About May from Denmark: Following MC music since day 1.

Re: Classic Mariah (84,504) (84,527) by May from Denmark
I honestly was waiting for that jazz and blues mini album. She doesn't have to throw a whole album with 15 songs, but a mini of 5-6 songs in a mature lightning like Diana Krall would have been amazing. She could re arrange some of her classics and throw one new song and that would have been great. She needs to venture other scenes. At least for a while.

Re: Nick Cannon’s mind games (84,507) (84,526) by May from Denmark
He asked her for the divorce. The guy had a child with someone else. He has been completely moved on since forever. It was Mariah who took time to heal and probably held the door open for the longest. People, give it up. Mariah Cannon ain't happening ever again. Cannons.

Re: JLo at AMAs (84,405) (84,423) by May from Denmark
How sad that we have to talk about convincing lippy and pre records on what should be a live performance. How much our expectations have lowered. Mariah needs to ditch the prostitute shoes because she obviously can't use them like a professional one and just wear something comfortable for once, she is always in the middle of the performance complaining about her shoes but never leaving them aside. I'm not asking her to dance but a least walk. That's my expectation for the next show. To see Mariah walk without using her personal Bry-cane. Just like she did in iHeart.

Vulgariah or... Bianca? She should have released an entire album as Bianca. Hilarious. But more fitting.

Re: A message for Adam (84,331) (84,380) by May from Denmark
I remember Kelly said after she left people were gonna realize how things really are and the tricks, that you can only fool people for so long. I thought she was being a bitch, later with the time I was more inclined to think that there might have been a fair amount of manufacturing. Perhaps not at the get go, that was all raw Mariah, but maybe later. There's no denial Mariah loved the attention, she always did, was too obvious, she loves the glitz, the glam, the money. She complained a lot about Mottola but only dropped him when she was at her peak and done everything to follow the formula given. I wonder if she only writes happy easy uplifting tunes since E=MC2 or ballads that have to do with her relationships because there's no more actual struggle like poverty to write something like Make it Happen or any more discrimination to do Outside. It's like the most emotional view she ever gave us from her acquired fame was Looking In, which is to me, one of the few truly sincere songs she has written. Mentions to alcohol and other things like that have been there, like in The Roof, but somehow it seemed fitted to the context. I don't like to assume and such. Maybe she is scared or afraid to write about her real struggles. She has only been writing what she wants for herself since E=MC2, and she said that, she is only doing music she wants to do. Meteorite and YDKWTD seemed promising, I even liked "I Don't", there was something dark about it and GTFO. I have some hopes for the new album.

Re: With You - nostalgia (84,327) (84,378) by May from Denmark
When people say the Mariah they grew up with it gives me the impression they want this woman who can throw her lungs out of her mouth, which she can't anymore. I don't think they necessarily are referring to the type of music. The woman used to have a lot of power and energy, and now at days not, also the stage presence has decreased, is that as a whole they refer to the old Mariah? Maybe more pop songs less R&B? Mariah always said she never liked doing pop, she was asked for by the bosses because it was what sold.

Re: With You - Andrew - nostalgia (84,287) (84,304) by May from Denmark
I've been there. I took a break after Memoirs, and a big hiatus after Crapfinity. I also wanted to move on so many times, I can't listen to her live videos anymore, sincerely I want to cry sometimes when I see her struggle because her runs aren't there, her belting is limited and I sweat when she has to do a head note and squint my eyes thinking "here it comes", all she can do is that whistle register that doesn't do much for me unless It's a song like Bliss or HateU. I still want to go see her Christmas concert because is classic.
But her music seems stagnant, I did like MIAM and think is a good body of work but is not an album that I bothered listening full more than 3 times, I only listened to a selected amount of tracks and now at days I haven't listened to it in a long time, I feel that Memoirs had more memorable songs.
GTFO was a promise for change, something a bit out of her mold but not far away. With You is beautiful but bland, all of us who follow her since day 1 know that this song in the past could have been a nice filler. Not vocally interesting like My All, not powerful like Without You, not lyrically meaningful like Anytime You Need A Friend, even tracks that weren't big had something in it that made them so special, like Reflections or Outside.
I was hoping we would get freshness, new sound, new Mariah as a whole. I love her voice and she continues to write good material but With You, in all It's niceness feels more of the same.
I won't move on yet until I listen to the whole album. GTFO opened the door to more for me. But I'll admit it out loud, I had not bought her music in a long time, not too worry as she doesn't need my stinky miserable dollar haha, she should invest in videos if she wants me to pay, I'll pay her for videos.
If I'm still here is only because she has done a lot for me in the past with her music and I feel I owe her, so I stick around even in the lows. It doesn't mean I won't speak my mind if it's negative. I don't hold grudge against Andrew and few because I know what they mean all in all, even if their words may sound harsh or like they are always negative.

