About Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter:

Apple 100 (106,505) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Sorry I meant Apple TV. Didn't she have two Christmas specials with them? That put her in hot waters with Spotify. Mariah needs to fire her team and get a team of fresh minds. She's definitely a great artist but not a good businesswoman.

Apple 100 (106,502) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Apple released their list of 100 best album of all time and while the list is very controversial what's surprising as a lamb is Mariah is nowhere to be seen. This is especially crazy since Mariah has been doing exclusive deals with them which has worked against her because due to these deals Spotify which is a bigger player kept her out of big playlists. So I wonder how Mariah feels about this. I also wonder did she go with Apple because that's the only streaming that wanted to work with her or she had a choice and made a bad decision.

Variety interview (106,501) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So from her Variety interview it seems her album is nowhere near completion and we can forget about Angel's Advocate ever seeing the light of the day haha.

First listen (106,463) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't know how to feel haha. I think the chorus is too busy and her verse seems very reminiscent of an old song of hers I can't quite place it. I don't really see this song doing much for Mariah. May help Muni get some international lambs. I don't know what is Mariah's team's strategy. Instead of doing these side remixes that's not doing much for her, she should focus on her own projects.

Tune in to The Voice tonight (106,461) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Looks like she did post later haha. She retweeted the same image JD put in with the "thinking emoji" pretending that she doesn't know what the lambs are talking about. Then mentioned it's coming. Wondering if she'll perform it. Also Muni wrote "yall aren't ready for RapRiah" so are we getting new verse?

Tune in to The Voice tonight (106,458) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I'm just surprised there's not a word from team Mariah about it? Lol like they gave up on it before it even released. With Ariana's atleast there was some "teasing". Also JD is a great producer but dude has a hard time promoting stuff (flashback to MIAM era disaster). What mess is he upto on his insta with the nonsense posts? Like he posted this screen grab about how Mariah fans are disappointed the song didn't release as promised on time and they're venting on twitter and he posted it with a "thinking" emoji. Like dude what? Hahah.

Article: Mariah spent Mother's Day weekend in Westchester (106,431) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I was thinking the same, there maybe be conflicted feelings there and Mariah may have felt indebted to her mom for helping her learn and polish her singing and she must have looked up to her as a singer, but on the flip side there may have been a strain from Patricia becoming jealous of her own daughter (hence the "you'll be lucky if you become half a great singer as I am" - not an exact code) and the 911 incident along with other incidents we don't know of that may have happened that later down the line Mariah realized were abusive or cruel. It's sometimes easy to confuse abuse with tough love/care especially when she has been primarily living with Pat the whole of her childhood. She probably grew up and realized she doesn't need that negativity. Also maybe behind the scenes her mom didn't support her through the mess Morgan and all put her through and she felt betrayed. Mariah still gives her mom credit where it's due. She probably just realised as she had her own family that her own was a bit messed up.

Muni Long remix (106,403) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Keeping hope for the remix but I think it's once again a bad strategy. That song was most popular when it was a viral TikTok trend. It has since been replaced by "Espresso". Although Save Your Tears remix became huge even after happening a year later I doubt this will be the case for MC because Ariana and Weeknd are two of the biggest streaming artists so their combined fandom is what got the song to the top. Lol I was so hopeful of the Ariana collab that this time around I'm keeping my expectations low. I wish it was an original song, not a remix.

Insider stuff (for laughs) (106,384) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The MC x Ari tweet got me thinking what Mariah is up to. I don't know if she really found a partner to stream yet but I'm glad that there's still hope for TBL.

Muni Long remix (106,372) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Mariah has another confirmed remix on the way. Y'all have been wanting her to remake this song so she hopped on the remix. She sounds divine and I'm sure I'll enjoy it just sad it won't do much for her.

Article: Mariah Carey recalls feeling the need to "disappear" (106,367) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
So I'm confused, this episode is about "Portraits" only? But then she talks about TBL and it says she'll explore more songs. Someone break it down for me lol, I'm having a dumb brain day.

Influence - Dem Teens (106,364) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Dem Babies are now older than Mariah haha. The way Mariah raised these kids is honestly really beautiful. She is a massive diva but Monroe and Rocky both seem like very normal kids of their age. I love that she's letting them have a normal childhood as much as they can. It'll be interesting to see if they influence her. They already do in some ways because that's how she connected with Ariana, Marshmello, the Kardashians, etc.

Met Gala (106,363) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
You are correct, not only did she never attend the Met Gala, she also never featured on the cover of Vogue. The latter surprises me more because even though Mariah hasn't consistently been a fashion trendsetter, she has been iconic in more ways than one and I've seen people with less accolades be on the cover multiple times. I would have imagined she would have been on the cover either during her 90s peak or her TEOM/Einstein era. As for the Met Gala, how attendance works is it's $75k per person ticket or you can book a whole table for $350k plus Anna needs to approve the guest. Mariah is usually smart with her money so maybe she never wanted to shell out so much? Also what frequently happens is the designer buys the whole table and picks celebs to go with them, so I'm surprised Donatella and D&G never took her since they're such good friends. Alaia and Karl too. Lastly I think Mariah might feel like the Met is too much pressure for her. She does often feel insecure of being photographed in an angle she can't control and the Met is the biggest red carpet of them all so she might not feel up to the pressure that comes with walking that carpet. She isn't the only A lister never to attend though - Britney, Brad, Angelina, Meryl Streep, Ryan Gosling, Jen Aniston etc also never attended. I always wanted to see her on the Met carpet really taking chances but honestly I've come to terms with her not attending especially with now it just including random people like instagrammers and TikTokers. I still hope to see her on Vogue and other major magazines like Forbes and Time.

