Mariah's appearance on the 2005 World Music Awards

The World Music Awards was taped on Wednesday (August 31) and aired today on the UK channel BBC2. The airing included Mariah's performance ("Shake It Off") and winning speech for "World's Best Selling R&B Artist". ABC will air the show on September 13th at 9:00 PM and will include Mariah's two other speeches. Here are Mariah's acceptance speech and an interview.

Mariah, seated next to Mark Sudack, Benny Medina and L.A Reid goes on stage to accept the award. Mariah: "Oh my goodness. Hey. First of all, I have to thank God, because without God, I wouldn't be standing here today. Thank you Lord for carrying me through everything I've ever been through. I'm just so grateful to everybody for all the support with The Emancipation Of Mimi, thank you L.A Reid, genius, I love you, thank you Mark, thank you Benny Medina, thank you so much to everybody out there and most of all, to all my fans who've been devoted to me and never ever stopped. I love you and I always will, thank you."

After winning World's Best Selling R&B Artist, Mariah was interviewed by the BBC: "Mariah Carey went on to win the best-selling pop female, most played single and female entertainer of the year giving her 4 awards on the night. She clearly had quite a handful when I caught up with her backstage."

BBC: With an award ceremony that basically rewards records, the biggest selling female artist of all time, [otherwise you're gonna do well] but coming scoopful... that's pretty remarkable.

Mariah: You know what? It's been a blessing. This whole year really has been an incredible gift. I'm just grateful to God for everything that I have and it's prayers answered and so it's a lovely thing.

BBC: "The Emancipation of Mimi" came out at the back of a wobbly time for you. See it just kicked in and just shown the world that Carey's back with a vengeance.

Mariah: You know what it is? I never went anywhere. It's all about I think careers that are lasting have to go through peaks and valleys and then you appreciate things more when you get to a really great place like this and I think that I wouldn't have been able to get to this place without going through difficult times 'cause it helped me creatively.

BBC: So how do you rewind, sorry, unwind after this?

Mariah: Probably go home and have a little dunk in the hot tub and who knows.

BBC: So milk and cookies I understand are a nice welcome.

Mariah: Milk and cookies are always fantastic. a little morsel of a cookie though or we can't wear the ensembles.

BBC: Let me tell you the ensemble is looking fine this evening. Thank you so much for talking to me. Congratulations really.

Mariah: Thank you so much.
