Re: Tea shirts (80,410) (80,412) by Andrew from UK
In the hope that I will be proved wrong, I am not certain there is an renowned phrase that "You can't count Mariah Carey out", lest it be, like most things, an unfounded opinion moulded into truth. Ten years since success. Since then, she's gone from one disaster to another. As a genuine question, at what point in the past ten years could we have counted Mariah Carey "in"? I ask this without "hate" or such nonsense. Genuine question, what is success now?

Re: Will we ever see a new album? (80,407) (80,411) by Andrew from UK
The person to whom you are replying to is more accurate than you. "80%"? From what source? Also, you smudge Whitney's contribution to Mariah's sound which is patently absurd and you denigrate Madonna for having no sound and merely following trends. Your message, though admirable in intent, is, at many points, absurd. Mariah is, undeniably, an artist that has achieved much and effected much change, but her achievements stand alone and become less respectable when defined only by disparaging comparison to other artists. There is much to be critical of Mariah's repetition of formula and unwillingness to try new things. Yet, without need for debate, at her peak she was intuitively the leader in how vocalists should lay down vocals. I realise, somewhat, the irony in my own post, here. But your post is nonsense. The original post was insightful, seemingly without passion or prejudice. However, I love Canada. So I forgive you. God save the Queen. God save every queen.

Article: Mariah Carey "all over" Kit Harington (80,398) by Andrew from UK
Love The Sun. But I can assist them in making this article even briefer: "Mariah Carey spoke to someone." Fantastic journalists at News International.

Anyone remember when Mariah used to make (good) music instead of being a walking gimmick?

Re: Oprah (80,319) - Mariah2020 (80,342) by Andrew from UK
Yes you can't beat a bit of Oprah? You can't beat a bit of Oprah, who was good friends with Harvey Weinstein, prostletysing from on high as if she is somehow the leader of the fight against bullying and assault when she, as the most powerful woman in the media for decades with nothing to lose for speaking out, has never really said a word about it. You also can't beat her being jeered on by Meryl Streep, who defends and supports the alleged child rapist Roman Polanski and being clapped by the very people who are part of the industry problem as if they are somehow now the martyrs to the problem. People had put their careers before right and righteousness. And sorry to say, I think even Mariah did to a degree. I will say more than most she laid claim to, or inferred that, she was mistreated by people in her industry. But she's always been quite mute about it, always pausing to think of a phrase to redirect. Forgive me, sexual assault on men and women (yes men, too: for years nobody wanted to listen to Corey Feldman who actually was "brave") is totally horrific. But faux moral grandstanding when you knew about it and did [censored] all in a bid to save yourself is insulting to the victims of it. And hashtagging "me too" lies at the other end of the spectrum from "brave". So yeah, Oprah2020? Even Mariah2020 makes more sense. But I still love you much, Jade lol.

So the Globes were fabulous for these reasons: Mariah holding hands with Sharon Stone, Mariah taking Meryl Streep's seat, Mariah's cute tweet that "Marc and I will try another year" and Mariah's own globes being mostly kept in their framework. So Mariah Mariah Mariah Mariah. It was good to see and read about her with other global celebrities and not just Jermaine Dupri or some other wally in a tshirt and gold chains. It almost made Oprah's sanctimony bearable. Not quite, but almost. Mariah should definitely be writing more original songs for movies.

Re: Professional footage of NYE rehearsal (80,262) (80,274) by Andrew from UK
Your post itself is disingenuous. Noone was debating lipsync as such. I certainly wasn't and I don't bring it up: I merely correct liars or the few who are genuinely mistaken. Mariah is not even capable of holding sustained belts (esp eith vibrato) like the Hero climax anymore. She will, thus, never do it live again. If the liars stopped lying I'd stop correcting and the lip sync subject would be off the table. Simple, really.

Mrs Clarke, thou didst promise me Carey-oke. Ima hold you to that. And I'm already rehearsing. Yeah, I'm lip syncing the rehearsal but, dont worry, I'll sing live on the night.