Adressed to Infinity haters (106,350) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I actually like the verses of Infinity. I thought it was clever, funny and fresh. But it's the chorus that kinda kills it for me and is hard to sing along to. That's what takes the song out for me. But the music, the funny lyrics and all were good. It's definitely not her worst song.

Taylor (106,302) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I feel like this whole discussion has been misunderstood. At no point did anyone put them in the same category, in fact quite the opposite, it was mentioned multiple times that Taylor is majority hype vs talent while Mariah is the opposite so it almost seems unfair. But to your point Taylor isn't where she is just because she is current. There are plenty of current talented artists who haven't reached her level of impact that we've seen from her in the past 2 years. People, including big publications, are even scared to write anything negative about her. All that being said, let's give credit where she's due, Taylor does write her own stuff and hardly uses that many co-writers. She wrote whole of "Speak Now" by herself and lot of tracks on her current album has her solo credits. She's no Beyoncé changing one word and then getting credit.

Taylor (106,298) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Side note to this (and this isn't a direct response to anyone's opinion just my thoughts) the aspect of songwriting. Mariah can write circles around Taylor because Mariah's songwriting is more graceful, mature, elegant and eloquent. Not only her lyrics and music but her layering and creating a wall of sound with just her voice. Yet unfortunately songwriting is not what Mariah is known for and I think from day 1 they should have highlighted her songwriting more than her voice because there's no hiding her voice but her songwriting wasn't and isn't well known because she's not out there with a guitar in hand. This was a missed opportunity on her team's part of another aspect that set Mariah apart. She has 19 #1's but not a lot of people know that 18 of those are self penned, some as early as when she was a teenager. Taylor's team puts a lot of highlight on her songwriting.

A Daydream release in 2024 (106,286) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I've come to accept that Mariah won't have another big era. Let alone anything remotely close to TEOM. She no longer has the drive or hunger to prove herself and that's not bashing her, it's just the circumstance. Back then she had the fire because she was still young and people had written her off and disposed of her all because her ex husband decided to be messy. She had to reclaim her throne. Now she's settled into her legend status, she has her 2 babies, she is earning a lot from touring. She has nothing left to prove so she won't go as hard. Plus the promo aspect. Nowadays promo is everything. People have short attention spans and you gotta really set yourself apart by doing creative promo and I don't think Mariah has that team. In fact we don't known who her team is. Even her social media is not at the level of someone of her status. I was living in delulu land for a while hoping for one last hurrah haha but I think I have now accepted this is the new reality of icon. If she does prove me wrong I would be the happiest but I doubt it. I just hope she's mentally in a good space and we get the chance to enjoy some new material when she's ready. Whether it's an album or collabs.

Hahaha you know being a lamb I pay extra attention to lyrics. Yes, I know the interview you are talking about, it was a few years back when her career was going through a decline. I agree most artists try to maximize their gains at their peak and yes Mariah used to release albums almost every year for the first 5 years and every 2-3 years after that, but no artist released as much as Taylor did in the last 2 years. 2 re-recordings, 2 new albums and a tour. Also hard launching her relation with Kelce haha. I'm reading many articles where people are saying it's too much too soon.

Same boat. I won't lie. I enjoy a few of her songs and I do think she's talented but her PR team and fans put her on this god like pedestal which is too much. I feel like her material is the same as when she was 16 only with a more polished writing. I find it amazing how she continues to bash people and no one bats an eye. In the new album she again brings up Kim K and says her mom wished Kim was dead and I thought wow imagine if someone said that about her. Same with her bashing Matty Healy (that guy from what I have seen is a thorough mess) but at the same time she is lashing out at her fans for being shocked about his relationship with her, asking them to stop "bitching and moaning" and calling them names. She knows her songs send her fans in a frenzy to go attack her exes and she makes sure they know which ex she's talking about by putting specific clues in her songs and then pretending to be shocked when they decode it. She talks multiple times about cheating on her partners but then is pissed when her partner does the same to her and her fans also just causally forget that she is also doing something wrong. Anyways I just find it funny how she does things to others that she claims she's the victim of.

A Daydream release in 2024 (106,279) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
The entertainment industry isn't too forgiving of female stars after a certain point. Think about it, few years back Rihanna was at this high where we were scared she's about to overtake Mariah's record of #1's and now it seems like music is the farthest thing on her mind and she's enjoying her down time. Beyoncé too has lost some of her impact, she's still big but not the same as before. Look at Ariana, she was churning out hit after hit and her current album almost vanished into thin air. She's one of the biggest streaming artist so her latest stats were disappointing for her. When you over saturate yourself on the public eye for so long it leads to them losing interest after a point.

It's her and her team's PR strategies that are impeccable. She went from being a social pariah to the biggest musical star in current times. She's talented yes but that isn't what led to her immense fame. Her team and Taylor herself are very business savvy and they created this sense of FOMO around her where people are scared to miss out on the Taylor Swift phenomenon. She feeds pieces of her lives to her fans and created this sense of "oh she's so relatable" bond which makes her look accessible yet a mystery all at once. Also her promotions are very engaging and strategic. She has become this entity where she can do no wrong. Although Mariah and Taylor are at very different stages in their careers, promotional aspect of Mariah's career especially in the last decade has seriously been lacking.
