Re: The lack of style (76,133) (76,138) by B from USA
To quote Lyor Cohen Mariah needs to slap some class on that ass. Mariah needs to go the 50's Ms. Monroe and Liz Taylor looks. Those looks were sexy yet still modest. These type of dresses and ensembles were flattering on Taylor and Monroe even when their weight fluctuated. She needs to hire a damn stylist. Mariah if you want to one up JLo hire Rachel Zoe. Jenny's stylist learned everything he knows from Ms. Zoe.

Re: Infinity - it grew on me (76,060) (76,100) by B from USA
Mariah music career (and image) needs an air of mystery. Her music also needs some urgency. Like how both Mariah and Miguel played coy when asked if they were working together and then released a great song that was a hit (I guess not by Mariah's standards #15 on Billboard's Hot 100 and #3 on Billboard's R&B chart).

Re: Brett resurfaces (76,089) (76,099) by B from USA
No, Packer cut all ties with Brett. He even sold his stake/share in RatPack. Seems like Brett took Mariah's side. They've been friends since 90's and they used to make great videos together. I miss being excited when it was announced Rather was directing her next video.

Re: Celine Dion performance (76,048) (76,062) by B from USA
She didn't lip the beginning and she dodged every high note and avoided every chest thumping vocal run.

Re: Re: 49 cents (76,049) (76,052) (76,061) by B from USA
I didn't have a Tower Records in the town I grew up in. We had the Record Store. It sold Mariah's singles for outrageous prices because they knew we'd buy them regardless. I'm just glad she always included B-sides and remixes so her fans weren't cheated.

Re: Infinity - it grew on me (76,057) (76,060) by B from USA
Since Memoirs Mariah's songs have required more than one listen to make a lasting impression with the exception of #Beautiful.

Re: 49 cents (76,039) (76,049) by B from USA
The only singles I bought that was .49 cent was Loverboy. Mariah's single were usually $1.29 in Ohio. Those only included the album version of the song and another song from the album or a previous album. Her maxisingles would sell for between $13 to $20. I paid $0.99 for Honey but every other single on the shelves were the same price except maxi singles. I've read that a company that owned different record stores that would do that. When Loverboy was on sale for .49 so was Bootylicious.

Re: MTV Unplugged article (76,031) (76,038) by B from USA
Showed that Carey's voice was unfuckwithable. Loved this article. All of Mariah's future performances need to be unplugged or acoustic. When she doesn't rearrange her songs, like she did for TGIFY in Vegas, she has to rely on backing tracks to produce the wall of Mariah's that sing the background vocals. I think she should do half and half. Ballads should be unplugged/acoustic and uptempos like Dreamlover and Fantasy should be partly lipped. Lipping parts of her uptempos allows her to preserve her voice for the rest of the performance.

Re: MC's 3 steps to success ((76,005) (76,037) by B from USA
I was hoping Mariah's World would have been more like the Around The World special. Such a wasted opportunity.

Mariah Carey's recording future is at risk (75,994) by B from USA
Her deal isn't in jeopardy. It was cheaper on Sony Columbia to have her on their rooster with her massive back cataloque.

Re: I was born at night, not last night (75,960) (75,964) by B from USA
Hopefully, sooner than later. Stella reminds me of a female Howard K Stern. Howard was Anna Nicole's lawyer/lover/manager who exploited her for fame and money.

Re: Mariah Carey/Bruno Mars - Someday/Treasure (75,956) (75,959) by B from USA
It is reminiscent of Heartbreaker. Mariah needs to find another late 80's or early to mid 90's song to sample for her next album's lead single. She doesn't need to sell out to score a hit she needs to use her winning formula from the 90's: working the best producers in the business and writing melodic songs with simple poetic lyrics that are universal (Butterfly). I want an album with songs like I Am Free, Melt Away, Butterfly, The Roof, Breakdown, Side Effects, #Beautiful, and Meteorite. She also needs to rehire [her] personal trainer Patricia from St. Barts (who whipped her into shape in 2008). It's clear she's taking care of her voice but she needs to stop drinking and go back to not speaking for a day or two before recoding and performing.

Re: I was born at night, not last night (75,957) (75,958) by B from USA
MIAM was a great album that fell on deaf ears. She's still got it, she just needs new collaborators and team. Stella has proven time and time again she only cares about fame. Why didn't she yank Mariah off stage during the NYE performance? Because she knew by allowing it she'd get her 15 minutes of fame and she milked it for all she's worth. She even hired an actress to play her incompetent assistant just for more screen time. I wonder if Mariah even knows that Molly wasn't really Stella's assistant. I think Stella is keeping Mariah booked so that she doesn't notice what's obviously going on. If it's obvious to even non fans you know it's bad.

Re: Mariah lost the plot after Memoirs (75,876) (75,893) by B from USA
Wasn't she provoked though? Didn't Em diss her and Nick before she released Obsessed? I love Obsessed. I've had a few stalkers or ex's that can't or won't move on.

Wendy talked about Martyn. I don't know if this has been shared but here's the link.

Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,813) (75,827) by B from USA
I also don't skip a song on Emotions. MIAM was like Mariah took Emotions and Memoirs and put them into a blender. She needs to grow up musically. She needs to write simple melodic songs again with lyrics that are clever and poetic without pandering to the youth of today.

Re: Battle of the albums round 1 (75,817) (75,826) by B from USA
Matty, you articulated what I was trying to say perfectly. Mariah needs to revisit the Motown sound from the Emotions and Daydream again. The last hit single she had was a Motown homage.

Re: Mariah Carey, debut album (75,803) (75,808) by B from USA
Love Takes Time is a permanent part of her set list in Vegas. It's one of the #1's the show is based on.

Re: Mariah Carey, debut album (75,767) (75,771) by B from USA
It was an impressive debut. It heralded the arrival of the newest diva. Some of the songs sound dated and others sound timeless. Mariah needs to go back to writing timeless songs instead of dumbing down her lyrics and using slang to appear hip to the tweens Stella has her targeting.

Re: Daydream (75,768) (75,770) by B from USA
Lyrically, I prefer Butterfly. Vocally, I prefer Daydream although I enjoyed her experimentation with her voice on Butterfly. TEOM has several classics but Daydream and Butterfly are classics through and through.

Side Effects featuring Jezzy (75,738) by B from USA
I played Side Effects for my brother and he said why didn't she release that song as a single. I told him I had no idea. He said it reminds me of Breakdown and that if she released it today it would be a hit. I hope Mariah writes songs like Side Effects and Breakdown for her upcoming album.

Re: Andrew (75,712) (75,737) by B from USA
It wasn't about me, it was about Martyn. I thought that she should know that a member of the Lambily had passed away. She never acknowledged me and I didn't want her to. I was hoping she would acknowledge Martyn and she did.
