Carey says no to Idol job
Mariah Carey has turned down the chance to be an American Idol judge because she can't be mean or dishonest. The singer admits she was approached by her musical director Randy Jackson, who is a regular judge on the TV talent show, but she couldn't bring herself to sit next to him on the show.
She tells MTV News, "I couldn't be mean to people, not that you have to be mean." Carey accepts that Jackson's fellow judge Paula Abdul is rarely unkind to wannabes on the show, but that's because she isn't a great judge of singing talent.
Catty Carey adds, "I'm not saying she's dishonest but I think that her thing was mainly like choreography and dance and my thing is really ears and singing." (Contact Music)
