Did you all see the new snippet Mariah posted on her insta (and other socials) of the MIMI lights backdrop and put the curious eyes emoji. I wonder what she's hinting at.

Biopic (108,772)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Ugh the Precious interviews by Mariah were so cringe because all she kept talking about was how Lee made her ugly as if we don't understand character transformations. She was so focused on making people understand that it's not just her without makeup and that they had to do a lot to make her look that way. Like Mariah girl we've seen your flawless face without makeup we know it's not like that character. She was playing such a pivotal role in the movie and all she talked about was her look and how painful it was.

I have to disagree. Going back in the fridge after Christmas has stopped her ageing process. She's the new Cher, even if she has to go on stage, sit on a throne chair, pop her CDs in and waves herself through her concerts like the true diva she is. Even her "dahlings" and "do you like the ensemble?" will be lipped because it would prevent wrinkles around her mouth. Lee Daniels forced overhead lighting on her during the filming of "Precious" and she ended up with a mustache. I personally use it when I want to grow my beard. She knows what she's doing.

Those that know me also know lists bring me joy. For completeness, here is the current most up to date download of reasons why Mariah can't or doesn't sing anymore. Let me know if any need adding I've forgotten.
1. Ear monitor malfunction 2. No humidifiers 3. Too cold 4. Too hot 5. Stage fright 6. Corset too tight 7. Heels too high 8. Preserving her voice 9. Scared of Michael Jackson's casket 10. Didn't want to upstage the Queen of Soul 11. Wanted to respect her peers 12. Bronchitis 13. Stressful divorce/break up 14. Arm in a sling 15. Pregnant 16. Not pregnant 17. Nodules 18. Too many splashes 19. Medicated 20. Backing singers missed their cue 21. Backing singers singing her part now baby 22. Foiled by Dick Clarke Productions 23. Late for the sound check 24. Biopic (108,747)

It all makes perfect sense the way you explained it. She barely moves and keeps a straight face because clearly, she got Botox even in her knees too, on top of the fact that she's on the early stages of her defrosting phase, so moving would be very painful and cracky. And of course, since Glitter was such a traumatic event, she’s been taking a nice, honey IV like running seven year stroll toward this biopic. I'm about to cry. It's like I just had a big fat epiphany. How did I not see this sooner when it was right there in my face? Maybe the overhead lighting in my head, but now: I can see, I can see.
Now I finally understand, she’s been writing one song per year since 2018, so by 2030, we’ll have a full 12-track album just in time for her retirement party.

Mariah's probably been heavily involved in her biopic. She's posted pictures with Lee Daniels. It's coming out some time soon. With her barely trying to be convincing when she lip syncs - it's quite obvious. She just doesn't want wrinkles to develop faster. At 56, aging has caught up with her. She's doing everything in her power to slow it down. Mariah is all about how she looks. I mean she quite literally didn't care if she was being given a tribute by Moni and Tori, it was bad lighting when Mariah was in the frame. And she will not hesitate to show her dismay. All lambs should accept that this is just who Mariah is. This is just how a beauty queen ages. She's touring and showing up and takes the time to pre-record. Nobody can say she didn't maximize her time. Musicians usually retire from performing by their 60's. We are four years away from that. So just enjoy what ever she can scramble to offer at this point. She literally devoted her whole entire life to music.

What did Mariah mean? (108,748)
by Philipp from Switzerland
| |
|
|
in September 2024, Mariah was interviewed by Vanity Fair. Mariah said the following. What exactly do you think she meant by that? Her siblings maybe, and her mother?
Vanity Fair: The book felt very honest. Looking back at it, are there things you left out that you wish you hadn't? Mariah: Some things are just too much. But there are some things in the book that I wish weren't in the book. Not that they were wrong or that they were inaccurate. But you learn later: Oh, I shouldn't have done that.
Vanity Fair: Because it hurt people in your life? Mariah: Because it potentially hurt people in my life. I don't know, because I don't talk to certain people in my life.

There is no album, it's all facade (108,738)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I don't think she's lying about working on music, but I also don't think she's as invested in making an album. What I mean is as a songwriter she must constantly be getting tunes and lyrics in her head and she probably writes it down or does a quick demo but never actually goes full into production. I'm deducing this from her saying she has 10 songs she just needs to add vocals etc. I also think after the flop of her last few projects she's scared of releasing new stuff because no matter what people think numbers are a big deal to her, it's her flex, so she's scared of losing. But what she should know is her last few albums didn't flop because of lack of quality, it was because of wrong single choices and bad videos that no one would rewatch.

