Mariah Carey's 1993 album Music Box is being reissued and expanded for its 30th anniversary. Carey's third album was a massive success and features the singles "Dreamlover" and "Hero" which both topped the US Billboard Hot 100. Third single, a cover of Badfinger's classic "Without You" was number one on the UK singles chart and around Europe and while the final 45, "Anytime You Need A Friend", didn't quite match the success of the first three, but still reached the top 10 and top 20 around the world.
This reissue is offered in 3CD and 4LP deluxe formats with the same tracklistings for both editions. It appends the international bonus track "Everything Fades Away" to the album and offers a selection of 15 rarities on CD 2 (and across LPs 2 and 3). Amongst these are what Sony claim are previously unreleased tracks such as "Workin' Hard", "All I Live For (Extended Version)", "My Prayer", "Hero (2009 Version)", "Anytime You Need A Friend (Extended Mix)", "Music Box (A Capella)" and two live performances from Top of the Pops: "Dreamlover" and "Without You".
Delving further inside, the stunning anniversary edition features a variety of previously unreleased tracks including Mariah's duet with Luther Vandross on "Endless Love" is also included, as is two brand new remixes from DJ Terry Hunter: "I've Been Thinking About You" and "Workin' Hard".
The final CD and vinyl LP in these deluxe editions features Carey "Live at Proctor's Theater, NY - 1993" which features 10 tracks, eight of which are previously unreleased (Hero and Dreamlover being the previously released cuts).
Music Box will be reissued on 2 February 2024 via Sony Music.
