Christmas show (107,537)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I really want to see MC's Christmas show in Austin, Texas this year. There are still reasonable tickets still available. I might not get this opportunity ever again to see one of her Christmas shows. I am only hesitant about going because of the Sunday concert date and the horrible I-35 traffic in that part of Austin's university area. Libra Lamb are you ready? Who else has purchased tickets?

Next single has to hook them (107,532)

Big Energy was missing something for me. It did not have enough of MC. Whatever she releases as the first single is going to have to be reminisce of Fantasy, Dreamlover, Heartbreaker, Honey or ABMB. The song has to hook the young people during the first five days of its release.

I think Fantasy already had its revival moment with Big Energy. I doubt she'd go there again but reworking an old classic would be great. And stop limiting your posts RA.

Next single has to hook them (107,529)

I have kept my word about scaling back my messages to only 2-3 messages per week. However, I had to make a post about this one. I was at my high school's football game and the crowd went crazy when Fantasy ft. O.B.D. played on the field. The young people today could make Fantasy a hit again in 2025 if MC remiangined it to a new sample for a stadium jam ft. Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne. MC has to hook these young people with one of her old songs if she is going catch radio's attention next year. Maybe Fantasy is the song that could do it. What are the Lambs' thoughts?

Podcast (107,525)

The podcast was a cute moment. The hosts were certified lambs and I think their love for Mariah kinda put Mariah at ease. Nowadays during interviews she's mostly bored or goes off tangent but this interview she was calm, checked in and answered properly. She seemed a little nervous almost trying to see if the hosts are actually genuine in their compliments but once she realized they were, she let her personality shine. The interviewers matched her humour (I think Mariah's humor is seriously underrated). Nothing ground breaking really came of the interview, I think we scared Mariah into constantly stating she's no longer going to say "soon" when it comes to releases because the fans get agitated. Mariah sounded really humble when they talked about her impact in shaping the music industry and genre blending. She really is a legend. It's crazy how she set so many trends and I think she doesn't get enough credit. It made me sad when she said she was more confident performing back in the day than she is now. Probably because she could rely more on her voice back then. She talks about working on new things and I wonder what it means, like are all previous projects scrapped, is she still working on previous projects? What I wouldn't do to know the insights haha.

WBT AMA's voice teacher critique (107,515)

Jaron M. Legrair, a voice teacher, has been become very popular during past year with his YouTube video critiques. In his video, he breaks down MC's WBT performance and he gave a really good critique. We already knew MC is brilliant at reimagining her songs and Jaron picked up on that aspect during his critique.

AMAs performance (107,513)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Spot on, Mimi. Mariah isn't the only artist who receives a lot of criticism when she doesn't live up to what the industry praises her for. For example, Katy Perry's latest album is a far cry from her albums Roar and Prism. Pink [sic] has lost ability to write great catchy pop rock anthems that helped propel her career. Ed Sherran's [sic] last album was boring and lacked his catchy melodic pop gems that we have heard from him in the past. Beyonce stepped into country music without really thinking about the repercussions from the country music industry. There were more criticisms from male country singers than were anticipated.

AMAs performance (107,512)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |

I think the problem lies in the fact that everyone and I mean everyone including industry big shots are always talking about how insane Mariah's vocals are and everyone really focuses on how her voice is unparalleled that she kinda feels like she can't make mistakes. We know Mariah is self conscious so she probably feels like people will think less of her if her voice isn't "perfect" and we've seen that happen too. The ridicule she faces everytime she makes mistakes and people declaring it "her voice is over", "she's not what she used to be" and all, I guess it gets to her because again Mariah lives for the validation. I mean this woman spent the last 30 years of her life determined to only be photographed from one side because someone told her in the 90s that that's her good side. Mariah's voice is her identity and I think she's not ready yet to modify it. I'm ok with that, she's been trying to sing more and more live. I do believe most of the AMA performance was live if not fully because she isn't also great at lip syncing so much ahah we've seen it be very visible in some concerts. All I want is new music Mariah, feed us lambs lol.

In 2024, we have talked about MC lip syncing until the topic is making us all blue in the face. Lol. MC is going to do MC. There is not anything anyone can say or do that we will make her stop lip syncing. Let's go into 2025 optimistic about MC bringing something new. I really feel MC will own 2025. Maybe TEOM-Daydream 8.0 is on the way. We all know she has had 7 years to create some brilliant music.

I don't get confrontational easily, but I wouldn't like old evils to take over the message board again. The thing about lipping is just that it's so easy for me to see because I'm pretty observant and I also have a master's degree in Mariah. Being a real lamb takes up a lot of time and that's how I got my degree, you know? Me entiendes, colega? Lol.