When she tours, lambs ask why she's touring when there's no new material, and gets accused of being lazy. So she teases and creates rumor that there's an upcoming album when there isn't any to shut them down.
That's been her MO since she became a Christmas lady. Y'all should get used to the fact that no album is coming. The whole .Paak thing is more facade from Mariah. She just wants to piggyback on her legacy and name to tour because there's no more money from albums and recording anymore.
She's creatively and artistically bankrupt. Sorry to be the one to post obvious.

Deeply concerned (108,729)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

I was wondering the other day why is Mariah still touring when she clearly doesn't want to. Is it a financial reason? Is it a contractual obligation? If it's financial I wonder why then she keeps adding to her expenses by renting out really expensive houses when she has her amazing penthouse and I'm sure other properties she owns. Also it must not be cheap always having her glam team around with all these tours. I really hope she's doing good and if not I hope someone is honest with her about it. I know her kids are really young but they're probably the only ones who truly care about her. Mariah didn't need gimmicks or choreography to be a strong stage presence. All she needed was a mic stand and her voice with a spotlight on her and she'd be mesmerizing but she just seems to disengaged and not feeling it nowadays. It's sad. After all the hard work she's done in her career I would hope she's at a comfortable position now where she doesn't have to work if she doesn't want to.

Whoever is pushing her to keep tarnishing her impressive legacy like this needs to be fired. There's clearly something off with her, and I just hope she doesn't end up like Michael and Whitney. Beyonce can lip, but at least she dances her ass off and sings her ballads live. Celine was full of energy with a huge production behind her, but Mariah didn't need all that, her voice alone carried the show. Now she just stands there and lips unconvincingly. You would think by now she would at least put on more energetic performances, invest in better production, have more moving parts on stage, or get a new choreographer. It's time to hit the gym without high heels and hit that stage like the star she is. Sadly, her performances are copy-paste jobs. You can see it in the comments on those clips, even the yass queens are starting to notice.

Get Your Number (108,728)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Ok I'm here to rant. I was rewatching the Mimi videos and tell me why GYN isn't a big hit. The song is catchy AF, I love Mariah alternating between rap-style and singing. It's such a sexy song and I love how it kinda flips the table and has a female empowerment or alpha female vibe to it because she's the one making the moves on the guy, buying him drinks, telling him not to be shy and flexing her luxury lifestyle. The video is done so well too. I love every scene and Mariah looks great in every shot especially the white blazer look. The video has great visuals, a celebrity cameo, a story line overall great replay value. It's sad not many people know this song. I mean come "I got a pip penthouse with a sick hot tub, we can watch the flatscreen while the bubbles fill it up" yas Mimi.

I agree, TAOLG was a beautiful title. It also fit in with where she was mentally at that time - slowly letting go of Nick. I also really loved the cover art for TAOLG with her sitting on the beach a lot more than the versions she used for MIAM. #Beautiful could very well have been a big hit, top 5 if not #1. It was fresh, sexy and her and Miguel's chemistry was great. I didn't like the videos because they were so lame, you Joseph Kahn to direct a video and that's what you do with it? He directed some of Taylor's biggest videos. I liked the remixes to #B too and don't understand why they didn't release the remix video because they said they did finish it. Another great single would have been Faded. Unpopular opinion but I really enjoy "Money" too, a high budget video with Mariah doing Mariah things (being glam and luxurious) while tying in some celeb friends for replay would have been Nice. Also don't get me started on the YME video - I enjoy the song but you finally get Mariah out of bed (or any indoor object she's laying around on in her videos looking sexy) and get her into the wilderness for a stunning shot only of her to be just sitting there covering her boobs in the same position the whole time. If you're going to do a play on the Little Mermaid story commit to it.

I agree. The Art Of Letting Go is definitely the best title to define her personal life at that time. I believe if she sticks to that "letting go" theme for the album, then the album would have had more success. She should just release the album in 2013 right after she was done with American Idol finale with Beautiful as the first single, followed by You Don't Know What To Do for the summer hit single, then The Art Of Letting Go at the end of 2013, You're Mine for the Valentine single in 2014, then double singles released for Make It Look Good and Mesmerized, and ending the era of the album with classic cover Lullaby Of Birdland. Those 7 songs are enough to make that album a hit and put Mariah on the map for another successful comeback in 2010's era.

