Have to desagree with him. It isn't true that they only performed OSD twice. As far as I know they did it live at MSG in 1995, at the Grammys in 1996, at Lady Di's tribute in 1997, at BET in 2001 and during TAOMT in 2006. By the way I wouldn't be avaliable either after what he said after Jamaica's disaster.

Does anybody have the whole footage of O.D.B. singing Fantasy at the MSG which appears at the end of the video from the concert? It seems it was the only time he performed it live.

I absolutely agree with you. AYNAF is one of her greatest hits. I wish Open Arms was also in the setlist.

At Last. Her voice sounds amazing. I've just watched some clips from her concert in Luxemburg. She's doing so great since this tour started and I'm so proud of her. Well done Mariah, congratulations and happy birthday. [Webmaster: You're a little late, her birthday was yesterday.]

Cancellation (60,817)
by MC1989 from Spain
| |
|
|
First of all, and with all my respects, I don't agree at all with Mariah's team decission, it's obvious it's not hers. If they had announced it on Wednesday I wouldn't mind, but I think it's so wrong to cancel a show two days before. A lot of fans are dissappointed because they even flew in from other countries and spent a lot of money. Apart from that, terrorists can attack everywhere. Brussels is not less safe than London is right now. It isn't wise to think that avoiding the concert will keep them safe because unfortunately it isn't less likely to have an attack in other European city. All we have in our developed countries is a fake appareance of security, but you can't have everything under control. However Brussels these days is "besieged" by the army and the police (for those whose calm depends on that appereance of security) so probably, from that point of view, the safety at a concert could be guaranteed better than before the attack. I hope they add more dates to the tour so that she can perform in Brussels. That's the best compensation.

Thanks for posting your review. You made me laugh with your comments, specially the one about the dancers. It's interesting that without even going to the show I felt similar emotions and had very similar thoughts while watching each and every clip from the concert. I'm jealous. Wish Mariah comes to Spain again because it's been a while. The last concert she gave here was in Madrid in 2000. After that she came in 2001, 2002 and 2005 but just to do some promo. I think that this has been a mistake for her career since the lost opportunity of "There's Got To Be A Way", I mean that she should have visited and performed in Europe much more, because I feel she and her team focused too much in the US where she is like the queen in many aspects (number ones etc.) while here her success had been much more moderate. Still, she has achieved the status of someone legendary, that I hope she keeps forever with hard work and good music. By the way sorry for my English. I still have to improve a lot.

Mariah (60,768)

Am I the only one who thinks Mariah is sounding very very good in her recent performances? I know she uses recorded vocals in some songs but she's doing great, her voice sounds strong and confident. Hope she remains like this for the rest of the tour. Since the tour started I noticed a big change in her voice and in her attitude compared to her Vegas shows. I'm enjoyng the videos from her concerts on YouTube from the begining to end, something that it didn't happen to me with many videos from her Vegas shows. I've just seen "Emotions" and "My All" live in Cardiff and she did great. I'm glad for her and happy to see her voice on point. However it's annoying that despite she's getting good reviews, a big part of the press still preffers making headlines about the hole in her pants (who cares?) or about that she was late, instead of talking about that she's still standing after 26 years in music or that she brings together more than 10.000 people without almost any promo.

Couldn't agree more. I hope she doesn't cancel. That's what these terrorists want, they want us to live with fear. What saddens me the most is that these attacks are feeding and intensifying the EU's xenophobic measures against refugees, who by the way are escaping from the same horror spread by Daesh. Thousands of innocent refugees are starving and the EU has just decided to deport them, I'm ashamed to be part of the European Union. Just imagine for a second you and your family are trying to escape from war and terrorism attacks by radical Islamists and after risking your life in the sea or trying to escape they close the borders to you and send you back. Horror. Anyway, I just think we need to help them, we need to make a change and now more than ever say no to war, no to fear. Mariah is a professional and I hope she carries on and belts out Hero for all of us. The show must go on.

Mariah Carey and Celine Dion duet (53,613)
by MC1989 from Spain
| |
|
|
Celine has always been kind to Mariah. She sent flowers to Mariah during MC's first shows in Vegas. A few years ago (when MC was in American Idol) she was asked about working with Mariah and she answered "Yeah. Definitely." In the interview she gave in March when she announced that Rene had cancer she put any rivalry away between her and other divas by saying that "There won't be another Mariah, and there won't be another Britney, each of us are unique." I would love a Mariah Carey and Celine Dion duet. It would be like a full circle. The diva trinity of the 90's: Whitney, Mariah, Celine. When You Believe was an epic duet that will last forever as one of the greatest duets in pop music. Whitney is gone (RIP) and an MC-Celine duet could be epic as well. Two of the greatest divas standing together. They could sing something easy, not trying to belt and hit high notes, something simple but sang with their personal and unique voices. Both Mariah and Celine haven't got the voices they had a few years ago so it wouldn't be like a competition, just the two of them singing their parts and mixing their voices in the chorus. It would be a dream come true for me and for many fans.

I totally agree with you about JLo. I wish this year they honor Mariah with an award for her incredible achievements, some legend award to praise and remark her 25 years in music. She already has these kind of awards but in this moment it would be a great way to recognise her importance. Mariah doesn't dance, she may not be the best dressed or stilish woman in the business but she belongs from another school, she's among a generation of vocalists who proved their value focusing on their talent. She's a great songwriter and she has a genuine style, a personal and recognizable voice. She still has a great voice (although I didn't like her first day in Vegas and sounded bad for me), and her last studio album was very good, but she doesn't fit in today's commercial standards. People's idols nowadays are people like JLo, Katie Perry etc. who aren't vocalists. When I listen to Taylor Swift and all these people who are popular now and I still don't see anything original or genuine in their works, just copy-paste from many other melodies and simple, catchy and lack-of-content lyrics.

#1 To Infinity booklet / Someday and I Don't Wanna Cry (53,578)
by MC1989 from Spain
| |
|
|
Yesterday I bought the CD with the European tracklist. I really appreciate Mariah's comments on each song and the rare pictures included in the booklet. However, I prefer the American tracklist. Can someone tell me what does she say about Someday and I Don't Wanna Cry, which are not included in the European tracklist? By the way I enjoyed VOL at Jimmy Kimmel, good vocals, she sounded powerful and most important it was live.

Opening night (53,040)

I said that using a pre recorded track in nearly all the whistle notes, and in each "bridge" or "difficult part" is cheating. I didn't say "Mariah is a cheater". Maybe it's not only her decision to use playback. The reason why she sounded yesterday exactly the same as in the snippets from the rehearsal of LTT, Someday, Hero etc. (especially Love Takes Time and Someday and their whistles) is because she recorded those vocals again this year, and she's using them for the Vegas residence. Good. Many people won't notice. Many others like me will do, I complain about the abuse of lipsynching, not even about lipsynching. So I have a personal issue. Thanks. We all do have our issues. Let's move on. What a wonderful version of TGIFY she did.
