About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

Re: Mimi L (56,744) (56,745) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Thank you for your response Andrew and I appreciate it. I think I hardly ever call you out but I did feel like writing to ask if that is really the way you wanted to question her. I might have misunderstood your post and for that I apologize. I usually try not to tell people how to behave around or feel about Mariah (I do have opinions, but those are just that). Lord knows I have been called "delusional lamb" and "hater goat" on this same board. I am definitely not one to think Mariah is flawless or blameless in everything. She is human and like everyone else she has her flaws and I call her out when I think she is at fault and then face a lot of hate too lol. I would like to explain that when I wrote "used to" it wasn't to insult you or question your devotion, I just sometimes write like that to cover both sides so that I don't have to write another post in case the person I am writing to gives the "other scenario". I know I am probably not making sense, but everything aside. I didn't mean to insult you or anyone by that post. I also didn't mean to come off like I am questioning your love for Mariah's music, because I did tell you before that I believe you do love her contrary to what people may think by your posts. I feel bad after reading the post you wrote and how you feel about her so yet again, I am sorry. Your posts directed at me has always been respectable and for that I am grateful, and so I have always tried to be respectable towards you. So yes, no hard feelings I hope.

Re: Mariah's impact (56,741) (56,743) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
LC I agree with your post, Mariah never was and still isn't given enough credit. I would like to add to the part about the Christmas album, you might already know this but still I wanted to add that at the time Mariah made that album, she said she didn't want to do it. That is because she thought it was something people do around the end of their careers not 3 years into their career. But she later agreed and now it has become a staple, so that adds to your post about how people just assume that young artists making a Christmas album is common whereas the queen of Christmas herself was hesitant when making hers because before her, it wasn't such a common practice. She made it popular, she made it look like a profitable venture that if one manages to nail a good holiday anthem, they can live off its royalty for years (unfortunately people were not successful in replicating the success). Now everyone seems to have a Christmas album or EP even before they make it big like Ariana has one, Justin Bieber, Demi, and a lot more I don't even know the names of. It does sadden me that no matter what Mariah does, people always dutifully forget to give her any credit or praise her for it. They just think of her as the big voiced diva when she is so much more than that. Her voice is only one of her many talents/contributions.

Gow (56,739) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
New picture for the ad. I love it. I like that they kept her body fairly close to her current body so we won't get the photoshop backlash and they kept her face the way it was during the time the photo was taken. It has become smaller now but heck she looks great in any shape. Warrior-Riah is coming for you.

Re: My 5 questions (56,720) (56,722) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha Lee you might also want to add: "And also no 'I don't know her' because I have her CD right here and I will play it for you." Lol because you know if you tell her not to say "we love everybody" she will go for the legendary "I don't know her".

Harper's Bazaar (56,716) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So Mariah went to the HB event and she looked so good. I can't decide on whether I like the dress or not, but I have to say that she looks flawless in the pictures. Them boobies are out but it does not look bad here and look at that million dollar face. Mariah shining brighter than the diamonds around her neck. She looks so beautiful, I can't even.

Re: If you could interview MC and only ask 5 questions (56,697) (56,715) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Andrew, you get the chance of a lifetime to interview an artist you admire (or used to) and you will ask her questions that insult her or make fun of her? That's a little sad. I'd think that even if Mariah currently is not making the type of music you want, I would like to believe there was a time when she did, and given the chance to interview this person, is insulting her really the way to go?

Re: If you could interview MC and only ask 5 questions (56,692) (56,696) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Wow B your set of questions are fire. I want to know the answers to those definitely. Especially the tea on who stole the ideas and what the idea was. And oh my gosh do I want to know what she thought of L.A.'s comments. It must have stung at least a little since the comment was outright rude.

Re: B / Empire pic (56,672) (56,680) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I agree that she is looking slimmer and if you see her pictures from the side also, her stomach is now flatter than it was a few weeks back. It's better that she loses the weight slowly because that would mean she is taking the healthy route. She can drop the kilos quick with crash diets and all but that is neither healthy, nor good since she will gain back more really fast. At this point in her life, I want Mariah to chose to be healthy and happy. She also seems to have changed the hair color to a lighter blonde. Still hoping for a black/brown moment but I can live with this too. Whatever makes her feel good. Also you have 2, not 1 trademarks to register. "Slowly but surely" and "the vindication of B".

GoW (56,666) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The GoW ad is bringing out some negative press but to hell with that. The main idea with these advertisements is to get people talking and good or bad press, Mariah's name is getting them headlines all over so it's a win win for both parties. The gaming company is getting the publicity, Mariah is getting the cash and royalties. Haters are going to hate. I think the ad was cute and I liked the humor element to it. That's very Mariah. I'd rather have this than the Kate Upton versions of her in the bath tub and all. It's good that the focus is kept on the theme of the game and Mariah is their "aid" in the battle. Anyways, counting down to when JLo or someone else will be pulling the same move and be praised and admired while Mariah gets ridiculed. "Trendsetter-Riah" does not need anybody's approval. She's been setting trends (and being ridiculed for it) since she stepped into the limelight and them other irregularities come in and copy it and people think it's awesome. Bye Felicia.

Lol B, you should trademark that line now that it has reached legendary status. But in all seriousness, Mariah does look slimmer now. Doesn't she look very TEOM era right now?