So Mariah lipped the rehearsal but sang live on the night? Lmfao. You and your kind are not of this Earth. Tis time the mothership returned to take you back.

I actully meant to put Edina. "Eddie Eddie Eddie" is what Patsy says to Edina in Absolutely Fabulous. That's why I say it. You're quite tightly strung. Best we leave it there. I wont insult you back. It would be too easy, buddy.

Forgot to shout out to the beautiful Jade for selling me her tickets to the O2. What a rotten boy I be. For everyone's info, Jade is actually even nicer than she seems to be on here and does shockingly look like 90's Mariah in real life. So 90's Mariah isn't gone forever. Sucks to be you Eddie. Jade, Randy and everyone else I talked to through whatsapp: I changed my number and lost all my contacts (through total incompetence). Email me your numbers so I can add you again. Much love.

Re: NYE (80,226) (80,240) by Andrew from UK
"[W]hat remains is good enough for me when she put the effort and show us that she still cares." I like this sentence and sentiment. I would add the caveat that what remains must also not be substandard. Nobody is asking for the 90's. Ironically, it's only people that say "90's Mariah is gone, girlfriend" that bring the subject up. Effort and passion are key. But so, too, is quality. Just a thought, Edwina.

Re: Ratings is proof she is a draw (80,237) (80,239) by Andrew from UK
Mariah was a ratings draw only because last year she was humilatingly caught out on the intention to lip sync, with prerecord playing that she couldnt hear. It was her Mimi Vanilli moment, if you will. It is disingenuous, at best, to infer that people tuned in because they love Mariah Carey. Everyone watched to see if the humiliation would be repeated. Thankfully, not. But these views will not translate into single or album purchases unless Mariah drops her dreary formula and starts recording relevant music again. Vocal histrionics are no longer needed or indeed wanted. Unforgettable proves both points. Alas, I think Mariah will use 2018 to further cash in at the ticket offices, both as a greatest hits touring artist and a Christmas gimmick.

NYE (80,220) by Andrew from UK
The Hero climax was not live. Anybody who calls themselves a fan would be able to tell that. But yet again the propaganda machine is out in full force to try to convince everybody of the falsehòod to make Mariah look good and themselves feel better. That is to say, if you're pushing that line youre simply a liar and need to ask baby Jesus for forgiveness. And probably grow up a little bit. Other than that she did well.

Re: Setlist (80,126) (80,133) by Andrew from UK
I agree with you. And you and you and you and you, and you and you and you and you (y' y' you you you). I would possibly rather watch her badly lipsync to the original track a thousand times over whilst [censored] with sandpaper than hear that live version of Hero one more time. She really needs to get a grip. If she reminded people of her back catalogue they might actually, um, I dunno, buy it? But hey, as long as everyone gets to hear that she "wrote this song"; that'll make people like her again, right? How utterly dull. And that's the troo-ooth. I ain't gon lie bout dat.

Re: What songs should she perform? (80,098) (80,101) by Andrew from UK
I was in love with The Perfect Year when I was a kid. In terms of what Mariah should perform, she should really stay away from We Belong Together: it's so overdone, she cant sing it live (and she really has to not lipsync the same stuff this time around) and it's not really sing-along-feel-good. She should defo open with My All on stage alone to prove she can stand and sing and then surprise everyone by going into the remix. "Id give my all for your love tonight" is a great last line to make the crowd go wild for her. Then she should tell the crowd how much she loves New York and go straight into the first verse and chorus only of Fantasy Remix ("Yo New York in the house" is a wicked surprise for Times Square). "Feels like I'm dreaming but I'm not sleeping" should go straight into "Gimme your love, gimme your love" and the Heartbreaker second verse and she should bring Jay-Z on stage (hard to attack someone when they got the big boys behind them). She should end with Make It Happen because its message is perfect looking toward a New Year. She needs to keep this upbeat and remind people that she knows how to move. Please not WBT or VOL or Hero.
