About May from Denmark: Following MC music since day 1.

Re: About holiday projects (57,154) (57,160) by May from Denmark
Thanks so much for the swift response. I'm even more excited now, squeeling like a little girl yeey haha. I love Christmas themed things. I'm just guessing but surely the Hallmark movie will go directly to video, generally they do that with movies with holiday subjects. I would really like to see Mariah once more in the big screen. Right now, I'm truly glad for all the new music that might come on the way. She is Christmas genius. Thanks again for the good info.

Re: A Christmas Melody (57,152) (57,153) by May from Denmark
I thought it was Brett who was going to direct the movie for Hallmark and that's why RatPac was going to have a hand in it but it seems it's not like that neither, I'm truly confused as well. I'm amazingly happy that it is Mariah who is directing it though, because she is great at that. I hope she does appear in her own movie, even if it's for a little bit, maybe singing a festive song.

Re: JD / Babyface (57,145) (57,151) by May from Denmark
That song is so beautiful. It was the only reason I bought Babyface's album back in the days and the only one I owned, not to say Mariah put a hand in that album as well so I was delighted, the whole album was really a charm. I also agree with all the ones who said Mariah should work again with Babyface, but as a duet rather than one or the other being in the background. Their voices go so well together. What a blast from the past. I too wonder where has he been as of late?

Re: New pic (57,056) (57,066) by May from Denmark
I liked her look. I love that dress. I think the reason why she looks more mature is because the strong make up, we are too used to seeing her in her usual well suited and lovely nudes and peaches. If anything to me it signals confidence. A more relaxed dress was the one she wore for the Harper's Bazaar event, I never saw her wearing that dress before and it looked beautiful, I liked the stars and moons details and the way the fabric floated when she walked. I love that jacket, but I felt something else would have gone great with that dress. I actually thought that she had an up-do, but it was her classic pony tail, nonetheless when I saw at first glance I thought she had cut her hair short. I definitely think, that at this stage, with her age and the current weight she would actually look lovely with a modern short haircut. But I guess it would be too weird, she seems to love the long hair.

Re: Mariah, reveal yourself this instant (56,975) (56,984) by May from Denmark
I know. I remember that. I'm actually thrilled that it's going to be sparkly. I really can't wait. I love champagne/ tan/ golden/ brown shades, I always feel I have found the perfect one, until I find the next shade that it looks almost similar, probably one shade lighter or darker haha. Shimmer just makes it all the most amazing. I wasn't very happy with the nail polish from OPI because I personally don't think it's a great brand even when it's very popular, it has great pigmentation in one application but it doesn't last very long and the nail polish gets very lumpy with the time so you got to add other soft solvents. I like the Maybelline line "Color Show" and Sally Hansen line "Diamond". I would really like if Mariah launched some new nail polishes with Maybelline. But right now, I'm utterly happy with the upcoming MAC stuff. I wouldn't mind a new perfume (available to Europe as well, unlike "Dreams" which I can't even get from the UK as an imported to the country). So far M is still my very favorite one, it lasts forever. And the Lollipops I don't find them very appealing except for "Mine Again", they don't last very long at all and have poor silage. I also enjoyed for some time "Forever", I mostly bought it because I love anything from the 20s and the bottle looked just like the art from the time. Keep up those good vibes.

So so... deaf (55,837) by May from Denmark
I loved the parts Mariah sang. With her voice going strong I thought we were going to have one of those full blast belted endings. But I agree, it seemed abrupt. I disliked Montana, he sounded sleepy through the whole record, I truly believe the sudden ending of the song was because he made them all fall asleep. His songs and his rapping are terrible, I don't understand what was he doing there. I think that with a small rap by TI somewhere before the ending and just the part Justin sang would have sufficed. Mariah seems to still have the magic in her fingers but somehow is having a difficult time mixing the pot.

To Vegas and Infinity (52,746) by May from Denmark
I love you Edward, you're such a grounded person. I will be taking a break from the board, because while it is my guilty pleasure to read it, the vibe and tone hasn't been great lately. I have a happy life and I much rather enjoy my art, my garden, my daughter and husband in this vacations of hims than coming here to read unpleasent posts. My husband yesterday gave me the surprise that we will be going to Las Vegas, after we visit part of his family in the US, which was a trip planned last year. I won't let anything spoil this amazing feeling. I will probably be checking the board in a week or so to see how people are enjoying in the early stages of MC's show. While I was going to take the break before the trip (which is scheduled slightly end of this month) I will be taking an early one. I'm hoping for Mariah to do nice, just like in her last Vegas show. But I feel this one will be a special one.

