About B from USA: Slowly but surely®™ The Vindication of B ®™

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,853) (72,866) by B from USA
Let's be clear Mariah was snubbed because she was married to Tommy. At the time she was viewed as a talented woman who slept her way to the top and he was viewed as as a CEO with a gansta mentality. Walter didn't even win a Grammy until he worked with Celine. Why Mariah was awarded for Butterfly is beyond me. It was universally praised and is considered a defining album of the 90's.

Re: The Grammys comment (72,851) (72,864) by B from USA
Those three awards mean more to her than her other two because she was finally awarded for making the music she wanted to make.

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,835) (72,849) by B from USA
I honestly believe she only listens to hip-hop or her own music. If she wants to reach the masses again maybe she should give Adele's album a spin.

She won three. Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, and R&B Song of the Year.

Re: MW season 2 (72,827) (72,833) by B from USA
I forgot about the biopic. Why not have Lee do the biopic? He's talented director and writer or Danny Strong, cocreator of Empire? Stella needs to run their production company and hire a professional to write and direct their films with the acception [sic] of Mariah's Hallmark movies.

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,825) (72,832) by B from USA
In 1996 they had the camera cut to and linger on her every single time she lost and in 2006 they used her to promote the show and gave her her awards off camera.

Re: The Grammys foiled me (72,824) (72,831) by B from USA
It is possible to be sabotaged. DCP claimed there wasn't any technical issues on their end and yet they handled everything not Mariah's team. Either Mariah's team sabotaged her equipment or she was given faulty equipment. It garnered a lot of press for DCP and RNYE with Ryan. They may not have sabotaged her but they didn't do her any favors by not defending her which is probably why Stella made those claims and convinced Mariah that it was sabotage.

Re: Did she? (72,802) (72,822) by B from USA
The following is an excerpt from the Vanity Fair profile on Packer in which one of his friends confirm that for Packer the engagement was a publicity stunt which an unnamed Mariah source agrees with. Mariah thought it was love or at least hoped it was. The longtime friend of Packer's noted that the billionaire's engagement to Carey was a boon to him. "James got the better of that," he said. "It was for him a publicity stunt. It's made him a household name." Carey's friend agreed with this assessment: "Why does anyone in Hollywood care about James, other than the fact that he was engaged to Mariah and he's a partner in RatPac? Nobody knew who he was until Mariah."

I love this article.

Re: Did she? (72,802) (72,820) by B from USA
I wouldn't. He used her for her fame. Here an interesting article from Vanity Fair about Packer in which its mentioned that he didn't love Mariah, he wanted to be seen with her and dragged her to events.

Re: MW season 2 (72,808) (72,818) by B from USA
Nice to know she'll be performing for an hour. I hope she doesn't do a second season of Mariah's World. It was supposed to be an eight episode event, leave it at that and move on. I also hope she doesn't star in any of the upcoming Hallmark films she's contracted to direct and compose songs for because her performance in A Christmas Melody was lackluster. Maybe she can do both but directing and starring in a movie simultaneously has to be strenous.

Re: Mariah's take on the Grammy's (72,809) (72,815) by B from USA
The Grammy's are boring and predictable which is a common complaint. They awarded Taylor Swift AOTY instead of Kendrick and Adele instead of Beyonce. An argument could be made that the Grammy's are no longer an award of merit but an award that reflects sales.

Re: Didn't she? (72,770) (72,805) by B from USA
Which is why she was using a prerecorded track with the whistles for her NYE performonce of Emotions. She was doing so for volume (to make them louder and fuller due to the outdoor venue).

Re: Article: Mariah's first live performance since disastrous NYE gig (72,778) (72,804) by B from USA
We don't lower the bar. She held back on Vision of Love. She did so so she could deliver a solid performance. Just because she didn't whistle or hit a high note doesn't mean she no longer can. She's proved she can over and over again. She's never had issues with her whistle register, I think she held back because of nerves. It's been proven that nerves affect the voice. Go watch the video she released after the opening night debacle of the TECT in which she whistles to the melody of Ain't No Mountain High Enough.

Daydream (72,800) by B from USA
This Vibe article explains why and how Daydream is just as iconic and influential as Jagged Little Pill.

Re: Nerves (72,791) (72,797) by B from USA
I'd be nervous if my last performance had had technical glitches. I think any performer would have been. She was singing live, do you really think she'd take that risk? She's a lot of things but stupid isn't one of them.

Re: How is it boring when she's always done this? (72,779) (72,785) by B from USA
I thought she loosened up once YG reemerged she even laughed and started adlibbing. She was neverous because even her fans had been blasting her since the NYE debacle.

Re: VOL (72,764) (72,771) by B from USA
She slayed that performance and by the time the tour starts she'll be in fine form snatching wigs left and right. I love Mariah when she has something to prove.

Mariah almost knocked over cake while drinking (72,758) by B from USA
This did happen to Britney Spears during the Blackout era. She was drunk and had to be held up by an assistant and Sam Lufti while celebrating her birthday back in 07. Slow new day, I guess.

I Don't (72,749) by B from USA
Mariah's performance has people talking and it's all positive except for the I don't like her hip-hop collaborations or the I miss the old Mariah.

Re: I Don't live (72,742) (72,747) by B from USA
I enjoyed the performance. Mariah was nervous but she slayed. I liked Mariah's interactions with YG. I think the performance needed more YG. He's caused quite the controversy in the comment section.

Re: Grammys (72,715) (72,718) by B from USA
Comparing Jagged Little Pill and Daydream is like comparing Lemonade and 25. Lemonade is Beyoncé's Jagged Little Pill and 25 is Adele's Daydream.

Re: Grammys (72,705) (72,710) by B from USA
I assumed it had sold 10. As of 2003 it had sold 8,505,000 copies in the US ("Shania, Backstreet, Britney, Eminem and Janet top all time sellers").

Re: Grammys (72,688) (72,709) by B from USA
Daydream is still relevant. Always Be My Baby is still being played on the radio in the US. When YM(E) was released I called my local radio station to request it and instead of playing Mariah's new song they played it instead. Also how many articles refer to Mariah as the Always Be My Baby singer? Check the Archives there are countless even after the release of WBT.

Re: John (72,690) (72,706) by B from USA
I bought both for 00.49. However for every discounted Mariah single there was a maxi single that was sold for $10.00 to $18.00. Which do you think fans bought? If you guessed both you'd be correct.
