Re: J.Lo's "management team" (88,012) (88,015) by B from USA
Jennifer Lopez was outed in this blind item.

Re: Caution the title track (88,002) (88,014) by B from USA
Caution is Mariah's most radio friendly album since E=MC2. With You is a hit on Adult Contemporary and R&B radio and is gaining momentum at both formats and I don't think Mariah or Epic are ready to abandon this project just yet.

All that exposure and she still flops.

Re: Grammys 2020 (87,991) (87,996) by B from USA
Caution will be nominated for Best R&B Album however she'll most likely be snubbed again by the Academy.

Re: Caution the title track (87,990) (87,995) by B from USA
I think Caution, Giving Me Life, and 8th Grade should be singles.

Re: Thank You, Next album (87,979) (87,988) by B from USA
I think her best album was her second album. Her new album is underwhelming.

Re: With You plus A No No (87,906) (87,935) by B from USA
Pink's Who Knew was only a moderate success when it was first released. it wasn't until Pink's next single U + Ur Hand became a hit that the song was later successfully re-released. The point I was trying to make is if Mariah's next single is a hit it could create interest in With You and help it reach a wider audience. Even if it doesn't it has done far better than anyone here ever thought it would.

Havanna was released in August of 2017 and hit #1 on the Hot 100 in January 2018.

Re: Imagine by Ariane Grande (87,865) (87,914) by B from USA
She's built her entire career on emulating Mariah. I saw an old interview her manager did before the release of The Way and he called her the new Mariah and in the same interview Harmony Samuels said they used Mariah's 90's albums as the blueprint for Yours Truly. One song is a blatant ripoff of I've Been Thinking About You. Suprised she hasn't been sued by Mariah and David Cole for copyright infringement.

Re: Dreamlover in Saudi Arabia (87,881) (87,913) by B from USA
Every song on Caution features intricately layered background vocals and digitized beats so using prerecorded tracks is necessary and almost every Pop, R&B, and Hip-hop artist does it.

Re: Dreamlover in Saudi Arabia (87,892) (87,912) by B from USA
Mariah can't sing? She may not be able to sing as well as did 29 years ago but she can still sing.

Re: Maroon 5's half-time show (87,908) (87,911) by B from USA
I'd love to see her do the half time show as long as she avoids ballads and gives us moments like this.

No, his supporters are carrying on his legacy of negativity. Sad but true.

Re: With You plus A No No (87,888) (87,906) by B from USA
Wait, wasn't I called delusional when I said could see With You following a trajectory similiar to Pink's Who Knew or Camilla's Havanna, lol. Guess everyone who wrote this era off because With You didn't storm the Billboard charts the week it debuted are eating crow at the moment.

Re: Caution v Charmbracelet (87,878) (87,883) by B from USA
Correction: However, Charmbracelet differs vocally from Butterfly and Caution. Mariah sings 90% of the album in her highly debated (and detested) whisper register whereas on Butterfly and Caution she sings in her head voice and lower registers.

Re: Caution v Charmbracelet (87,866) (87,878) by B from USA
Thematically and lyrically Caution reminds me of Butterfly and Charmbracelet. Caution's themes like Butterfly's and Charmbracelet are flirtatious enticement, celebration, reminiscence, perseverance, and rejection. However, vocally Charmbracelet differs vocally from Butterfly and Caution. Mariah sings 9% of the album in her highly debated (and detested) whisper register whereas on Butterfly and Caution she sings in her head voice and lower registers. I think Caution, Butterfly, and Daydream are a trilogy. Mariah began her metamorphosis on Daydream, emerged from her cocoon on Butterfly, and is finally flying on Caution, free from the shackles of commercial expectations.

Mariah Carey wows fans in Saudi Arabia (87,843) by B from USA
"As the first female international artist to perform in Saudi Arabia, Mariah recognizes the cultural significance of this event and will continue to support global efforts towards equality for all," the publicists added.

Why were people calling her out when her performance is helping reform entertainment restrictions in the kingdom?

Re: The Roof (87,816) (87,834) by B from USA
Agreed. If Mariah had released Butterfly after Music Box and Merry Christmas I could understand the claims that she all of a sudden changed her musical direction on Butterfly but in reality she had already done so on Daydream and her remixes. People act like she changed her sound radically when she really didn't. She's always been an R&B artist and she'd been sampling songs since 91.

Mariah doesn't want to disappoint her fans.

Re: Saudi Arabia (87,810) (87,826) by B from USA
I don't get it either. I could understand the outrage if it was a private performance for the Saudi king/prince but it wasn't so why penalize her Saudi fans because of it.

Re: Proceed with caution: Saudi threats (87,807) (87,825) by B from USA
Surely, Mariah and her management will pull out of the event.

Isn't it. Sadly, Trump's election has emblazoned the racists and homophobes.
