Randy (38,516) (38,521) by Stacey from USA Well said. MC on her worst days live sounds better than these young starlets on their best days, lol. It's totally true. For me, it's not the lipping that bothers me. All singers do it at one point. It's that she's doing it all the time now and it's so obvious. At the Grammys 2006 performance, WBT was all live, but toward the end of FLAB, you could tell she was lipping. I would do after singing WBT 100% live, lol. It's ok to lip notes here and there. What bothers me is that it was so obvious at AI and the BET awards. I watched a spot on E! News today about the awards and the press MC got was not flattering. That's not the kind of media coverage you want with a new album waiting in the wings. It's freaking Mariah Carey. Arrange the songs differently to sing them live, but just sing them live. Lyric / Chase / Stephen (38,475) by Stacey from USA Well said, my friends. I especially loved Lyric's post. Fans who wear rose colored glasses loving everything MC puts do her a diservice. Even after supporting her longer than some of your time on earth, lol, some of us still can't express concern over the direction of her latest efforts. I keep going back to that point because some fans think they can throw away my 20+ years of support because I offer some constructive criticism. Just baffles me some folks can't tell the difference between negativity and constructive criticism. Who knows what the issue is these days. I thought things were back on point and then an album pushback to who knows where. Who is dropping the ball here? I don't know. All I want for MC is continued success. I couldn't be more happier for her additional roles as wife and mother (as I am both too). (Sunday 30 June 2013; 2:50)

Even those here who have been staunch supporters of her can see things are falling apart. #Beautiful was a great start. It was doing well on the radio, airplay was up, things were looking good. Then an album push back. Then hot messy remixes that are so below what she is capable of doing are released. Everything was in place and now it's all falling apart. *sigh* Here we go again (38,407) by Stacey from USA My thought is, why set a release date when you clearly know you aren't going to be ready. Taking your time is one thing (I get that) vs. setting a date then pushing it back. The latter just looks bad. I am in no way defending how Sony personally treated Mariah, but from a business standpoint, when she was there promotion and release dates were on point. Ever since she joined IDJ, the only era where that same precision occurred was with TEOM and the beginning of E=MC2. And the remix? I couldn't even take more than a few rap lines. The guest rapper joint is not my thing. IMO, it ruins a perfectly good song. I guess I should be happy the rapper is on the remix this time, lol. As with others, I'm moving onto the re-sung vocals. I didn't care for the original Triumphant song, but the remix dance track with new vocals was pretty good. BTW: The Showbiz article was on point. Couldn't have said it better myself. The song has been out for over two months, but as you know, the general public has a way of moving on to new songs quite quickly. With airplay stalling last week, we may see a drop. We may not, especially with MC slated to appear on many different shows in the coming weeks. I only want buzz to remain high in the weeks before the album drops. BTW: I like the album title too. On a side note: You think I jump the gun which comes across as negative. I disagree. I try to express my opinions with thoughtful reasons behind them. I just don't criticize something for no reason. Know what I mean? That's why I feel my thoughts fall in in the category of constructive criticism not negativity. Besides that whole conversation about promotion, etc with Edward and others was for fun. I think some fans need to not take things so seriously. Right? Right. Favorite lead single (38,351) by Stacey from USA I agree with Stephen. All her lead singles during the 90s were so radio friendly with awesome beats, etc. But how do I choose a favorite lead single? So hard. They are all so good. Would you believe I didn't like Fantasy when it first dropped? It took OSD coming out to buy the album and now I can't get enough of Fantasy. Funny how things are sometimes. Ok, it's a tie between Fantasy and Heartbreaker. For me, I normally don't like rappers in songs. I prefer the rapper on the remix. But in this case, Jay-Z's lines fit so perfectly in the song, you can't help but rap along with him. And that beat? Wowza. Fantasy is up there because she changed the course of music by fusing together pop and hip-hop. All the artists who make money off that concept have MC to thank. (Monday 24 June 2013; 19:05)

