So, I've found one episode where Mariah is referenced (not the one I remembered) but I can't figure out what exactly they say about her. In case someone would like to help, you're welcome. Here's the link (the reference is around 5:30, something alone the lines of "He's resourced every something something that Mariah Carey's black).

In case anyone was/is a fan of the show, could you direct to the episode that includes a Mariah reference? I remember watching it, but I have no idea which season or episode is. Thanks.

Demo / Alone in Love (80,566)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
Remember a couple of years ago when there were some leaks of Mariah's demo on YouTube? There were snippets of Vision of Love, Someday, Vanishing and Alone in Love. The Alone in Love videos have all disappeared and I was wondering if someone has saved them or knows whether they are somewhere available. Thanks.

It's just a photo (80,536)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
I can't even know what to say about the flood of commentary following one simple photo of Mariah in the studio. For crying out loud, it's just a photo of her in the studio. Someone wrote she's a mess. Where's the mess exactly? Just because she's holding a glass of wine she's having a breakdown or something? Or does this mean she's not taking music seriously? What do you think music making is, going to school? Do I have to remind you of legends like Marvin Gaye who wrote masterpieces while being stoned? And I'm not even implying that MC is or should be stoned to write music, but do you really know what exactly has gone behind the scenes behind some of your favorite hits? My goodness.

"Don't Forget About Us (Desert Storm Remix)" (80,387)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
While I do like "Don't Forget About Us," I have to admit that I love this remix and consider it to be superior to the original version. I love the harder beats and grittier overall edge, and the lyrical mood of the song is way better conveyed through the new vocal arrangement and melodies. For anyone that would like to revisit this remix, here it is.

Great post Mara. I feel the same way, too. Gorgeous Mariah, excellent performance. And can we talk about finally singing the climax of "Hero" live again? Hallelujah.

Off topic / Nile Rodgers (80,039)
by Billy from Greece
| |

I think it would be great if MC worked at some point with Nile Rodgers. He is a true musician and a genius in his own right. Did you know that he is in the credits of "You Need Me", the guitar part? So, I guess they have worked together.

Take 2 (80,014)

This woman gives me life. When I saw the post on her Instagram, I swear I got energized myself and went back to do some work. Apart from all the rest positive and to the point comments, I just admire that she can still show perseverance, along with her vulnerability. She is truly one of a kind.

Nikki, I really love when you answer back with receipts, in the most substantiated way possible, especially to posters that are just plain judgmental, bitter and self-righteous.

"Charmbracelet" anniversary (79,621)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
Happy fifteenth anniversary to an album I hold dear to my heart. For me, CB is a transitional album, that took "Mariah" to "Mimi" and one that sort of signaled a new era for her. "Lullaby" and "Subtle Invitation", along with "Through the Rain" and "My Saving Grace", are some of my most beloved songs. There's plenty of gems on here. I won't say that it is Mariah's most accessible album, but it certainly is one of her most intricate and satisfying as a whole, especially lyrically. Just a unique moment in time for the lambs that experienced that era, because it sustained our patience and belief in MC. It was during those days that Mariah cemented her cult fan following, I think.

Beacon / first show (79,616)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
Following the slayage that was the concert a few days ago, I won't lie, I got teary eyed watching clips from the first Christmas show. Forget that she looked gorgeous, like a goddess. Forget that she sounded phenomenal, impeccable. Above everything, she seemed to be well, "together". I am so happy and grateful to see her like that again. It only makes me angry at the same time to think what that disgusting woman and her idiotic daughters brought upon Mariah the previous years and how they were the source and reason of so much misfortune. But alas, that is in the past and Mariah is back. Amen.

Hi Licia. Yes, the one I posted is from the St. John Divine concert. The one you posted is also an excellent performance, and one I also love, especially the intro.

I'm obsessed with this performance. Even Mr. Sony himself wrote in his memoir that "it still stands out to me as one of the greatest live vocal performances of all time" (274). On that I agree.

1997 interview / "Lead The Way" (79,551)
by Billy from Greece

This is an interview after the release of Butterfly where Mariah mentions that she had already written one song for her movie project. We later found out it was "Lead the Way". Just for anyone wondering because I think this topic has come up again at some point.

Mariah Carey has moved past her failed engagement (79,525)

Great interview. I particularly liked the following statement: "It's really interesting because as we go through different stages as artistes you do see the peaks and the valleys, and it does seem so much sweeter after you've kind of fallen and you figure out how to get back up."

"Mariah Carey's extraordinary voice and influence" (79,518)
by Billy from Greece
| |
|
|
Wow, this almost made me emotional. Especially after all the articles on Butterfly's twentieth anniversary that acknowledged Mariah's legacy so unanimously, it feels bittersweet that we're at that point in time where we look back and see the impact that this woman has had on our culture. And she was only a baby while taking the world by storm.