Re: With You (84,295) (84,300) by May from Denmark
Yes, I agree with the bubble reference. I can't relate to some of the lyrics she has been writing since The Emancipation, at least in WET we all know the Nutcracker-like talk of Barbara Walter and such, a big example of the bubble is Betcha Gonna Know where she mentions all this people I care zero about and all this brand name products that most can't afford, It's all Mariah's World. I loved that song and could have sang to the top of my lungs if she suddenly didn't mention her circle of temporal friends.
I don't mind the netspeak and street talk, I think it's ok. At least is not another bag of Doritos haha.

I'm with you Mimi (84,294) by May from Denmark
I really enjoyed the song. Lead single material? No. It seems like a leftover from MIAM though it is very Charmbracelet sounding. I do recall that right after MIAM she was working on some music and she announced a couple of times, when Stella was still in the picture, that she was working on an album. Considering the direction GTFO seemed to point to, I find it strange she would come with this new single as the main opener for her upcoming album. Maybe she was trying to give the fans what they always ask for, more mushy emotional music. I think With You is a beautiful song, there is a catchy thing about, it's not monotonous or boring, it's solid and quality material but not fresh enough, I like the lyrics. Anyone else having problems understanding some of the things she is singing lately? I had this same problem with GTFO and previous singles, it's like she is pronouncing some stuff like between her teeth or in a weird way, also a bit more nasal, it's like she is dragging some of the words. Can't explain. I had to listen to With You a couple of times before getting the whole lyrics and yet there are words I'm still like "huh?"
I'm thinking that the reality is that she wanted GTFO to be the main single but it didn't receive the expected attention. It was good enough. But her YT had in days up to 4 million views while Gaga first day had 10 million. And both videos were equally boring to me though but Gaga's video had a story going on. Mariah misses opportunities, we all want another WBT video for love songs. Hopefully With You won't dissapoint. But I don't expect much. The photoshoots are gorgeous, love them, very glamorous.

Toni Braxton featured? (83,870) by May from Denmark
Has anyone seen the supposedly list of tracks for her new album? It has a couples of features and one of them is Toni Braxton. Is there any realiable source? I personally don't want her to sing with Toni, much rather have Beyonce. Just rumors?

Re: GTFO rollout (83,824) (83,832) by May from Denmark
It's Like That was a powerful party song to be honest, which GTFO is not. Also the season of release is different and the format of the video as well, remember ILT had a "to be continued" which made it all interesting and one could guess more was coming. With the GTFO we don't have a storyline or anything, the song doesn't even have an actual ending but a fading one and the video was a beauty video. Even "I don't" had more storytelling than this new video. It's what always plays against Mariah when it comes to YT views for example. Her ample cleavage is distracting and that might have worked in the end of the 90s and early 00s when having big tatas was all the rage (even Paris got hers) but not anymore, no one cares. I was never much of a fan of Touch My Body but the video was so much fun I watched it many times. She needs better videos.

Re: She didn't, but now she does (83,805) (83,812) by May from Denmark
Hilarious post Edward. I agree with the video. What happened to Mariah's videos? They look beautiful and she looks gorgeous but nothing happens. They are boring. She can still show us dem boobs and touch herself in a more interesting setting, like "Say Something". It needs more storytelling.

Re: Cussing ruins it for me (83,757) (83,765) by May from Denmark
How about just tell the kids to not cuss without making a fuss about it. My kids probably know all the bad words on the dictionary but don't say them. I tell them children can't use bad words because they don't know when and how to use it, so it is better to not say them. Toddlers will always repeat anything back that they hear and the deal is to just not overreact. A 2 years old won't go around insulting people with such words. And bigger kids already understand the concept of not using such words because they could hurt people if they use them wrong. Not trying to get to you but I think you are making a big deal out of it.

Re: GTFO (83,754) (83,763) by May from Denmark
I agree with all this. As soon as the song started I felt that it was very modern, the kind of tune I generally get offered by Spotify on its ads. It gave me Emotions vibes in the sense that, in that album she sang very airy and almost like whispering, only that by the end she would build for belts. This new song was aligned in the same way vocally except there were no belts but it still felt fresh and beautiful.
The video felt like a mix of "I don't" and "Shake it off". Lot of sultry moments but with high quality and tasteful takes. I liked everything. I don't think it was amazing and I had to listen to it a bit more than once. I did like "I do'nt" and I'm glad this one was less harsh and had no rap/hip hop. I enjoyed the lyrics, very youthful internet kind of lyrics but with the dictionary thrown at it too haha. I love Mariah. Glad she is back on track.

If it's produced by JD will there be any freshness to it? I hope it is good. The title gives me "I don't" vibes all over again. I can't wait tbh.

Re: Criticizing Mariah / other divas and fans (83,051) (83,056) by May from Denmark
Come on guys. I've gone from here for a long time because nothing new was going on with Mariah and I was tied of seeing the same subjects. It's amazing that this talk about her voice keeps coming up. The first thing I noticed with her opening Vegas is that her voice is very weak and too coarsed, she still sounded good and had a lot of control. Some people need to face it, Mariah's 90s vocalist is dead. Reality is that I have been focusing on her songwriting and really hoping she will bring something meaningful and strong again. Dissapointing as some of her latest single were, I believe she still has a lot of great music to share. I'm esger to listen to the new album and see if there is something fresh. The waiting is exhausting.

