The Greatest Showman has only sold 1.2 million from physical, digital download and streaming equivalent sales and is the best selling album of the year and the second best selling album of the year George Ezra's Staying at Tamara's has only sold 435,000. Selling 50,000 in this day and age is the equivalent of selling 250,000 copies if the 90's. (Saturday 24 November 2018; 21:35)

Re: Selected Target stores only (86,465) (86,471) by B from USA I don't understand the disconnect between Mariah and her fanbase.She delivers her best album in years and they don't buy it. It performed better than expected which is promising but I was hoping it would do even better. I think word of mouth and the reviews will keep the album the charts for a few weeks and if she does do a remix of A No No with Cardi B and Lil Kim it will be the song that will sell the album. Plus, people buying tickets to her tour should also help keep the album on the charts. It was only projected to sell 40,000-44,000 copies. MIAM sold 58,000 copies in its first week so Caution selling 50,000 after everything that's happened in the last four years is impressive considering how far her star has fallen in the last four years. Unlike MIAM I think Caution has more commercial potential. (Saturday 24 November 2018; 20:35)

As long as the numbers land in that ballpark, however, they should earn "Caution" a Top 5 position on the Billboard Top Album Sales (pure sales) and Billboard 200 (consumption) charts. I think Caution, which has already exceeded sales projections, is going to do better than these forecasters are saying it will. Despite being the weakest song on the album (which is telling because it's a good song) I think Mariah sequenced it first because it addresses the drama of the past four years and sweetly tells the vile interlopers to get the [censored] out and beginning the album with GTFO set the tone of the album and works thematically.