We are all different individuals (52,704) by May from Denmark
And as such we all have different tastes. Why can't people just simply respect someone's opinion and move on, if it upset them that much either ignore it or argue back in a miderate way. Why always that desperate move to insult others or label them, if it's not goats it's haters and if it's not that then the "not true lamb". Not everyone has to like the exact same things 100 percent of the time. We all love Mariah music, we all love her as the person she shows to us, we all love her past and we are concern for her future. I didn't love Obsessed when it came out as much as I loved Heartbreaker back in the days, but that hasn't stopped me from buying Obsessed, from playing it on repeat endless times because I love the video (I die for a Mariah doll) and I even have it as my ringtone (love it when people call me and I'm in a public space and it goes "boy, why you're so obsessed with me" haha). Just because one dislikes a song, from her incredibly long catalogue, it doesn't mean that oneself is a hater. Maybe the new song will grow for some when the video hits if it's good, maybe I will like it more because of that reason just like it happened with Obsessed. But right now I'm not much into the corny lyrics like the corny line in "corny like Fritos". Somehow the word Fritos completely turns me off. But that's me and that's my opinion. You are all free to disagree as much as you want but let's keep up some respect here. And this comes from someone who never used the word "enabler".

Infinity restrain (52,696) by May from Denmark
I don't really feel much a restrain in her voice, if anything is just thinner. But in all honesty I think the problem is that her voice in that songs has a lot of filter, someone described it best by saying that she sounds far from the microphone. To me sometimes it almost sounds like it was not mastered, iTunes put a description in the song saying it's the "mastered version" but it doesn't feel like it. The song for me has some ups and dows but no matter, the general consensus is that it's appealing, people (non fans) are liking it. I think the video will help a lot bump the song in charts.

Ethan / lyrics (52,693) by May from Denmark
It's funny, you have just done a mash up of all the lines I dislike from those songs and the songs I hear the least from Mariah's catalogue haha. Except maybe for the Patron line the rest does nothing for me. I do believe I blasted Migrate for a good while because the beat in that song is sick, and the beggining in It's Like That is also so club worthy. The video was beautiful as well, loved the entrance she made in it. She looked gorgeous.

Candy Bling is alright (52,692) by May from Denmark
But I much rather The Impossible. "Love you like my lover and my best friend" that right there is one of the best lines and I completely identify with it because that's how I love my life partner. Also the song has such sexy parts, Mariah's boice sounds so soothing and sultry in that track, it's a relaxing track and it really transports you. To me it's a really "feel good" song. The song that I like the most from Memoirs is Betcha Gonna Know, I only wished part of the lyrics were different (the tv show mentions and Mariah friends names) but it was a personal album for MC, so I can understand why she would write the song that way.

Slaying interviews / Mimi L. (52,630) by May from Denmark
I noticed exactly the same as you. She looks confident and she is answering straight without doing the whole hands swirls, hair extravaganza, funny voices. I opened my eyes so wide when one interviewed asked her in a sneaky way if she was going to have background tapes, Mariah didn't deny this, she was simply mentioning that a lot goes on (so background tapes are always a must just in case) but the way she owned it with the singing in the shower part. It was obvious the interviewer was trying to go to the rumors which say she lip synchs because she can't sing anymore, clearly Mariah stood her ground and threw that phrase to make it very clear that she can sing. This also goes as answer to the person who was asking if Mariah thought we are the ones feeling confused, she wasn't referring to that. Mariah looked upset with that question but she was firm. I don't disbelieve that she can sing but lately she has been having issues, which are bo longer rumors because they are recorded. I have no problems with her "new voice", she is still a powerful singer but it is also hood to admit that she needs to revamp a couple of songs to sing them again and sound good. She has a beautiful voice. I'm rooting for her and wishing her the best, I am eager to hear her sing some of those classics again.

MC new single (52,625) by May from Denmark
I haven't been able to write my opinion because I'm busy. When I heard it the first time I felt that I was listening to something out of Memoirs, at a point I thought it could have been a left over. The reasons for me to think that is mostly the over production and the noisy background drowning her voice at times and the fact that everytime I would stop the song another one from Memoirs would pop in my head instead. In the first listening I said to myself "no, just no". I don't know why I had on my brain that we would get something like Underneath The Stars but instead got snother Touch My Body. I take the song for what it is. It has a cheerful beat and childish lyrics, it's a fun single. I like the chorus lyrics and melody, I dislike a lot the rushed verses, the bridge is weak, the ending is beautiful with typical Mariah signature. I'm not fond of the lyrics in general but I feel it is a youthful track that it can easily attract new young fans. In fact, a lot of those who are liking a lot the song are teens, she is speaking their language, she is being "modern" if one could say. It clearly shows Mariah wants to be in and garner new fand, this track definitely does it. The single is doing good, really good in fact. Wendy tried to be mean once again and it backfired, because all the people who checked the song because of her have liked it haha. She looked stunning in the nude dress, I loved it. Her new single is not one that I would listen long or often.