MC would be smart to release a triology set in 2025 that includes MC16 (Q2), a jazz or gospel album (Q3), and The Butterfly Lounge (Q4). Surely, she has enough recorded material for three releases next year. Maybe a trilogy title like: Love, Blessed, and Beautiful. Who cares if they are not platinum sellers in a Taylor Swift record breaking sales era.

I come on this board often; I comment very rarely. When I do comment, it's usually to note the negativity and nastiness of Mariah's "fans" here. Robert is always positive and civil - and he's respectful to Mariah even when perhaps giving constructive criticism. We could all learn from him and, as far as his frequent posts, this board would be dead without him.

I rewatched the performance multiple times and it just warms my heart to see Mariah slowly but surely gaining her confidence back. I also loved the different arrangements she did in some parts of the song. How is this song almost 2 decades old but still gives people goosebumps? What a modern classic. Mariah looked like a true glamorous Hollywood diva. I'm so happy for her. She's been going through such a difficult time in the past few months and the fact that she's finding peace in her music, performance and fans is amazing to see. Not to mention the GP can't seem to get enough of her. She'll truly always be a queen.

Robert-Anthony just tends to have a lot of feelings. When the board goes quiet, he panics and jumps in with a random topic just to keep the conversation alive. But don’t take him for granted, one of these days, he might get himself a boyfriend, and the frequency of his messages could drop to just four or five per day. Then you'll end up missing him.
We love ourselves some Robert-Anthony.

Yes, I can't wait. So it looks like she is doing a medley. I am so happy she's rearranging them and being creative. That way even if it's not fully live at least it'll be something new with some effort behind it. I don't know if it's deliberate or not but all the performers seem to be old schoolers. Not one current pop artist. J Hud seems to be the youngest of the lot. I understand it's for their 50th show but all the nominees are current acts.
Ps. I love love love Mariah's look for the AMA interviews.

Right. I am trying to figure out how many awards shows has MC done an orginal/dance remix type of performance. I know the Heartbreaker/Love Hangover performance was released on a maxi CD single as well. If she does that type of performance for DFAU, it would be really cool. This is definitely the AMAs to record on your DVR to watch later during the holiday season.

This reminds me of Toni Braxton's remix performance of Unbreak My Heart remix, and also Mariah's own My All version at Diva's Live where she switched the end from ballad to upbeat, dance remix. That's what she should do with DFAU. Lambs don't seem to consider this song as one of her best, but I personally love it. But I would love a good twist.

Thanks, Mimi. That is what she should do for DFAU. It was #1 on two Billboard dance charts in 2006. Many people will think it is new version for the ceremony. It might be just DFAU so that she is able to put on a great performance about six minutes long ending with the Quentin Shelter remix. I am just hoping for a dance performance of DFAU. Someone enlightened me in my old age, the dance version of My All that MC performed on the VH1 Diva's special, was that a version she sang just for the special or is that one of the My All 12 inch remixes? I can't remember and my MC records are mixed in with my vinyl records scattered all around my apartment.

MC will probably include DFAU in the medley since it did help MC sell a million more copies of TEOM. I just hope she doesn't open the ceremony. Mimi L. are you basing that off the promo Mariah posted featuring DFAU? Billboard and another site reported a medley - I think she'll definitely do a medley. She has so many songs to choose (based on her celebration tour) from it - could be really fun:
It's like that Shake it off We belong together Circles Your girl Don't forget about us Fly like a bird

Robert Anthony, I think we are forgetting the live performances she was giving early last year. I made an effort not to see them because they made me uncomfortable. And if MC is one thing, she's self conscious and cares how she appears. I think she made a conscious decision after that that she'd rather fully lip and only look bad to the handful of us who notice rather than sound bad and off key to the entire world.
To the average listener, the vocals she's recorded for this year's live shows seem very much live. Do I wish she could still sing live? Yes I do. Am I going to renounce my lambily passport if she keeps lipping? Never in a million years.
I'm more interested in the music she releases to add to her catalog that I'll be listening to until I'm old and have no teeth. Will I care then whether she lipped or sang live 40 years ago in Beijing or Rio or Vegas? I think not. There are much bigger issues in the world to lose sleep over.

No, I am not trolling. Lol. Can a Lamb have hopes and dreams for MC to sing live without backing tracks? I have really had a concern lately for MC using backing tracks during live shows. The audience would really embrace her current voice, if she wouldn't make a big thing about it by using backing tracks so much.

It is really unique amongst her ballads. The liner notes indicate that she composed it with someone named Philippe Pierre. I've never heard her mention him in any interviews before, and I wonder how that collaboration came about. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are credited as co-producers on it.
