Re: Net worth (93,369) (93,371) by Tijl from Belgium
Was her net worth ever that high? I have only read about 300 million so far. Not sure if this includes real estate and her catalogue.

Re: I never thought (93,352) (93,357) by Tijl from Belgium
I didn't read that message so I take back those words. The other things I wrote, not so much. Time to get real people. This is a fan board indeed, but I think most people don't quite realize what we are facing.

The reality of it all: I have a friend who suffers from cancer (she isn't infected) and she will leave for the hospital today. She is in her last days. Thanks to Corona nobody will be aloud [sic] to visit her, and she will spend her last hours surrounded by complete strangers. Furthermore no decent funeral service will be possible because the current pandemic does not allow it. She will be silently buried as a child's pet goldfish. That is the effect on the world: innocent people who are ripped of basic human rights.

No racism but a lot of anger because certain people have acted without any sense of responsibility or respect to others.

Re: I never thought (93,342) (93,346) by Tijl from Belgium
Nobody has said [censored] China. The reality is that the world is now suffering because of a virus that originates from that exact country. The consequences of Corona on the world will be devastating.

Re: We're in this together (93,336) (93,339) by Tijl from Belgium
As President Macron said: "Certain consequences will follow and certain institutions have a lot of explaining to do."

To know that a Chinese scientist has been arrested and killed by his own government because he wanted to warn the world about the effects of this virus says it all.

The silver lining, however strange it may sound, is that this virus exposes everything that is wrong with our social structure and that people around the world will stand up. Our leaders are hardly capable of protecting us not to mention the many errors that have been made over the last months. We will rise from the ashes but we will have to fight for a different world. The current one has clearly reached its due date.

I can't stand him. Simply bad in my opinion.

Re: We're in this together (93,332) (93,334) by Tijl from Belgium
That is exactly how our leaders reacted at first and a few weeks later we are in lockdown. If possible, warn your loved ones not to take this lightly. There is no need for panic or hoarding yet brace yourselves for a considerable period of social distancing.

The Chinese culture doesn't respect basic hygiene regulations. Animals are killed in market places with blood everywhere and people passing by and simply walking through it. Combine this with the government/communist dictators that force censorship regarding any communication that will put their system in a bad light and you have a recipe for disaster. This is the third serious virus that has its origins in China in a few decades. Let's face reality: the world is over populated and nature fights back. And nature always has the last laugh.

Hello Robert-Anthony. In Antwerp we are currently living under a "lockdown light", meaning we have to stay indoors as much as possible with the exception of getting groceries, a visit to a pharmacist or the bank. People are allowed to make a stroll but with a limited number of people if not more than two at once. It is a very bizarre situation especially when one lives on his own as is my case. Thank God for Netflix and my extensive dvd collection (which got scrutiny from my friends before but not any longer lol). Nobody knows how long this will last. I try to life day by day and not to overthink the situation too much. A shame I can't go to the gym to get my mind of things because at times I think I might go loopy. Bless everybody and take care.

And you fell right into that trap with "Your eyes wide open" dahling. Give us a break and stop acting as a condescending know-it-all. Your agressive behaviour is rather transparant and getting a bit old.

The video shows that MC always had that quirky sense of humour. People saying she has changed so much over the years are dead wrong.

The dresses are quite alright but I don't care for the bodysuit. It looks silly and out of place.

Every year at Christmas time, Mariah's AIWFCIY introduces her to a new and younger audience. A new lamb is born every day.

Re: What career achievement makes you most proud? (93,080) (93,088) by Tijl from Belgium
Her management under Benny Medina and the guidance of L.A. Reid was the force behind her "comeback". That era is still one her best in videos, imagery and television. Her performances at the MTV Music Awards and the MTV Movie Awards were epic. I like E=MC2 as an album but the TEOM era was outstanding because it brought her back to the top of music's firmament.

Re: #Beautiful should have been the 19th (93,046) (93,047) by Tijl from Belgium
I quite liked the performance at the BET awards. She radiated a Marilyn Monroe-esque vibe that night. A shame it was mimed but this can be a requirement made by the production of the show.

#Beautiful needed a vintage looking video to accompany the feel of the song. She indeed looked gorgeous but those scenes on the bike are a bit too porno for my taste. Sometimes, less is a lot more.

#Beautiful was and still is pop perfection. The video was a bit of a let-down though.

We care about MC (92,995) by Tijl from Belgium
The last days the message board hit a rather delicate yet important matter. Is Mariah an alcoholic persé? The subject touches nerves as it is beyond regular fandom.

I for one have written quite some posts about her issues with substance abuse. Am I in the wrong? I really do not think I have crossed a line. There is blatant proof.

In my defence and hers. Suffering from substance abuse does not define one as a "bad" person. It is a sign of personal struggles and feelings of inadequacy.

I love and adore Mariah. Ask anyone in my life. I worship her and she has been there in the good times, the bad ones and everything in between.

I love her because she is such a fighter, a survivor and never will be defeated. Yet, we all know as "normal" people that living life gets to you. Heartbreaks, disappointments and breaking of trust. None of us are spared from the hardships of life and for every victory there is a price to pay.

I will always support my girl because she has always - unknowingly - been there for me. She is in my heart always and my biggest wish is to be able to gratify her in the flesh one day.

I know she is a fighter and I know she will bounce back. She always has before.

And concerning the vocal decline? Of course it is intertwined with her lifestyle. I don't care. She has nothing left to prove.

I only wish her peace of mind and happiness. Always my hero.