Meriweatherc86 (38,350) by Stacey from USA We aren't paid experts, but we aren't dumb either. Many of us (me included) have been MC fans for decades. We've been fans of other artists for a long time too. You see trends, what kind of promotional activities that work and what does not. In the past, when a new single, album dropped, MC was all over the place. Then it's seemed the past few weeks have seen a drop off in appearances. Airplay dropped last week. She stayed at #15, and so I'm worried the song may fall a bit before her next appearances. Know what I mean? Only time will tell. No one is being negative about #Beautiful. Some have expressed not liking the song. That's to be expected. However, for the most part everyone here seems to like the song and it's potential. We all want the song to do well. We want buzz to stay high so when the album drops and that all important 2nd single, the album will soar. Know what I mean? It's not called negativity, my friend. It's called constructive criticism. Album title (38,270) by Stacey from USA Honestly, it really doesn't matter what it is. As long as it is not something so cheesy like Lollipop or whatever, folks will concentrate on the music the album contains rather than the album title. You never hear anyone make fun or bash TEOM because the album spawned two #1 songs and #2 with SIO. The music is that good and so no one focuses on the album title. (Monday 17 June 2013; 19:36)

Antone / Licia / Edward (38,259) by Stacey from USA What the heck happened? I make a funny joke about promotion, no drama toward anyone and some fans just freak out. Antone, try posting your opinions without the name calling or insults toward others and see what happens. Your thoughts will be posted. I guarantee it. You are expected to follow the webmaster's rules just like me and everyone else here. (BTW: I've had posts of mine censored because I didn't follow the rules. I learned from my mistakes and moved forward.) Licia, I'm too much of a prude to put a hashtag before my name. I try and keep my language clean. #Beautiful (38,245) by Stacey from USA Shocks me too the song is going up the charts with little promotion. It kills me this song could be higher with a few appearances. Why isn't she going on the talk shows? Hello? Gosh, she doesn't even have to sing when she appears. Just walking out with the song playing, talking about her life, new album, Idol would be enough promotion. Man, why is she paying her people the big bucks when some little fan like myself has it figured out? Lol. (Friday 14 June 2013; 8:05)

Roc and Roe / Edward (38,232) by Stacey from USA I've always thought MC dresses them cute. MC on the other hand? Different discussion. Moving on, lol. Maybe Roe needs those glasses. My son is 2 and needs glasses. He is farsighted. Anyway, they are her kids. MC is responsible for them. I have enough to worry about with my own children. Edward, it surprises me there isn't more promotion for the single. Is that the way things are done now? Release the song and hope for the best? That's now I would run my business. But whatever. A few appearances on some shows would go a long way to helping a strong lead single up the charts. You have to keep buzz afloat to help sales once the album drops. Edward (38,224) by Stacey from USA Oh I agree, #Beautiful deserves better treatment. I think the song has the potential to do better than ILT did for TEOM. She needs to do some TV shows (hello Ellen?) in between now and the 4th performance. This song has done really well with little to no promotion since it's release. Album leaks (nikki and Edward) (38,209) by Stacey from USA Edward is right. I had a 8:00 minute song full of 30 second clips of all the songs about a month before TEOM was released. I had the full album about two weeks before. I had E=MC2 two weeks before its release too. Heck, with TEOM, I had Say Somethin' a few months before the album dropped (when that song was being considered for the lead single). The song was laced with "for sample blah blah blah only". It happens. I think in the case of MOAIA, the album just wasn't up to the calibar of TEOM and E=MC2. Plus, I still think IDJ was a bit miffed she dropped promotional efforts on E=MC2. (That's not a criticism. I'd put my personal life first at that time too. Good things were happening.) It's just that from a business standpoint, IDJ was not happy. With MOAIA, besides Obsessed and a few other songs, the album was all whisper which while you as fans may like those vocals, the general public usually does not (remember Charmbracelet). Mass audiences like the voice, hence why #Beautiful is doing well. MC sings in that song and sounds great. With the digital world we live in, leaks are going to happen. (Monday 10 June 2013; 17:46)

Will.I.Am slams MC (38,197) by Stacey from USA When a person slams someone with MC's resume (18 #1 hits, #1 albums, countless top 10 hits, over 200 million records sold, etc), it's simply jealousy. Pure jealousy. While artists may come close to tying MC's 18 #1 hits, no one will ever come close to selling as many records as Mariah. Chalk it up to jealousy and move on. Loverboy/Obsessed, single choice (38,178) by Stacey from USA Loverboy is a good song with a fun vibe, but that video? That was a total "what the crap was that" moment for me, lol. A part of me feels bad for saying that, because MC was not healthy during that time. I do love the video for Obsessed. She totally poked fun at Eminem and could deny the video had nothing to do with him at the same time. Brilliant. Anyway, the second single doesn't need to be like WBT or some kind of knock-off to be successful. It just needs to be radio friendly, something the masses can appeal to, whether it's upbeat or a ballad. Know what I mean? I'm talking about the formula that worked for TEOM. It's the same formula that can work for the new album. #Beautiful is doing well, creating lots of good buzz for the new album. Now she's got to wow us with that ultra-important second single. enwar00 (38,168) by Stacey from USA I don't know what kind of single she should release as #2, but in order to set the stage for a strong album sales start, it has to be a radio friendly, commercially great song. WBT was that kind of song that set TEOM on fire. The beat, lyrics, gosh everything on that song was sheer perfection. I can't remember if it was MC or another producer, but one person said there is a song on the new album that will blow people's mind. If that's so, release that song. Depending on how #Beautiful is doing at the end of June, maybe debuting the new single at Macy's 4th spectacular would be the way to go. The album would come out two weeks after that. Let the single blow up with a video right behind it (a good one, lol) and then you'll see the album flying off the shelves (ala TEOM). The buzz is great with this new album. She just needs to deliver with a good #2 single and promotion. (Friday 7 June 2013; 3:52)

