The Irish in Mariah
Happy St. Patrick's Day. Did you know that Mariah's mother, Patricia Hickey, is Irish? Patricia's mother and father were from County Cork, Ireland. Her father was a musician. Patricia's parents decided to immigrate to the United States, hoping to further her father's music career, when Patricia's mother became pregnant. The couple decided to settle in Springfield, Illinois. Sadly, Patricia's father would die one month before she was born, most likely from the stress of the move.
Mariah is proud of her Irish roots, and has visited the country in the past. In fact, her nephew Mike (Alison's son), adopted their Irish ancestor's name of "Egan" when he was adopted by Mariah's mother, and traveled to Ireland with Mariah one year. (Mariah Planet)
