About Matty from Vancouver Canada:
I love music of all kinds, with R&B and pop toping my list of favourite genres. I've been a Mariah fan since Charmbraclet, there was something about that album that connects on a deep level. Other favourite albums are Glitter, Daydream, The Emancipation of Mimi, and Me. I Am Mariah.
My Favourite Mariah Songs are: The Art of Letting Go, Fantasy & Shake It Off.
My Least Favourite album is Music Box.
My most start-to-finish listened album (don't-skip-a-track albums): Emotions, Butterfly, The Emancipation of Mimi and Me. I Am Mariah: The Elusive Chanteuse.

I would love if she did something totally out of the box. Like you said, an artistic cover without her face at all would be such a great change of pace. A new sound and a new approach to album art would go a long way in showing a fresh creative side. Emotions cover art and E=MC2 cover art is the most out of the box Mariah's gotten on a Mariah cover, she should push the limits way more then that. I still [wish] The Art of Letting Go single art was the main cover of MIAMTEC.

I love [the] Unforgettable remix. [This] is the exact, fresh, new, relevant sound Miss Mariah should channel for her new album. It suites the evolution of her voice perfectly and I'm pumped she's trying a new sound. It's so 2000-now.

Publicist vs. manager (77,865)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|
|
Manny, you are so right. Where the hell is Mariah's publicist? Manager and publicist are two very different jobs, and MC's always had both, Cindy and Benny for example (correct me if I'm wrong). Mariah's image is being dragged. Stella can be her manager if Mariah thinks she's doing well and opening new doors. However she needs a professional publicist who doesn't respond to a third tier outlet like TooFab out of bitterness (how Stella has time to speak with TooFab with all the goings-on escapes me), but rather responds to proper news outlets, not blogs and gossip sites. Stella is simply unflattering in the public sphere.

Re: Can someone recap the Memoirs remix saga (76,619) (76,624)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada

I honestly wish the remix albums got released. The Jump Smoker's version of "Obsessed" and "Inseparable" were the best version of those songs. I loved UOMF with Nicki and "It's a Wrap" with Mary J. I don't think they would have pulled the plug if they knew Memories was going to be a success compared to MIAM. I like MIAM 100x more, but commercially Memories was the bigger success (168K in the first week vs. 58K). I also appreciated that everyone was telling MC it's time to work with someone other then JD, so she did. I also liked she was stepping into EDM with the Jump Smokers. If they had dropped the original Memories, Angel's Advocate, and MC vs JS all on the same date, I think it would have been a brilliant move (because no one has done that before). This is a weird cork, but it bothers me that her tour for Memories is called "Angel's Advocate" but the Angel's Advocate album was never released. It feels like an incomplete project.

Address the real gossip and press (76,559)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada

Humiliating. This has now gotten humiliating. Cedric Yarbrough now speaking out: "I miss 'I had a vision of love' Mariah. Be a damn professional." Wow. Stella, this is the sh*t you respond to. Not crap about Tanaka. Literally no one in the real world, the living general public knows who that person is. When major credible Hollywood actors and film industry professionals share their experience with your client, clean out your damn ears and respond professionally. At this point an apology is owed to the entire film crew. I never wanted to pass judgement until something really proved to me this women is Mariah's Sam Lutfi (Britney). Her Conrad Murray (Michael). I'm truly shocked by what's coming out of "The House" film set. This isn't "fun playful diva antics", this is the destruction of a soul. Jermaine Dupri, Lee Daniels, Nick Cannon, Rae Rae, Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Trey Lorenz, Jay-Z and Beyonce, Randy Jackson, Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys, Barbara Walters, Mary J., Patti Lebelle, Da Brat, Patricia Hickey. Where are you all? Infiltrate this current entrapment camp.

Damn, and Will Ferrell is Mariah's friend. This is embarrassing. People used to praise working with Mariah as being so "focused and extremely professional", and now she's getting cut from her own friend's film, doing a simple cameo no less. This makes me so disappointing because so few people want to work with her since American Idol.

Clown was the best thing to come out of the Eminem feud. He was vicious in his retaliation (Bagpipes From Baghdad, The Warning, Superman, When The Music Stops, Jimmy Crack Corn... ruthless). I love "I Don't know her" and "I still Don't know her" as pop culture references, but I hated how it framed Mariah as a female hater. I honestly don't think Nicki and Mariah hate each other. I think they got carried away on A.I. and the stunt spiralled out of control. I could see them doing another song together. Up Out My Face ft. Nicki should have been the album version, and it was also Nicki's first entry onto the Billboard Hot 100. Both are great friends with Beyonce; the power of Beyonce can repair them, lol.

Yes, it would have been nice to have the pride collection release in June during Pride Month (which commemorates the June 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City). However I don't believe we should start troll Mariah's team for their chosen shipping date of July 3rd. Let's keep things in the positive. There are still many many Prides marches and celebrations that occur around the western world in months of July and August:
Canada: Calgary, AB Vancouver, B.C Victoria, B.C. Kelowna, B.C Lethbridge, AB Halifax, N.S Montreal, QC Ottawa, ON
United Kingdom: Bourne, UK Brighton, UK Bristol, UK Cornwall, UK Cymru, UK Doncaster, UK Hull, England Glasgow, UK Kent, UK Leeds, UK Liverpool, UK London, UK Manchester, UK Newcastle, UK Nottinghamshire, UK Norwich, UK Sheffield, UK Swindon, UK Wakefield, UK Walsall, UK Warwickshire, UK Belfast, Northern Ire.

I love the Pride tanks. Funny story, I tried to get the exact same style white, Mariah facing head-on, tank made for myself last year for Pride in Vancouver and Ottawa and the printing shops in both cities couldn't do it because of legalities and copyright infringement. So happy to get my wish this Pride season.

Favourite none singles: All in Your Mind and Prisoner. Favourite singles: Vision of Love and There's Got to Be a Way. Wow. 27 years. Billboards top songs in 1990: 1. Wilson Phillips - Hold On 2. Roxette - It Must have Been Love 3. Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U 4. Bell Biv DeVoe - Poison 5. Madonna - Vogue 6. Mariah Carey - Vision of Love 7. Phil Collins - Another Day in Paradise 8. En Vogue - Hold On 9. Billy Idol - Cradle of Love 10. Jon Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory I would argue that 1-6 are all iconic song, you still regularly hear them on the radio 27 years later. That's an amazing achievement.

Re: Gay anthem? Gay icon (76,209) (76,211)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada
| |
|
|
I really enjoying reading everyones perspective on this. It's very true, is MC truly a gay icon, or does she simply love her gay fans? I do remember Mariah doing an interview in Canada openly supporting gay marriage back '06 (we had just legalized gay marriage in 2005), and also over the years celebrating gay couples in her audience, like when she brought the couple on stage for the proposal, and then of course her gaungles who were on the only strong relationship she witness as a child. I've personally always seen Mariah as a private/personal gay icon, where she is publicly apolitical, but through her music, lyrics, and conducts helps to build up and encourage her gay lambs from the background. She's not out there like Gaga making waves and smashing boundaries. But on a personal level she has. However I suppose whether you're gay, a person of colour, or societally disadvantaged, she does the same thing for you. One thing, there is no doubt she has inspired the drag scene ascetically. She's not at the forefront of the gay movement, but she's done her quiet part by empower her gay fans, who have then gone out into the world and made waves.

Gay anthem? Gay icon (76,194)

At least you know that Netflix produces quality and classy product; they never create anything looks cheap, or produce anything that's not properly developed start to finish. This should have been the route MC went rather then going with E. Network.