So excited (52,270) by May from Denmark
I will be at bed and won't be able to listen it as soon as it hits. I have to take my daughter tomorrow to school pretty early, so at least I will be able to listen to it before I drop her off. Mega happy. I also wanted the video to come with the song as announced but since they are making it up with a surprise I will just eagerly wait for that video. Clearly Mariah wants everything to be perfect and I don't believe they will take a whole month to release the video anyway. I'm so anxious to hear the song I probably won't close my eyes tonight. On a side note, when I listened to Mariah's new message: "It's about loving yourself first before anybody or anything else in the most positive way," my husband said after it "Who said that, what a f* selfish jerk." Lol. Can't be denied that it can be misunderstood, I also cringed a bit at the idea. Love Mariah but to be honest, in my world, my child comes first every time. Unless she is specifically talking about a relationship, which perhaps, the phrase will have a whole new meaning recently when the song is out.

Debut album fav list (52,148) by May from Denmark
While I love all the songs in her debut album, the favorite ones I had in those days were: Prisoner, "Sent from up above", IDWC, Someday and "All in your mind" and "Alone in love". Amazingly VOL and LTT were the ones I heard the least in my repeat-play list. Then I learnt to love passionately LTT. SFUA to me was a gorgeous song at the time because she was the only one who used to sing with that breathy/whispery voice that sounded like an angel, hitting those low notes and suddenly then at mid song giving it all she got. It was dreamy to hear someone do so many gymnastics with the voice. Whitney was great but I never felt deeply in love with her voice, just her singing style. There were powerful beautiful voices with a lot of character when MC hit the stage like Taylor Dayne and Tina Turner but Mariah was so unique, she was at another level.

Nvm my last comment ha ha. Today Mariah tweeted she is rehearsing haha. There we go, to Infinity. Can't believe how little time is missing to be blown away.

MC Bahamas (52,079) by May from Denmark
Considering the wrap of the upcoming single and the fact that she was working for quite some time in the studio few months ago perhaps she vocalized enough before the Roc n Roe/mommy time. She will be presenting herself the 27th, that gives about a week and days for an extra rehearsel. Just guessing haha. It does seem she is confident though, not needing more time than that.

(51,998) by Mimi L. (52,001) by May from Denmark
I agree in your post that Nick Cannon might not be MC happy ending, I also think alike, Nick has a lot to grow to do still. But I don't agree in that he cannot go around dating other women, why not? They are separated and the divorce is already in place, it just takes time to finish the papers. I think is great that MC seems to have moved on and put on her star-career armour back. Before she seemed more relaxed when dropping albums but also didn't seem to be so much into it as she seems in this one, it's clear she wants a come back, she is a spotlight lady and well deserved. We don't know what really went on with Nick and Mariah and the rumors are so many I honestly will just give time to time because eventually, no secret now at days is buried that deep, it's hard. One day we will know. But I never really liked Cannon, the way he talks about women, as if we are meat products on display in a market. Though boy I'm glad both found an agreement for the kids and behave politely, I like how Mariah can keep drama away from mags even when rumours flow. She seems determined and I applaud her for standing tall.

MIAM / MCArchives vs MariahDaily (51,956) by May from Denmark
To me the difference is humongous ha. I tell you from my experience. When I was very young I would check Mariah Journal constantly, it used to be quite good information wise and it was a bit like MCArchives where they would post every cover around in magazines where MC appeared even if it as at her lowest (there was once a cover from a gossip magazine of Mariah entering her car, she had a bikini top and some jeans and she was crying). I even recall the webmaster or someone associated to the site did an interview to someone in MC team, their gallery was pretty extensive and updated constantly. One day everything changed and it was all just and only positive stuff about MC and they would only post her flattering pics. Not long ago (maybe a year or two), MariahDaily opened a community just like this one in their front page and either the WM had too much in hands or was really biased. Anybody with a critic towards MC was banned, I myself got banned for simply saying that I "wasn't team Nick Cannon" when someone brought up the subject. Then lots of random non fans/lambs came and it was havoc. It got close pretty quickly. Now it's only left the main forum but it's like this policy of only positive stuff can be posted or asked. I much rather have this site, sometimes there's fur flying in the air but at the end of the day we are free to express, free to give opinions, to be ourselves and not have to apparent to "fit". The WB here does a great job as well to keep the order.