She actually did haha, in the promo for MIAM she says something about how she's had many nick names along the way and "lately they've been calling me The Elusive Chanteuse". Which was wild haha because by that point I was obsessed with her and had never heard anyone call her that. I can buy her actually having the name Mimi but TEC was a definitely made up. Also y'all let's stop fighting over her nick name and go back to fighting over her year of birth. Haha kidding.

Mimi calendar (108,699)

Has anyone seen the new video upload for the new DFAU remix? The visuals are of the 2025 calendar highlight certain important dates like Fourth of July, Christmas etc, it also has dates like Mariah's, the twins and Kaytranada's birthdays, it also has dates of milestone moments from Mimi but what interests me most is it has dates highlighted that we don't know what's happening. Like May 30th is in gold so we know that's the release of TEOM reissue but then June 6th has a caution/exclamation sign wonder what that is. It also has one where there are high heels not sure what that represents. The calendar also shows she's booked and busy hahah but surprisingly nothing about her holiday shows. Anyone has any guesses what the unknown highlighted dates mean?

Mariah has been scrapping material like nobody's business. "Just let it die, with no goodbyes. Details don't matter, the lambs paid the price (with their patience)." Another TEOM won't happen for Mariah or anyone other than Taylor, but I hope her next body of work gets good promotion.

I guess MC really did scrap those ten songs from 2023. Do you think their collaboration will enable MC to have sales numbers like TEOM's first week and year-end sales numbers? I believe MC and .Paak can do it. I am feeling good about their collaboration. What if MC16 is the type of music that MC has never done before? Songs that make people say hmmmmm. Did Mariah just say what I have been thinking for years?

It's not only you. "When I Feel It" is not a bad song, it's just an unpolished filler. I never heard anybody claim it was a potential hit. I like it more than "Secret Love" and "Sprung" though. The "Once in a Lifetime" ringtone, had it be turned into a full song, it would've been a great one. There's one song that nobody ever talks about that could've been #1, it's called " Migrate".

I might get cancelled for this but is it just me that doesn't really "feel" the song [When I feel it]. Like I don't get the hype. I have seen a lot of people really wanting this to be released and thinking it's a hit and I know music is subjective but personally I never have the urge to listen to it. Like I played [it] the other day just to refresh my memory and I was still like meh. So Lonely, One and Only and GYN would be songs I'd like to see promoted.

by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Yes I was hoping for fresh/unheard material and not remixes we've already listened to. I was also thinking she'll have new visuals but they are all recycled. Lastly it would have been cool to have like a coffee table book or a mini book of stories behind the songs, videos etc, unreleased or BTS photos. She could have detailed out how she landed on doing a 2 part MV for WBt and ILT, the Easter eggs in SIO and DFAU, her collaborations with Louis Vuitton and Nokia for SS. She could have also included recreations of her iconic TEOM album images. This album redefined Mariah Carey, resuscitated her career and introduced her to a new generation, the celebration for this album should have been way more elevated.

Let me start off on a positive note, I'm glad Mariah is doing something to celebrate the anniversary of this amazing album. As much as I loved Mariah growing up, this album truly made me a huge fan of hers. Now with that being said, I'm going to need Mariah to reach into that vault and find a hidden demo or track from that album. Lol. I'm excited to hear the a capella version of Circles, but other than that, everything else is just remixes. Many of them have been released or leaked years ago. I was really hoping for something new. But who knows, maybe she'll have more surprises coming. Anyone know the code for Pepsi Headquarters vault? We need those ringtones released.

I have always wondered something about one of the lines in "Loverboy". When Mariah sings "When he invites me over, I come every time," did she mean she goes over to hang with him every time she is invited or does she mean that he brings her to orgasm every time? She was dating Luis at the time the song was recorded, so if it's the latter, he must have been loving her down.
The songs lyrics give me the same vibe as the "Honey" lyrics where I am unsure if Mariah's being intentionally provocative or doing her coquettish "I'm Mary Poppins" shtick and playing dumb about the double entendres lol.

Tanaka did provide a sense of guidance for her performances and personal life. It was like he was the rock she could lean on to guide her on a daily basis and tell her no to some business ventures or performances.
Also, Mimi we miss your sound and beautifully written analysis on the board. Where are you? I pray all is well in your world. We would love to read your comments about MC's Vegas shows and MC16.
