Mariah Carey has impressively raked in more than $70million for her festive classic All I Want For Christmas Is You. The singer, 52, is arguably best known for her 1994 Christmas hit, which made a glittering return to UK number one this year.
And the anthem is proving to be as popular as ever as Mariah has raked in more than $70million (£58million) for it alone in the 28 years since its initial release. The songstress had made more than $60million (£50million) in royalties for the track by 2016, according to calculations by The Economist.
And she has continued to be rewarded, as Mariah earns around $3million (£2.4million) per year for All I Want For Christmas Is You, the New York Post reported. With fans still playing the festive hit each year, it is likely that Mariah has now earned a total of more than $70million in royalties since its release.
The continued success of the track also saw Mariah, who takes an estimated cut of 20 per cent in her royalties, once again top the UK charts this Christmas season. She had only been number one in the UK singles charts once before with the festive track, reaching the top in 2020 - 26 years after its release.
But in December, the pop star knocked Taylor Swift off the top spot after the hitmaker scored a six-week reign with her single Anti-Hero.
