NBC snags Mariah Carey Obsessed premiere
NBC has snapped up bragging rights as the first network to premiere Mariah Carey's anticipated "Obsessed" music video. The controversial video, also the lead single from Carey's new album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", features the record setting diva in drag (dressed convincingly as a man purported to be Eminem) for the first time.
Drag and all, "Obsessed" will premiere on America's Got Talent Wednesday, ironically a show hosted by hubby Nick Cannon. Taking the news to Twitter Friday, Carey wrote: "Just wanna let you know that the world premiere of the 'Obsessed' video is on 'America's Got Talent' (hosted by NCx0x) Wednesday night, July 15th!"
As previously reported the "Obsessed" video was directed by "Touch My Body" and "We Belong Together" director Brett Ratner. Shot in New York the video features Carey donning a grey sweatsuit, cap, and goatee.
Earlier this year, the Grammy winner proclaimed excitement over the single and its message: "The first single from my new album memoirs of an imperfect angel is called 'Obsessed' and will be at radio Tuesday. I'm a lil' exc. Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I love the whole album. I'm completely immersed in it. I can't wait for you to hear it," said Carey.
"Obsessed" was penned and produced by Mariah, The-Dream, and Tricky Stewart. Mariah Carey's twelfth studio album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" is due in stores August 25. (Examiner)
