Lil Star / a clean version / R Kelly duet (43,177)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Why does some of you want a "clean" version of the album? I didn't know it was dirty. Mariah looks very showered and clean. As for "Betcha Gon' Know" with R Kelly, the only version that was leaked was R Kelly's version which was, I think, a sample of what he presented Mariah with. But you know Mariah has her say lyrically. Just like she reshaped H.A.T.E.U from The Dream's original sample available on YouTube. So, we are in for a completely new song. I love "It's a Wrap", but I can't imagine Mary J Blige on that track. I hope they retouched it because most of the Angel's Advocate's remixes were cut and paste, and most of them were half cooked. Lil Star, this is not time for whispering, and Mariah knows it. This is a make or break album, whispering won't do. I have the impression that she'll be offering some different bonus tracks for the international version. Something tells me that in all we'll have a few more tracks in between collabo's with other artists and international releases.

Betcha Gon' Know (43,176)
by ACMRitz from United States

Do you all remember how the last line in the song Betcha Gon' Know is "To be continued..."? Mariah is probably not giving us a remix with R. Kelly, but the second part to the song. What do you guys think? So excited. Who else has preordered?

Made it worth getting up this morning. I love the title, I love the cover, I love everything about it except that it's not available for pre-order on UK iTunes yet. Haha. I am so excited for this album. Mariah, you are truly the last surviving megastar. Long may you continue.

She should have real marketing strategies (43,173)
by Outsider girl from Mars

I prefer the standard cover. The deluxe one is really awful and I don't get it at all. At least they should put Mariah's face centered. I don't understand the overlay between the background and the main image. It's not integrated at all. You can see it just a silhoutte and a background without any connection. On the other hand, damn, they should be more creative. Suppously Mariah is rich enough to work with the best. I think the standard cover concept might be perfect for doing something shocking and transgressive like Mariah crucified for example. I know she's ultra catholic and lots of people would be mad against her for being so irreverent but this is show business dahhlings. She could defend all the negativity saying it's just a simile because haters and tabloids have always tried to knock her out with very mean comments about her image, her personality, her music and she has learnt to deal with it. But this album is something as simple as being herself. "Me. I am Mariah, this is how I am as a person and as an artist, the way of express myself doing what I love. If you don't like it throw your stone against me. I will have to accept it and turn the other cheek." Wouldn't that be a much better marketing strategy than something like this? She would have everyone talking about Mariah's new album and her lead single "Crucifixion". Lol.

Cover song? (43,172)
by Nina from USA
| |
|
|
I thought she was doing a cover song on this album, unless that's changed too. Sigh. Well if that still holds true it must be either "Cry" (could that be that way underrated Faith Hill song from about 10 years ago, which was written by Angie Aparo?) or "One More Try", the George Michael song? I hope we get to hear samples of the tracks before 5/27. I'm still annoyed that the release was pushed back 3 weeks.

Thoughts (43,169)

I love the title, think the headshot is the better of the two covers as it's more classy. Surprised to see the Memoirs throwbacks on there, but glad to hear those duets as I was eager to when they were spoken of years ago. Equally surprised to see TAOLG relegated to a bonus track on the deluxe edition, considering it was the original title and one would imagine a focal point of whatever form the original album had taken. I can't wait to hear the new material.

Carlos, that is why I didn't purchase the deluxe edition. I already have TAOLG and I can do just fine without those other fillers. Just order the standard and leave it be, nothing we can do about it. Though I do agree with you there should've been something else used as a filler. For example that Beautiful dance mix (which sounded great) when she called the lamb line. That seems to have dropped of the list too.

Well done, Mariah (43,165)
by Joyce from USA
| |
|
|
The album cover is beautify, very heavenly. There is something magical about the sky in its twilight sun set moments. The sky is many colors and the sun golden shortly before the stars emerge. This is an excellent cover. He hair and makeup look very natural and real giving her a youthful appearance, ten years younger than her true age. This is the visual to her brand, the packaging to her product and it looks fresh, new timeless and classy. I absolutely love the title. Because she is Mariah. A legend. And I hope this is a well-crafted album but above all, I hope her voice makes a strong presence evoking the power and astounding talent that skyrocketed her to number one 5 times on her very first album 14 years ago. Well done Mariah. Well done.