Is she really going to give us those surprises she talked about? "Disc 2" boom. If it's true it would be so amazing.

I'm dying here (51,934) by May from Denmark
I am biting my lips so much everytime I read a review or comment on the new single. If I'm feeling so freaking anxious, nervous, excited about this next Monday I can't imagine how Mariah must be feeling. What a way to keep together. Some thanks going to Shelly, you are a sweetheart and I appreciate your kind words. On another note, boy I'm glad you are back commenting this_is_qhm (exclamations), love your posts, I was actually wondering where you have been as this is a crucial Mariah moment. I haven't built up this much adrenaline for new music fom hers since a long while. Not even for the last album, I wonder why. Mega happy new music is on the way plus hearing her singing live pretty soon "I don't wanna cry", I myself know I'm gonna cry.

Bill (51,834) by May from Denmark
Those are nice points you bring, I just simply hyperventilated myself with ideas haha but like Edward mentioned got to keep perspectives grounded and not have ridiculous expectatives. I am still at the edge of my chair for the upcoming new song and the video, I like her cover reveal idea to run the voice and all the pics she is sharing lately. I'm really rooting for her to have success in this upcoming Vegas.

To jaker20 (51,813) by May from Denmark
All I can say if "bye bye" and "wish you well" if you don't like Mariah any longer. But saying she is entering the "has been" is horrible. Paul McCartney has never been an amazing singer but he is an amazing composer and musician. Mariah is also an amazing composer. Paul is older than her and he is still putting oil into the machine all the time. He even dared to sing with the garbage of Rihanna (who can't blow a note straight) and the douche (I hope I can say the word douche lol) of Kanye. A lot of young people didn't know who Paul McCartney was (exclamations). So should we guide ourselves for what hormonal crazy teens consume or "not know"? Definitely not. So why is Mariah going to be considered a has-been when definitely Paul is not considered as such? It sounds incredibly unfair. She also gave a lot to music and did changes to it, changes which the likes of Katy Perry still milk out a lot (hip hop in her songs, hello). Without Mariah there wouldn't be all these wanna-be singers that we got today. Her album cover is not just another cover, it is a reminiscent of her #1, an inspiration from it. One has a light cover, the other has a dark cover, one is looking to the left, this new one is all looking to the right and even the title is turned the other way, the covers are like mirrors, which I think it is very cleverly done, don't know if people noticed this small details. Don't like Mariah, fine, but her 10 years were not fails but trials, her last album had gems.

Deedre aka MiTodoChop yesh (51,812) by May from Denmark
It's true about the professionalism from her team. I'm also noticing the same details, from her website, her re-tweets, casual pics, presence events (the charity for example). She is moving, which is a very positive thing. I see positive and negative things all the time, I am generally critical but I can't deny also staying positive when I see the wheel running. Thanks for bringing this up as it is a good reminder. Personally, as I'm already focusing less in the idea of the whole album and more in the single, I'm happy she is now going to Vegas and preparing everything. It's not missing long. This is just me, but I would love it if Sony produced a DVD out of this upcoming event. Vegas can put really beautiful shows. It could be wonderful to have another video of great stage performances. It's been a good while since that.

Covers (51,809) by May from Denmark
Perhaps not many people know this but lot of celebrities have their own personal "retoucher", yes, there are people dedicated to just and only do professional photo manipulation. I'm actually not sure if Mariah has her own but the companies for which she works do have, they all do. I know Madonna has her very own, is the only person who can re-touch her pictures. Not all retouchers do the same work and some have reputations, have been working with an artist so long they know all their body features and what the artist they work for likes. And there is another thing, Mariah generally doesn't really have a say as to which cover is going to go in her albums. She expressed in the past that she didn't like her Daydream pictures and yet there it is in the cover. She also expressed for this last album that she didn't choose the artwork that it would go in there and that she actually wasn't even sure about it. I bet the same was in this case, she went, she looked her best and then the pics were retouched. I don't believe Mariah has been, not even once, those artists who get involved into the album art, probably she might feel is not her area of judgement even tho it is her face they are using. I take the picture for what it is, just her looking pretty in the cover in a simplistic way, that's it. I'm afraid re-touch has always existed, since the silver screen days when they used to retouch faces of A-celebrities for more glow and erase freckles and blemishes of those who had them.
