G.G. That tweet did give me a bit of hope but I know better than to get excited. That may be him protesting the label getting in the way of the scheduled release. His thought process may be if he can show the label that the fans are demanding the album, it may pressure them into releasing it on time. Now at the same time, they may release it quietly. They could just be willing to let her go and just let it come out with no noise. As for Justin and this YME debacle. Where is the song on the Hot 100? That's the only chart that matters as it covers all genres and formats. MC could sneeze and it be a Top 40 hit on the dance charts. I wonder where is MC right now though? In the past, MC has straight up told us "things in my professional life are hard right now". Publicly she has stated there are issues with both Virgin and Sony in the past. Why should this instance with IDJ be any different? Finally, I want the album to come out on May 6th. The whole thing with family being a priority etc. I call bs on. She completed Rainbow in 3 months. I understand she can't do that now with a family but 5 years? And I know the album was probably ready last year #723. Mariah doesn't take long for a song from start to finish. Look at Love Takes Time, Loverboy, and the first three TEOM singles. So all the mixing, backgrounds, vocals, mastering is probably a piece of cake for her at this point.

Dammit IDJ reorganization (42,429)
by Randy from USA

Well now I can stop watching the sites (Archives, MDJ and MariahCarey.com) because we now have Mariah's excuse to push the album back yet again. Unless, this may mean MC gets to control it coming out regardless of how the first single does/did? What do you all think?

Really? All of the titles were in jest. They were all about the music being delayed or why the music was delayed. I don't want anything to happen to MC nor am I making light of a painful situation. I was having a few splashes dahling and I thought it might be funny to go through the catalogue and play a little. If I was being mean-spirited, it wouldn't have been posted by the webmaster. With all of the drama and tragedy in the world: Ukraine, the missing airplane, GM recalling vehicles and this album being pushed so far back to whereas MC has won her second Artist of the Millenium award. I needed to lighten the mood. It's not that serious.

If MC has to push back the album again, I've come up with some possible titles based on her past works. Mariah Buried, Slowmotions, Music Locked, Staydreamin, Cocoon, Sprain So, Sitter, Arm-Brace-let, The Procrastination of Mimi, E=MC Where?, Mirages of an Imperfect Album.

I gave their marriage seven years when they got married and before you all blast me, I don't wish bad on anybody but it was done too quickly and they seemed too different. Whoever just posted about the album and not hearing anything (sorry I don't remember the name), I've had some splashes dahling, the album, tentatively titled, dem songs, won't be out on time. I am just wondering how Mariah will address us in an open letter. That's why I'm checking the Archives every day.

I completely agree with both of you and to be honest, I do believe the album is going to be pushed back at this point. But what the hell is she gonna tell us? She can't say "I was waiting for it to be heard the way it should be heard, chronically my full journey." She's already used that. She can't say "Right now things aren't going well in my professional life right now" like she did with Rainbow because IDJ could then sue her for a number of things. Listen, in the 90s Mariah was a machine. She released an album a year, for the most part. We've been waiting since September of 2009 for a studio (non-holiday) album. She has already gone through a release date disappointment. She hasn't been honest about a number of things throughout the years and she doesn't have to be; she's a human being before an artist. This is so frustrating though. She has die-hards and how the hell are we supposed to be sticking around for an album that is taking her back to high school? Mirage. (Only the old fans know that reference lol.)

Best and worst cover art / backlash's backlash (42,207)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
Favorite album cover: Butterfly Worst album cover: MOAIA I am so glad to see that there's a backlash over so much backlash. Yes, I agree Mariah's live vocals have been embarrassing to the lambily and yes, I agree that these are some of worst singles/songs she has ever released. (I'm sorry comparatively speaking, YME is the worst lead single she's ever released.) And yes, her interviews have been unfocused. But there have been too many people on here that seem like they want to burn MC at the stake. They are criticizing her drinking, her sanity, her marriage, her management, her font on her albums, her hair, her breasts, her clothes, her choice of interview locations and anything else. Look, I know the situation is bleak but we can't be critical of every little thing and some of these posts are mean. I am holding on to the fact that Mariah has never released a bad album. She has given us some amazing music so why can't we hold on to some of that and be a bit more positive?

