About Dennis from Miami, FL: There's got to be a way...

Re: Dennis (89,248) (89,253) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Actually, I wasn't trying to badmouth Tommy. Show-business is a business. Company invests money and wants certain profit. Sony wanted Mariah do do the same thing over and over again. The same thing happened to George Michael. Sony wanted Faith 2.0. George rebelled. The company didn't promote his album full force and it underperformed. Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 is still a great album, though it didn't sell as much as Faith. Tommy explained that in his book as well.

Re: When You Believe theory (89,239) (89,245) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Prince of Egypt hasn't matched Titainic commercial success. Prince of Egypt had a mediocre box office, and Titanic was the highest grossing movie at that time. "When you believe" has some promotion, but it was of a different scale than My Heart. It was harder to coordinate 2 superstars' schedules (I remember only 2 live performances - Oprah and Oscar's) and the song and the song is not as great (IMHO). And, if you remember, all post-Daydream singles released half-assed support from Sony, because Mariah rebelled. Butterfly didn't receive the same level of success as Daydream or Music Box because Sony has invested in promotion significantly less. It had only 2 commercial singles released in US. Butterfly has/was certified 5x platinum in the US. Outside of the country about 10 million copies were sold, which is not that far from Daydream overseas sales. Sony has turned to Celine instead, because they needed an artist appealing to wide audiences, they were scared of Hip-Hop. It was mentioned in the Hitman (Motorola's autobiography).

AIWFC - Even Better Than the Real Thing (89,214) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Guys, have you seen that? It's from 2017 BBC Even Better Than the Real Thing. I've never seen it before. Some of the impersonators are really good. No Mariah though. But still a lot of fun.

Such a short notice. And receiving this award after JLo.

Dsv, it's a great podcast. One of the hosts advertised it here before the onset of the nightmare era.

I more inclined to think that she or someone from her team is listening to The Mariah Report podcast. The hosts have been talking about a similar setlist for months.

Portrait (86,019) by Dennis from Miami, FL
After first few takes, my favorites are Portrait and Giving Me Life. Portraits sounds like a Stevie Wonder cover, I mean it in a good way. It also reminds me a reworked Camouflage – one of her best retrospective ballads. I like #JusticeForGlitter, but what about MIAM? General Public knows about Glitter, and they have no idea how great MIAM was. I believe that should be the next step for us lambily.

I listen to both Christmas albums all year. I don't need any excuse. AIWFCIY is my jam.

Re: Ariana (84,924) (84,930) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Mariah also re-tweeted and commented Camilla Cabello tweet. I definitely like it. Our girl needs some time to change the public perception. Anyway, I'm reading some articles from 1991-1996. There always was a lot of negative press about her. Looking In was written for a reason.

Re: Mariah: queen of the redo (84,808) (84,818) by Dennis from Miami, FL
I also remember how upset Mariah was when the "wrong" version of TAOLG was uploaded on Facebook. For most of the people, there was no difference between the two versions but she was not happy with that fact. She's an obsessive perfectionist. Just like many other artists, e.g. Michael Jackson or Prince who were working on their material for years and were never 100% satisfied. I don't mean it is wrong, but this obsession with perfection makes her creative process difficult, she definitely needs some kind of advisor, like Tommy, to tell her when it's good enough.

Re: GTFO on the charts? (83,997) (84,005) by Dennis from Miami, FL
IDK if it's possible to have #1 these days for a "veteran artist" in the US charts. It is possible in France for instance, where Mylene Farmer just have had 2 #1s this year in France. Her first release was in 1984, she is 57 now. Many call her "French Madonna", though to me she's way more authentic and artistic.

Article: "Evita" goes Hollywood with Stone cutting deal to helm (83,409) by Dennis from Miami, FL
I read about this fact in Randy Taraborrelli's Madonna: An Intimate Biography many years ago and I never believed it. Recently I've been reading old articles on this site and came across this one. I'm glad that Mariah didn't star as Evita. I wonder if that was one of those movie offers Tommy never told her about as she was saying in the 1998 Barbra Walters interview.

Show duration (83,375) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Guys, can anyone tell me how long does the Vegas show last? It starts at 8pm. Does she show up late recently? I want to come to Vegas just for the show and then hop on the plane so I would appreciate any information.

Of course, all those reputable sourse. Than this one is true as well: "When I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean, I'd love to be skinny like that, but not with all those flies and death and stuff."

Re: Pink (83,260) (83,262) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Mariah plus Pink is a dream come true. But it's very unlikely. Pink is more into Madonna and Mariah is quite the opposite of what Pink is trying to associated with.

Re: New single at iHeart festival? (83,246) (83,247) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Judging by some of her recent interviews and Christmas tour, I am pretty sure there will be no new album or single this year. I doubt she will release anything before spring. Or it will be a new Christmas album. I'm sure her team will try to make AIWFCIY #1 this year.

Re: Change of topic (83,215) (83,216) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Regarding Max Martin. I don't remember Mariah working with any producers from overseas. The bulk of her work is with the US producers. I doubt she will work with him because she doesn't want to be associated with pop music.

Re: Greatest Mariah performance ever (?) (82,835) (82,839) by Dennis from Miami, FL
I'm sure I have listened more than 1k times to Mariah's version of You and I. Also I listen a lot to "America the beautiful". I like WBT from MTV VMA, I Still Believe from Billboard, "If it's over" from Grammys, "Close my eyes" from the Rosie's show, "Vision of love" from Blueprint and entire Here's Mariah Carey. And I not really into MTV Unplugged.

Re: Current songs and albums (82,836) (82,838) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Wow. I'm listening to Voicenotes on repeat for few weeks. Just cannot get enough. "Call out my name by the weekend" is haunting me. His voice is magical. Even my mother who is 55 listens to them both. Then on my list I have Camilla Cabello, Portugal. The Man, Lana del Rey, Tee Grizzley, some Eastern European music. And this entire week I am listening and singing along to Keane's Hopes and Fears - one of my 10 most favourite albums ever.

Re: One song discussion with MC (82,594) (82,596) by Dennis from Miami, FL
Languishing. Or I Wish You Well. Is it "This goes out to you, and you, and you know who you are" or just "goes out to you"? How many people is that song about? But I would rather need an album for a discussion, not just a single song.

Lenny (82,589) by Dennis from Miami, FL
After G. Michael passed away, my next dream collaboration for MC is Lenny Kravitz. Nothing commercial, just two different artists creating great track. I was listening to his later albums recently (Strut, Love Revolution and Baptism). Live collaboration would be great as well.
