Lame photos? (113,496) by TheButterflyReturns from United States
My guess is that some of the less intriguing single covers came about due to budgetary constraints, especially for "Here for It All" singles. To me, it seems like they spent almost the entire budget on the "Type Dangerous" video. Which "Crybaby" single cover are you referring to? I remember seeing several - and, of course, that song was included on the double A-side single release of CTTA in the US.

My wish for MC in 2026 (113,483) by TheButterflyReturns from United States
My wishes for Mariah in 2026:

1. Epic deluxe 25th anniversary re-release of the "Glitter" soundtrack with any and all unreleased material recorded during the 1997-2001 period of its production. There has to be more than just "Loverboy (Firecracker Original)" and "Out Here On My Own".

2. Epic deluxe 25th anniversary re-release of the "Glitter" movie with expanded special features, behind the scenes footage, documentaries, deleted scenes, all music videos, etc. on Blu-Ray.

3. Release all remixes and alternate versions of "Loverboy", "Never Too Far", "Never Too Far/Hero Medley", "Don't Stop (Funkin' for Jamaica)" and any of the additional singles that were slated to be released.

Charmbracelet to Caution vocals compared (113,451) by TheButterflyReturns from United States
Perspectives or information that reflect poorly on Mariah are not ipso facto "misinformation". Mariah's not perfect, and we should not pretend that she is. Celebrities and public figures work painstakingly to project an image of perfection or to paint themselves as victims when something reflects poorly on them, but critical consumers of media should always be skeptical of this.

Stella and company should not have brought those lawsuits, but Mariah put herself in compromising positions and was behaving very erratically in 2016. She seemed to be having some sort of manic episode. I love Mariah's music and care about her wellbeing, but she has to take proper care of herself if she has a condition like bipolar disorder.

Mariah disclosed the bipolar diagnosis because she, unfortunately, chose to hire and work with Stella and displayed really erratic behavior in front of the wrong people (aka Stella and company). Stella was wrong to weaponize mental illness, but based on what happened in 2001 and seeing the footage from the reality show, I definitely think there is some truth to what she said. Mariah's assistant from that period, Lianna, also confirmed it.

All you have to do is watch the "Mariah's World" series to see a glimpse of the erratic behavior and substance use - she and others were on camera with cannabis use, which is known to exacerbate existing psychiatric disorders. She had staff members taking semi-nude and nude photographs of her to send to Bryan Tanaka... while she was still engaged to James Packer. Mariah was an absolute mess during that period.

I disagree with the "ditch the bipolar meds" suggestion. Mariah has bipolar disorder and has been hospitalized at least twice because of it (once in 2001 and once in 2016 which prompted the disclosure of the Bipolar diagnosis). People living with bipolar disorder really have to stay on the medications in order to remain stable, or they have to make substantial lifestyle changes.

Cutting out alcohol, cutting out other recreational drugs (i.e. cannabis), developing better sleep hygiene, healthy eating, regular exercise, working with a vocal couch, etc. would likely offset any vocal issues caused by medications. Mariah seemed pretty disciplined during the Charmbracelet World Tour, so we know she is capable of pulling it together while using bipolar medications. At that point, she was in good shape physically, the pre-recording use was minimal, and she seemed to be taking good care of herself.

My worry is that Mariah may have gotten hooked on opioids or other prescription medications after injuring herself during the 2013 "#Beautiful" remix music video shoot. As much I disliked Stella's impact on Mariah's career, I do wonder about her claims that Mariah has a substance abuse problem.

Glitter at 25: I love it then, I love it now (113,403) by TheButterflyReturns from United States
I think many refer to it as an album because all of the songs are Mariah songs (some with guest artists featured). In contrast, "The Bodyguard" soundtrack contained about six songs by Whitney and seven additional songs by other artists. Soundtracks are most often compilations of songs from various artists (but not always). I remember Mariah originally planned to record six songs for the soundtrack but then decided to do twelve, which made it more like a proper studio album than a soundtrack.

I'm glad Mariah is embracing the soundtrack and the movie. The movie is not the best, but I still think it holds its own in the context of mainstream films by recording artists crossing over into movies. It has a fun, escapist vibe that contrasts with the more serious role in "Wisegirls".

I just wish Mariah had been able to put out "Loverboy" with the "Firecracker" sample and to properly promote "Never Too Far" as the follow-up single. Both could have been substantial hits and would have helped overshadow the shortcomings of the movie.

Glitter at 25: I love it then, I love it now (113,397) by TheButterflyReturns from United States
I'm super excited for the 25th anniversary of "Glitter". I remember venturing out on 9/11 to purchase it and having the "Loverboy" CD single cover taped inside of my locker in middle school. I loved that Fox Family documentary about the making of the film and soundtrack. I loved Mariah's campy visits to TRL in the Rainbow and Glitter eras. All of it made my teenage gay boy heart so happy.

I was very intrigued to see that both the soundtrack album and the movie have been pulled off from streaming services. This must mean that we are getting deluxe/alternate/unreleased material related to both the soundtrack *and* the movie. I have a feeling that there are going to be some epic surprises in store for us. Mariah was working on "Glitter" basically from 1997-2001, so I can only imagine what is buried in the vault.