Re: An upper respiratory infection (79,547) (79,550) by May from Denmark
Even though everyone is different I have my doubts about this all. I remember when I had an upper respiratory infection and I couldn't really move much from the bed the first days at all, my back hurt a lot, sadly then it turned into an early stage of pneumonia so I had to be in bed for a couple of days. But it resolved quickly to be honest, it took all in all about a week. She is cancelling for a fair amount of time, and then she is having pictures taken looking pretty well, she is probably on painkillers if she is there smiling just fine, then again this is the woman who sang Looking In with a broken rib and chipped shoulder. Whatever she is going through I hope is solved soon and she can go back to singing.

Re: Roc Nation / Christina (79,548) (79,549) by May from Denmark
All singers are musicians because they interpret music. Mariah Carey is a songwriter because she can create lyrics and melodies but she is not a composer because she can't read music, she only knows the very basic, which always amazed me, why she never bothered learning to read and write music. Her technic is recording melodies that come out of her head and then write the lyrics based on it, sometimes the lyrics come almost perfectly timed with the melody at the same time, she once explained this and how she does it. Then someone translates her melodies into written music and from there on the arrangements are created, something we got to see her doing with Afanasieff and Big Jim when prepping for live performances. I don't know why I felt like straw picking this haha. But I know what you mean, I always liked that Mariah could create her own set of music as opposed to singers who just do covers or rely on songwriters, no matter how amazing they are as singers, Mariah has that skill that elevates her over others.

Finally recognition (79,262) by May from Denmark
Mariah finally will be in the songwriters hall of fame, how long has she waited for this? It's amazing a lot of people up go this day don't know Mariah writes her own music even though she has said it a gazillion of times. I'm very happy for her achievement. This is a Christmas present, another title to throw when she is introduced haha. Also her new manager has been announced around and it is being said she is a bitch. Huh... don't know her so don't know.

Re: I wouldn't hold my breath (79,234) (79,254) by May from Denmark
I think a lot of people have forgotten that before Stella came into the picture Mariah was in deep waters, she had like 4 different managers in like 2-3 years, her album flopped, had no promotions going on, and then it came to tie the ribbon that terrible lipsynch in Jamaica that stained her for a fair amount of time, what about the leaked open mic that previous Christmas. Sometimes I feel people needed to put much of the blame on someone for all that was going on wrong, then Stella did make some questionable things. Was Stella to blame for no new music though? Nah, Mariah didn't want to do an album, she wanted new ventures, she got that, directing, acting, side projects, etc. Then Mariah said she was prepping new music, then nothing happened, then there were hints at a new album, then nothing happened again, after I don't Mariah said she was only going to do singles, then again it was the talk that she was working hard at the studio on a new album, that was like the third time she was caught saying that at the E. channel microphone. Is she or is she not working in a new album in the end? No one knows, only our Mimi, the elusive chateuse.

Re: Creative process (79,216) (79,224) by May from Denmark
I think it was a mix of things. Brett introduced Stella to Mariah, she probably trusted his judgement and she also maybe felt a connection with Stella because she was also a single mother, having the kids around the 24 hours. I don't wish Stella bad, as much as I made fun of her name, but there were a fair amount of things that I found unprofessional about her management. The way she expressed to the press, she should have collab with a publicity team rather than try to manage that aspect, I recall Mariah had a new whole team when Stella entered the picture but somehow they seemed to have dissapeared and Stella took over including her daughter in the ordeal. I don't know why she dragged a tweenie now teen into a world filled with very dangerous things, people can say a lot of nasty and horrible things in the internet, including adults bashing and bullying kids. I don't know what Stella was thinking, I didn't mind most of the pictures and it was better than seeing nothing on Mariah's IG, but the pictures were badly retouched and filtered, they were out of focus, badly timed, a lot of things that shouldn't go with the Mariah Carey brand and image, it looked unpolished and amateurish. I like candid pics but with a message, not the blurry mess we got at times. Obviously this looks like it will quietly die in the news, if there were to be anything bitter it would have come out already. I think it's going to be a great end of year, clean slate for next year.

Re: Stella's gone (79,195) (79,199) by May from Denmark
I wonder if the news are true at all. There's only one place this news come from and is The Blast which I never heard of. Mariah's camp nor Stella have said anything. I'm worried about Mimi and her surroundings. Tanaka looks like a shady climber using her, Brett Ratner seems to be a rapist, one man is not one or two women who came out, there are eight and the accusations mention actual rape, then Stella and her clan, if Mariah fires her as manager or Stella leaves on her own will all their other projects fall apart too? Don't think Stella might say anything because surely she signed a confidentiality contract. Mariah always makes sure to zip people's mouth, like she did with Damizza back then when he talked about a book. Hopefully if this is real it won't turn nasty. Mariah needs to clean home urgently. Tanaka should be next.