Hahah I am super glad to hear that. Catch up on Season 1. Season 2 starts soon. Empire Season 2 starting September 23. Wednesdays, only on Fox. Haha.

Re: Mimi L. / Empire (56,650) (56,651) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Hahah yay. Hold on a second. *collecting checks from Lee* Haha. I am so glad you liked it though. I think the show is written really well and the characters are played to perfection. Everything from the visuals, to the story, to the character story lines and music are all done so nicely and tastefully. I love how over the top Cookie is.

Game of War (56,631) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Here is the new GoW ad. Mariah looks stunning, very TEOM era glam meets warrior. I love her in the armor. But why is she running in such a weird manner haha? But I wish there was more of her. She is there like for just a few seconds.

Glitter (56,606) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Happy birthday Glitter. You didn't get a chance to shine the way you deserved. Glitter (the soundtrack) was ahead of it's time. I will probably go watch the movie now.

Re: This is QHM, Warrior, Deedra, Mimi L (56,557) (56,559) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Haha you are right, it didn't match. I think the only time it matched was when she wore the same necklace (or a similar one) for her vow renewals in Paris, where she wore the white fishtail gown. Oh wait, it also looked good at the Rockefeller event. Although that night she had another major fashion faux pas with her fake tan (notice the glove region, tan mishap). I also agree that the choker she wore with the pink dress went with the dress. I liked the pink dress, the waterfall slit gave it a fun meets formal look. Sometimes she goes overboard with the accessories. Like big chunky diamond pieces with very casual attire (like the tank top moment this time).

Re: Article: Mariah Carey shows off the family jewels (56,554) (56,556) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes you are right, that necklace is not new. Nowadays these news outlets just make up stuff and pass them off as stories. However fashion advice for Mariah, that necklace does not go with that tank top. But I like her tank top though.

TMB (56,550) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Oh wow I almost forgot what a sexy song TMB is. It's like a more explicit "Honey". Where "Honey" relied on subtext and hints to deliver a sexy message, TMB is like full blown "I'mma draw you a picture about exactly what will happen between us in the boudoir". It's like an instruction booklet on foreplay hahah. I love it. I love everything about TMB. The breezy vocals, the sexy but witty lyrics, the laid back but quirky beat, the "hey ee yeah ee oh oh babyyy" and the "oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, ah ah ah". The video is one of my favorite Mariah videos. I love the sexy meets nerdy and cutesy elements. Also I love how she sings TMB here.

Justin and Why You Mad? (56,549) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Justin is back with a bang and this could have helped Mariah too, or still can. I know a lot of people on this board think Justin is crap, but his recent music is really good and I think his voice goes well with Mariah. If Mariah wants Why You Mad to ever be released, now would be the time. It actually might have been better if she released it right before the release of WDYM, when Justin fans were hungry for anything Justin releases but I think now can also be a good time and she can just ride on the wave of popularity and success his new song is getting. I think Why You Mad with just MC and JB is perfect. The rappers don't add much so they could just re-do the arrangements and it would be great with a simple video. America loves a good comeback and this is sort of just that with Justin since he basically ruined his image. Say what you want, laugh at him, it's undeniable that he is a huge pop star now and if it can help Mariah then why not? I like their vocal chemistry.

Re: Message board debacle (56,530) (56,532) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't know about the others but B is definitely not a shallow fan. He has been a huge supporter ever since he joined the board. He wasn't part of the weight arguments either. Or if he was, it was only to stop those topics. As for the topics you have mentioned, yes it's true but everyone has talked about those and made thousands of "top 10" lists on this board possibly covering every aspect of her career. Music videos, songs, live performances you name it. Yes I do not support the weight criticisms but I see nothing wrong in the other things that are being discussed here.

Re: Change (56,475) (56,477) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes I don't know why Mariah even agrees to step out in those clothes. The clothes are not flattering and that definitely affects the way she appears in photos. I heard the same person who dressed her for Idol is dressing her now so I don't know why on earth he is messing up. Big time. Mariah is one of the richest entertainers out there. She can afford anything, so I don't understand her clothing choices. We definitely need Mariah to get into Balmain mode. Heck even JLo scored a photo spread with Balmain just recently (which pissed me off to no end since I have been going on and on about how Mariah should try them out for months now). Balmain somehow looks flattering on different body types because Kim K also wears a lot of Balmain and we all know she is quite curvy and has a wide frame but yet Balmain makes her appear sleek. It'll look even better on Mariah since she has the tall frame. Edgy is definitely the way to go now. We have had years of old Hollywood glamorous Mariah, switching to a more edgy glam would be nice. Plus I would love to see her back in brown hair or even black if she is up for it. Campaign for Rachel Zoe and Balmain to be introduced in Mariah's glam squad.

Change (56,468) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Surgery or not Mariah definitely needs a change. It'll make her feel refreshed too. I say go for the edgy. I'd like her to go brunette at least temporarily. A soft brown if black is too drastic for her. Get a shorter length for the hair. Plus I still wish she'd try Balmain. She was hanging out with Balmain's designer in Paris multiple times yet I didn't see her wear any of his designs. I think Balmain balances the edgy-sexy-classy really well. Plus a lot of their designs have the boobs covered and legs out, which I think would look great on her since she has long legs. The gowns should go. They age her. She looks much younger in casual attire or shorter flowy dresses. Before anyone has a breakdown and tells me to stop telling Mariah what to do, save it, it'll fall on deaf ears.
