Get your number' is a song yet again that I did with Jermaine Dupri, only this time Jermaine is actually singing on the record, which I never would have expected in my life that that was gonna happen. But he was using it for his album, and he had sung the hook and it is a loop of the song 'It's just an illusion' by a group called Imagination. And when I heard it he was like, you know, Jermaine was like, 'I want to hear you singing over a loop!' And I was like 'Well OK people always criticize me for singing over loops, but there's no other loops on the record, basically, so all right, let's do it.' And when I started to resing the hook, it just didn't have the same quality as when Jermaine was singing it, because obviously we have very different voices. So I kind of made it into a duet with Jermaine singing his part on the hook and I do the verses. And a lot of people like it cause it's very, giving you kind of like a 'Fantasy' type-feeling."

Jermaine Dupri about the song: "She was comfortable so we had the chance to vibe and write and try stuff we never did before. The first record we did was 'Shake it off', then 'Get your number' which was already my song. I had a rap version and I was singing the hook. I kept thinking this is a Mariah track because people are used to her singing over club tracks and the Imagination song was a club record. I always used to like it in the club. She liked the hook so much she wanted me to stay on the hook but I wanted her to sing it. What I was trying to gun for was singles. A producer like me wants singles."

The video for "Get your number" video premiered on MTV Base's "Making the video", on October 5, 2005. The video was directed by director Jake Nava, with actor Michael Ealy ("Barbershop") as Mariah's suitor, with Jermaine Dupri starring as his charismatic self. Mariah is her usual picture of perfection and models an exquisitely seductive wardrobe.
