About RibbonB from USA: I love Mariah's Music.

Re: My Mariah bucket list (68,230) (68,231) by RibbonB from USA
Yes Ms. Knight is a vocal beast, although I don't sit up and listen to her old music like I do Mariah, Aretha and my other faves. But Gladys is also a legend. Check out her version of Oh Holy Night on YouTube. It is a bit too long, but the climax of it is epic. Gladys still looks great. If they ever do a movie of her life, the singer Monica would be excellent for the part, both in looks and voice.

Thanks. I would love her to come up with a dramatic, emotive, well orchestrated jam for Mr. Bond. It could happen. I still listen to Gladys Knight's Bond song "Licence to Kill", so underrated, but IMO one of the best Bond songs. I love that Mariah said the Gladys' voice is a "textbook for singers to learn from". The young queen paying homage to the Empress.

Good clip and nice to know by this one that Mariah and Khaled will be in a Christmas movie together.

Re: Patti Labelle (68,183) (68,202) by RibbonB from USA
Yes This is hqm, and it is also one that best fits Mariah's comfort zones. Not to mention the lyrics of "On My Own" are very timely. "Here we are talking divorce and we aren't even married."

Re: Patti Labelle (68,178) (68,181) by RibbonB from USA
I can agree with that, but by the same token Mariah would have a hard time singing Patti's songs like "If Only You Knew" and many, many others. Perhaps she could cover "On My Own" though.

Re: Mexico ensembles (68,177) (68,180) by RibbonB from USA
Of course, it was a rhetorical question. I do wish she would take it off and sell it or enclose it in a glass case at the Smithsonian or something. Someone said in one of the blogs comments section that she could be the next Kim K. type robbery victim. Perish the though, but she is very cavalier with it jangling off her mid finger.

Why is she still wearing that ring though? Lol.

I think music is about to be on and popping again.

Re: She doesn't vote? (68,150) (68,156) by RibbonB from USA
I am sure she votes. I personally voted weeks ago, by mail. Mariah is a world travelor, so I am positive she is an absentee voter, or perm vote by mail one. I am a permanent by mail voter. I don't have to step foot into a voter booth on election day. More people should do that, save time. There is an issue of ballots getting "lost" though. Lol.

Re: The kids are not alright (68,138) (68,139) by RibbonB from USA
You were not the only one who commented on their childhood. That other poster implied that she was only restating what others told her vs. her having her own memory and opinions of her own childhood. I do believe that the brother's and sister's stories are tainted and driven by greed, so I question why people rely on their information especially over Mariah herself or her mother. Only they can say definitively how racism affected them. It really is her story as an individual, that's all I was trying to say and the way Morgan and Allison come at it is from a place of greed and pettiness, selling stories to the tabloids. Watch the Rosie interview I linked in a previous post today. She said she had kids with Nick because she felt safe and loved and more secure from the history of her childhood, that includes lack of money, random moving, racism etc. If anyone is telling a story through rose colored glasses it is Allison. She won't talk about her own woes, without trying to hurt or embarrass MC. Only she can say why she got pregnant at an early age, and then went out prostituting and that really has nothing to do with her jealousy of Mariah, but that is how she described it in that vintage video from the mid 90's, where she doesn't talk about her own problems, but complains about how the mother didn't keep her and that she was raised to think of herself as interracial. She has the deep rooted problems that only she can address. Mariah may have her own issues that only she may know or address.

Re: The kids are not alright (68,131) (68,133) by RibbonB from USA
Allison should deal with her life and issues. Morgan should deal with his life and his issues, but both try to paint themselves as tragic heroes while dragging their little sister down when they are not getting her money. We are all products of our childhoods and upbringing and everyone quoting Mariah, yet discounting her accounts is being a little contradictory. We all know less about Mariah's childhood than she does, that is a fact. Allison and Morgan are like crabs in a barrel, who can't believe the littlest one that could is still going despite their best efforts to bring her back down and eat her alive. That is how they come off to me. I don't agree with everything M. has done with her career, but she knows from whence she came and she keeps moving and plugging ahead despite their petty, and even cruel jabs. They were the older siblings, but look how f'd up their lives are, still mad that their little sister survived and shot into the stratosphere.

Re: Mariah's family (68,120) (68,132) by RibbonB from USA
Aww, I do miss her interviews from 2008-13. I just re-watched her 2011 interview with Rosie. She was so happy, relaxed, lucid, fun and sweet in this one. Dem Babies were just little nuggets. I love how Mariah recounts her childhood and how funny Rosie actually met her when she was a young child. I wil be happy when Mariah gets back to less stiff and or staged interviews. I love she is more relaxed and telling her life stories and having fun in interviews. Please, I hope she does something with Oprah very soon. Masterclass with Oprah would be epic, when she gets off of this extravagant, exhibitionist era perhaps.

Re: Patti Labelle to perform VH1 Divas Holiday special (68,112) (68,127) by RibbonB from USA
Oh this should be epic and it is about time they start featuring the real divas and legends. The past few year they have been faking it on these shows. Sing Mariah, sang Patti.

The black shorts and NY cap though. Good song though and glad she achieved a number one on the r&b charts. Fastest in 20 years I have read.

Re: Mariah's family (68,116) (68,125) by RibbonB from USA
You are recounting rumors and myth about her childhood that you read on the internet or from gossip from other randoms. She is more the expert on her own childhood even if she did hear some of it from her mother or siblings and I am sure she experienced a lot of it herself.

The View discusses prenup (68,098) by RibbonB from USA
I just saw a clip of the ladies on The View discussing the prenup on this mornings show. It was so funny when Whoopi said "she would never charge Mr. Packer that much", then she looked at the screen with his picture, then said, "well then again, maybe". Before the end of the segment she said "Mr. Packer call a bitch", the shade. Whoopi likes both Mariah and Nick, but she will crack a joke. I think Joy was on M.'s side, at least based on the rumors.

Re: Oh here the rumors come for the kids (68,068) (68,095) by RibbonB from USA
I don't expect her or her people to speak out to the press, since they could very well have planted that little tidbit too. This is the same camp who let out videos of children playing in a hotel room and thought that was cute. I put nothing past Camp Stellar. But yes we agree that pulling the kids into the mix is ridiculous. Also, M. had no plans of being a stop mom, I am sure of it.

Re: New pics (68,078) (68,079) by RibbonB from USA
Let's hope she soon settles down to more business and less show. For some reason, I keep thinking this election moment will be the tipping point. Yay, voting day is tomorrow. I hope things soon reach a more normal plateau.

Lol it would not surprise me, especially that last picture he posted. I thought that is a weird post, as if he knows them or something. Makes sense if he is him trying to troll.

Oh here the rumors come for the kids (68,052) by RibbonB from USA
This is bad from of course, the Daily Mail. They really should not bring up her parenting of the kids. But a reminder of why M. should be very aware of who she allows to be around her children. She and any other mother would be well served to ensure that they can get along with a partner, the good and the bad well before children are brought into the mix and taken on extended vacations etc.