Torn but I'm still in MC (42,160)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
I completely agree that MCs voice, recent releases and interviews has left something to be desired. I will say though that the criticism on this board has been way too harsh as well. I want Mariah to sound good live without lip syncing any part of a song and I want Mariah to release music that the general public (not just the lambily) will like. I do think we could ease up just a bit. Two more things. Everytime I see that clip of Kelly Price it makes my blood boil. Partially because it's true but how classless is it for you to criticize someone who gave you a chance. One should keep those comments to themselves. I could say some really mean things about Kelly but I'm sure the webmaster wouldn't post them. In addition, am I the only one nervous with the silence? May 6? Seems like it ain't gonna happen.

Listen I am a fan and I want Mariah to do well vocally, and commercially as much as anybody. But it's kind of comical that some of you think we'll see an album May 6. In addition, clueyy, YME is a done deal. I'm sorry dude.

Album pushed back? (41,621)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
Ok, so since we can see no one's buying the single, 32.000 copies sold in its first week. And someone on here said that was only the fans. I think a lot of fans slept on this one because she has had other singles sell quadruple that amount when she had no airplay like, Loverboy, TGIFY, I Still Believe etc. It's funny to me that people are thinking a release to radio is going to matter on February 24. For all of the promotion Mariah has done, if the masses were feeling it, radio would be playing it without IDJ's consent. That's happened with plenty of songs in the past whereas the label was pushing a single and radio went with something else on the album. Radio does what it wants. No miracle is going to fall out of the sky on February 24. I'm surprised radio is even part of the Billboard equation as I don't know anyone who listens to radio outside of their car. I don't think Trey Songz is a surefire way for a hit in that he did nothing for Toni Braxton's Yesterday. His last single and CD was not a big seller; he has his own career problems. The only hope I'm holding out for is that Through The Rain peaked at #81 and Charmbracelet came out on time. Do you guys think it'll be a May 6 release? Will MC release another single (her fourth without an album not counting Almost Home)?

But then my question is, what are they going to do keep releasing singles until one catches on? What if one doesn't? I understand what you are saying and somewhat agree. But as an artist with one album left, are they really going to shelve her or will they drop her? And look at Madonna's last releases. No airplay, no hit single but album was released on time, went to #1 and then dropped quickly. Look at Celine's last release. As a fan I know I am biased but I feel as though they need to release the album on time no matter how the single does. There isn't much of an option because she's not guaranteed to have a surefire single based on her record since 2008. It has been hit or miss. One thing I can say for sure though, Mariah has never put out a bad album. Some are better than others but they are all top quality in my opinion.

Album pushed back (41,432)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
What scares me the most is that with the mainstream ignoring You're Mine is that the album will be pushed back. I don't care about #1s. I'm just tired of not having new material from MC. And with the current state of music, no label takes chances. If this single flops, and I know a lot of you say it's too early to tell, the album will be pushed back or shelved. Then what happens? And let me say this. A radio date means nothing if radio decides not to play it or if the general public does not adore it. As fans, we obsess over these things. It's the masses that make it happen and no one I know is talking about this song. All the articles I read on the internet mention the song along with her breasts, Idol, dem babies, Ariana Grande etc. I don't feel good about this at all. I just want the album on time regardless of the success of You're Mine.

My two cents (41,197)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
I am a bit deflated. First of all, the single is nice, but it's not undeniable. My problem with it not being undeniable is that in the current music climate that means your album could be pushed back when it doesn't hit the top 10. I want an album on May 6 because as we have all learned Mariah does great albums even if the single choices are meh. I do wanna say that the remix is more interesting than the original. The video is boring and I am more attracted to Trey Songz in it than her though. I'm not for all the glitter and the dry wavy hair. The interview on Breakfast Club and with Sway on MTV doesn't show her in the best light but hell, I drink alot too. Good luck MC.

Furious (40,277)
by Randy from USA

I am furious with MC. Now I admit, we have been very critical of MC, but does she even know her own catalogue? She said and I quote, "You don't follow up Obsessed with IWTKWLI. Migrate should have been a single from that album. They are not even on the same album!" I am so confused. How do we know her catalogue better than her? That's not me being petty. That's a glaring error.

Beyonce / MC (40,220)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
I mean social media is reaching a fever pitch about the Beyonce album. I wish MC had done this but the problem is because she is not the innovator regarding this move, she can't do it without people saying she's trying to keep up or copying Beyonce's strategy. Remember all the comparisons people drew from TEOM album cover and Beyonces Dangerously in Love album cover, even though they looked nothing alike? I hate that MC has to wait for IDJs blessing to finish this album and honestly that's no excuse to me because remember how quickly she finished Rainbow?

