This week in Billboard chart history

On August 14, 1993, Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover", the lead single from her third studio album, Music Box, blasted onto Billboard's Pop Songs airplay chart at No. 12 (as it surged 40-13 on the Billboard Hot 100). The breezy summer smash still holds the record for the highest Pop Songs debut in the chart's now-22-year-history - although Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" tied the mark with its No. 12 bow (September 6, 2014).

I agree. Mariah had the Song of the Summer in 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2005. Dreamlover, Fantasy, Honey, Heartbreaker, and We Belong Together. I want another Song of the Summer. I think Obsessed and #Beautiful deserve inclusion. I know that unfortunately those singles didn't reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 but both are fan favorites and the public's reception to both songs was overwhelmingly positive.

Taylor Swift [censored], Mariah Carey is great. I love all of her 18 number one's.