Moving on up (38,162) by Stacey from USA It's good to see #Beautiful rise to #17 this week. I was a bit worried interest was maybe starting to slow. Good to see otherwise. MC's last big era was TEOM. ILT was the lead single and rose to #16. It was a great single with great promotion that generated a lot of buzz for TEOM. WBT was released a week or so before TEOM dropped in April and really blew the album up the charts. I can see #Beautiful doing the same thing, maybe even doing better on the charts than ILT as the lead single. But, MC has to have that #2 song ready to go. With six weeks untill the release, #Beautiful has the time to set up the 2nd single which hopefully will be released right before the album drops. She could blow up the charts again. MC's best ballad (38,117) by Stacey from USA Oh man, where to begin, lol. Everything Fades Away is a good one. Whenever You Call has one of the best bridges to date. I especially love her duet with Brian McKnight. But for me, my favorite ballad is Till The End Of Time. That song has everything for me. And that bridge? Oh my. (Saturday 1 June 2013; 21:24)

RadChad / Idol (38,107) by Stacey from USA I'm glad we came to a good understanding. I think we are all on the same page. And don't worry about the name thing. It's been mispelled my entire life. The same goes with my last name. I swear my name is going to be mispelled on my tombstone, lol. Take care. As far as Idol goes, I'm glad it's over. Now she can focus on the upcoming album, promotion, tour, whatever plans she has in store. Smart move, MC to get ahead of the speculation surrounding whether she would return. Now MC is controlling the discussion with a positive spin. I always said if she waited, Idol producers would throw her under the bus for last season's low ratings. My intent wasn't to necessarily get involved in your posts with Stephen, but call attention to the fact you and him could have a discussion without all the drama. Too many times here some fans take a disagreement as a personal attack toward Mariah and themselves. Know what I mean? I've stated my opinions quite openly, but always with great respect to Mariah and others. And yet, I've been called every name in the book, lol (here and elsewhere). I agree with Edward in that Eric does not post messages that are absurd. Trust me, he's sent me a few messages folks have written about me that were plain nasty that were never posted here. I think that's why Stephen maybe got blunt in your eyes. Sometimes we grow so tired of not being able to respectfully express our views. Correct me if I'm wrong, Stephen.) It was nice to see two people get passed the cultural divide (so to speak), and see the points each other was trying to make. Like you, I always enjoy reading other's opinions and learning from them. BTW: If someone does come here and trash MC, I'll be right behind you calling them out. But, if someone says they don't like a video for credible reasons like I did, they should have the right to say such without all the childish drama. Know what I mean? Stephen and RadChad / Lee (38,044) by Stacey from USA Stephen and RadChad, It's nice to see two people get passed the delivery and understand the points the other person is trying to make. I enjoyed reading your conversation on Mariah's voice. Lee, I'm with you on the GMA performance. Miguell sounded fine. It wasn't as bad as the AI mess. ABMB and WBT were great, especially WBT, where at the end of the song she let out a fierce look. I hope she keeps that line of focus during this era. From wardrobe malfunctions to not having her mic hooked up, her performances lately seem disorganized. Her personality is hillarious and I enjoyed how she played off the "hot mess" in some spots, but it just seems she needs to step up her game. Know what I mean? Some may say she has nothing left to prove, and in many respects you guys are right. However, longevity is also a sign of greatness and each time people have counted her out, MC has turned it on and proven those naysayers wrong. I feel she is at another crossroads much like with TEOM, where this is a key point in her career to prove she can still be current. #Beautiful is a great start. Edward, thank you for your kind words. I always enjoy your posts too. And BTW, you're going to find fans at any artist messageboards who dislike a song, video, etc. MC's boards are no different.