Left off songs / Hope Street / Walter Afanasieff (43,164)
by lil star from untied states

First of all I want to say I'm super excited for the album but I can't help but be a little sad that one of the songs I was most excited to hear is missing, "Hope Street". After hearing the description "It is awesome, experimental, and sounds like a Joni Mitchell record on steroids. Mariah uses the lower register of her voice to an amazing effect." Couldn't she have left of "The art of letting go" and put it on? And I'm wondering if any of these songs is the Walter collabo we have been dreaming about.

One More Try (43,160)
by Mara from United States

I am dying. My two absolute favorite male and female singers. What if George is on that song too? That would be amazing to hear him sing with her. That song is so soulful and does have that "Can't Let Go" sound in the beginning a little. I can only imagine how she would sound. I always thought of George as the male Mariah in terms of vocalists. I preordered my copy and she was currently at #4. Mariah WTG. Love the cover with the orange clouds in the back. Simply beautiful.

Lamb / airbrushing (43,158)
by Stephen from London, United Kingdom

Hi Lamb, whilst I like both covers, I must say I prefer the non deluxe cover, especially for that reason. Mariah has a gorgeous nose. I don't know why she insists on airbrushing it out of existence. The pic looks a lot weirder than it should, which is a shame. It's otherwise a very good alternative cover.

Artwork / clean version (43,157)
by Stacey from USA

I think the artwork done as a kid is a nice touch. Being a mom to three kids, two of which draw pictures, I just love when they color then give me the picture. I also hope there is a clean version released. I know Amy Winehouse did that years ago. I know the language thing doesn't bother some. But, I usually have kids in the car with me and would not have to deal with it.

High expectations for Mariah's upcoming album (43,154)
by Panos from Greece
| |
|
|
I am pretty excited for Mariah's new album, tracklist etc but I expect the music and songs themselves live up to the expectations. I also wonder where are some of the promising songs we heard the previous months such as Hope Street which was viewed as an exceptional one with new sound and Mariah singing in her impressive low register. It is said that many of these songs will serve as interludes between the anounced ones. I hope that she didn't exclude meaningful songs as she previously mentioned. I hope that that this album will shocase once again her impressive vocals in full force (growls, high-mid-low belting, nice whistling, whispering with measure, things that I believe she will do). It would be nice if she had a song for everyone's tastes and variety as she has been teasing us two-three years now, and not stick in one genre and music production. I'd love a latin-pop-soul ballad like My All or I Only Wanted or a mid-tempo latin song. Then it would be great to deliver a rock-pop unexpected song reminiscent of You Need Me or Bringing On The Heartbreak with guitars, high belting, growling and whistling. Last but not least a discoish uptempo would be a sure hit. A song as many of you described as an old-school feel one, something that will start as an epic intro ballad, continue as a dance number accompanied with violins and crazy bassline (I would die) and have an amazing bridge-climax before it ends (I'm That Chick with intro or enough is enough). It would be classy yet fresh and addicting. Finally I hope that Mariah will produce great dance and mid-tempo remixes as in the nineties with excellent house remixes produced by David Morales, edm ones produced by David Guetta for example and old-school hip-hop ones. In this way the album would probably be her most complete work, a true music journey and would represent once again how big talent she is. I know I sound a little boring but I want to see her shine once again for a last time. And please Mariah record a bridge in Beautiful as many fans requested, in order to sound more complete (it's five minutes work for you, as you can produce a whole masterpiece even the the last days before the release of the album and you have a whole month) and release last summer's unreleased old-school dance remix of Beautiful. I hope that Mariah will do even half of these and I would be extra pleased.

A pre-order banner would actually be good promotion IMO. Even if IDJ don't pay for it, I think Mariah should. I know its not fair to expect her to do it, but I seriously would. Get those pre-orders in, which will help boost initial sales and thus the perceived buzz.

Airbrushing (43,150)
by Chicago Lamb from USA

Don't know why her nose has to be so airbrushed for the deluxe album cover. It's not at all how it looks in "real life". Her left nostril is completely redrawn. Why can't she be happy with it, I'll never understand.