The voice (40,089)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
I've been saying it since late 97. Something happened to the voice and when there is no magic fix it around we get the real current state of the voice. What baffles me is that anybody is surprised. I love MC. I think she is the most underrated lyricist of our time. I think she puts an album together unlike anyone we have ever known. But what she is known for is vocals. Young singers defer to her when asked about influences. She has been voted best vocalist of our time on so many lists and yet we are jittery before every live performance. I'm not beating her up and yes I want her to sing live and not lip sync. She gets mad props from me going out like a soldier. But can she please address what's been up for 16 years. If it's nodules, say that. If you damaged your voice during the Daydream tour, say it. If it's stage fright, say it. I don't worry about MC on wax because that will always be impeccable. There are technological band-aids there. But when a "live" performance is coming up, I find myself having to take a tranquilizer.

She did an amazing job. She struggles with higher full voice notes, but this is seriously proving that she still has a voice. And have you all noticed between this performance and the Jimmy Fallon impromptu concerts that her runs are getting amazing. She is much better now live than the 1999-2000 Rainbow era.

It came on my playlist and it just hit me like a ton of bricks. This song is not about Nicki Minaj. It's not about Tommy Mottola. This is a thinly veiled goodbye to IDJ. I am no longer under your dominion. Watching you fall (down the charts). I feel like such an idiot. That it took me so long to realize this.

I love the song but... (39,733)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
It's not a hit. And I hate being negative when MC gives us what we want. That's why I'm not tripping. It's deep lyrics and introspective. I don't care about a #1. Firstly, let's look at the state of the music industry. Celine released a pop-friendlier song that didn't chart on the Hot 100 at all. Secondly, MC used three syllable words. So not, Blurred Lines. The biggest issue I have with the song, and you all are going to crucify me for this, she will not be able to sing this live so I'm expecting more smoke and mirrors. But I do love the song.

I'm with you. I could care less about a single. She's released three in the last 12 months. I want an album. I tend to like the songs on the albums better than the singles. In addition, record companies are not releasing albums unless the single is hot and I don't want a lackluster chart performance due to the juvenile state of music lovers that contribute to retail and radio to push the album back again. And I've warned this board once, stop beating up on Memoirs. Or else!

The voice (39,293)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
The same topic over and over, but I'm going to cap my feelings on the voice and its "deterioration". Yes, singer's voices change over time and yes MCs voice has changed. My problem is that she sounds amazing on wax. The problem is live performances when they count. At a concert recorded with camera phones she seems confident, shows off, does vocal acrobatics. As soon as there is a television camera involved, she goes all to pieces. Then I'm stuck defending her for days on Facebook. I think the voice has changed and she sounds wonderful on CDs, but live on an awards show, unless she's lip syncing, it's a hot mess.

There are two reasons MC is not respected by the public nor gets the Grammys, accolades and tributes she deserves. 1. Fans in the 90s had a habit of buying multiple copies of her work so no one could never tell whether or not her singles were popular or it was fans buying multiple copies to get her to #1. Don't believe me, ask a non-lamb to sing the hook to Thank God I Found You. They don't even know the song. 2. Radio programmers and industry folks got pissed when she was nearing and then surpassed Elvis and The Beatles records for weeks at #1 then total #1s (Elvis). No one want to see MC succeed but us and that is why lambs are so critical of every move she makes, because when the industry is against you, how are you supposed to be successful? We gonna push her to #1 again. Long live MC.

Never Forget You (39,162)
by Randy from USA

It's so funny to hear so many people bad mouth something you love. Never Forget You is one of my favorite Mariah Carey songs. Here people come saying, it's forgettable. The vocal is amazing. There is a Jermaine Dupri remix that was a sign of things to come. The lyrics are simple considering the two geniuses that put them together, but overall it's a standout on Music Box for me.

RadChad, skipped songs and TAOLG (39,149)
by Randy from USA
| |
|
|
Rad, I see your criticism of the songs that people said they skipped. I don't agree with some of the ones you picked. Lullaby and Last Kids are hot. Never Forget You was one of my faves of all time. I do agree with Stay The Night. It's boring. I guess we have our different tastes. There are a few songs I would skip especially from Emotions and Glitter, but haven't you guys found your relationship with certain songs are off and on? That's how I feel about Heartbreaker remix. I love it, then I don't, then I love it again. My favorite cover is Against All Odds. I'm so glad we have all these albums and songs to listen to and discuss. We're coming up on the marker that will make this the longest wait between albums of any kind.
