Article: Mariah Carey's bad weekend record sales (72,285)
by RibbonB from USA

Roger was a little extra shady in this post, not holding any punches. He could have noted that the video did reach number one on iTunes. I am just hoping Mariah will put on a great show when she tours with Lionel Richie. I am looking forward to that show.

Number one video (72,220)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Well M. has the number one video on iTunes even though the song has dropped to number 25. She is making money off of this, but its impact on radio is still to be determined. Great to see New Edition still getting a big bounce from their recent biopic. They still have three old videos in the top 25 and about 5 of their old videos in the top 100. That is pretty cool. A biopic can really help if done right. I hope Mariah doesn't do hers for another 5 years or more even though Crustella is indicating that one is in the works. She should definitely have a full album ready when and if she does do a biopic. The old music will pop up again and it would be a ripe moment for new music to be released.

Is "I Don't" "Up Out My Face" 2.0? (72,183)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
I actually liked Up Out My Face song and video. They were both fun and vibrant. "Up Out" even had one of the first mainstream moments for Nicki Minaj. The video was cool, went viral early and had a good run on BET's video show 106 and Park. But it never really made it to radio and fairly quickly dropped off. I just see some parallels with YG, minus the cute video. I do think this project is geared for that young, Kardashian type fan base and pubescent boys as someone noted. The conflict Mariah creates for herself is appealing to one fan base at the expense of the other part that cringes. I guess she is tired of middle ground and is going for extremes. I just wish she could be inspired to write some really inspired lyrics. She has gone from super wordy Memoirs era songs to sparsely worded trap songs. I hope she soon hits that perfect balance of well distilled lyrics and good music.

Re: Live performance? (72,177) (72,182)

Although a reenactment on Kimmel or James Cordin's show might be of value. It might need to be an intended parody moment. A regular performance is too ripe for failing IMO.

Please no, I don't think a live performance of this song is a good thing. Too ripe for more "sabotage". First she would have to perform it to a track, which is thin and sketchy to begin with. One sound problem and it is NYE debacle on steroids. It is an OK trap beat for radio or streaming, but what would she do with it on stage, pose and flail around? That one Beautiful remix performance on BET was disastrous IMO. Leaving this as a one off single with video might be all it needs.

MW season 2 poll (72,149)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
I see that one of Mariah's assistants posted a twitter poll on this subject of a MW season 2. 55% of the 500 votes were a resounding no. The majority didn't like the image she presented and the focus on messy side characters vs. the music, touring etc. Hopefully Mariah will just let it go. Despite the apparent "success" of mess and manipulation I hope she will move forward with more "normal" fare vs. sensational fodder.

Wale on the music industry (72,130)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Mr. "You Don't Know What to Do" collaborator himself, had a few choice words about the music industry. He was obviously a little frustrated. M. seems to have gone to the more fake sensational side, since being humble and focused hadn't been working so well for her the past few years. Mariah still needs to drop Stella, or at least be more protective of herself and provide that bubble around her children. IDK how that is going to happen with a circus of leeches in their world.

Packer update (72,078)
by RibbonB from USA

Good run down on the past year or so from Vanity Fair. This was definitely business for James and I am positive for Mariah. The end game may have fallen apart a bit, but M. played it to her advantage. It won't end it seems.

Lol. She was wearing Rihanna's clothing brand. Rih Rih gave her a shout out on her IG I think. Mariah is selling ultimate fantasy to her fans, Q&A while laid out in a bed, and a work out in street wear. It doesn't matter if it's fake to her if people are lapping it up and she gets a hit.

The Beautiful video sure did hurt any momentum the song had, especially the remix video. Mariah definitely has a car in video fixation lately. Hopefully this video doesn't creep people out too much.

Empowered (72,015)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Stella's definition of a women's empowerment song is vastly different from my own. Unless giving the finger and posing provocatively is empowering I don't see it. The Donnell Jones portion of the song is the only thing that makes sense. Mariah does sound good in parts of the song though, but her lyrics have no depth. Donnell's song was at least an honest story about breaking up vs. cheating. Well here is hoping the video is not too bad, but somehow I think the hired hand may make an appearance, thereby making it even more corny and inappropriate. That's the way it seems to be going. If it does go that way then I hope she puts a ball gag in his mouth at least and a lap dog collar. Just go all in with the "empowerment" theme if she must.

That is a good idea with Donnell Jones in a he said, she said. It definitely doesn't apply to that broken engagement, more like broken marriage, but that is just me I guess. The timing of her reality show and record releases can't keep pace with her life changes.

Yikes "Triumphamousinity" is better than this song. Have you figured out what either of them is saying? The video clips don't seem to have any bearing on the lyrics that I can hear. Wow.

May, Mimi needs some down time, some time for inner work. Clean house, close circus, enjoy the fruits of her labor and raise her beautiful Roc and Roe. This constant media mess is not a good thing. I hope she doesn't have to crash to get what she seems to need. IMO of course.

Wow, YG's rap sounds wack and the video looks weird to say the least. This is going to be interesting, but based on the longer tease I don't think I will get into this one. Some lambs are already gassing her up on Twitter though.

Not mutually exclusive (71,932)
by RibbonB from USA
| |
|
|
Mariah's perception of her relationship with her first husband and her clear distortion of events for a reality show are not mutually exclusive. One thing does not negate the other. It is unclear why she would trust another snake manager and so blatantly put her credibility in doubt, but many others have witnessed and can attest to his controlling and obsessive behavior with respect to MC. Not to mention he would have been the bankroll and originator of any fabrications to her career or background back then. People want to give him the credit for her success, but don't like to note the industry dirt, manipulation etc. that record executives are known for, particularly the devil TM. He admits himself that he was wrong for mixing business and relationship. Now look at the results in her life.
