In celebration of 30 years of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas", Tower Records on Dawson St in Dublin have put together a window display, paying homage to the iconic Christmas song. The display features a large cut-out of the singer, surrounded by singles.
The track made its Top 20 debut in 1994, hitting No. 12 on the Billboard US charts and No. 2 in the UK. It has since been in the Christmas charts year after year, with Billboard labelling it as Best Christmas Song of All Time in 2023 – though there are many who'd dispute that, pointing instead to The Pogues' classic, "Fairytale of New York".
The peak in the Official Singles Charts for Mariah Carey's track was reaching No. 1 in 2020, 26 years after the initial release of the track. No other song in UK chart history had spent more weeks in the Official Chart Top 40 before eventually reaching No. 1, according to the Official Singles Charts.
