About Edouard from France: Favourite song ever : Always Be My Baby......and Butterfly.....and..

Re: Unheard vocals - Anytime You Need A Friend (67,853) (67,868) by Edouard from France
This sounds like what should have been the original version. We all know that Dreamlover was meant to sound more obscure, I'm sure that's the direction she first wanted to go in. But they pro'lly wanted a more pop sound, hence the overall overproduced/borderline schmaltzy quality of MusicBox. It fits the musical landscape of 93/94 but it's my least favorite album from Mariah, although I love, love, love Dreamlover, Hero (live, piano style is better), AYNAF, NTIK and the European bonustrack Everything Fades Away... which is one of her best songs ever IMO.

Re: Gospelriah song list - Inspirationalriah (67,394) (67,395) by Edouard from France
Mariah has a lot of gospel influenced tracks (Outside, If it's over, ABMBB, etc). Yet, I believe these songs are not necesserly gospel songs. I like the fact that her understanding of gospel is so diverse. I would say her gospel tracks are :
- There's got to be a way
- Make it happen
- ATYNAF
- Oh holy night plus 2000's version
- Jesus, What a Wonderful Child
- God rest ye merry gentlemen
- One sweet day
- I am free
- Butterfly
- Thank God I found you
- Through the rain plus remix
- Fly like a bird
- I wish you well
- 100 percent
- The first Noel
- One child
- O come all ye faithfull
- Heavenly
When you think about it... Vision of love.

It is so good, such a great artist. I love her dedication to music, something she shares with Mariah.

Staying low before it's her show (67,257) by Edouard from France
I think Mariah is enjoying some quite time until the continuation of the Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour in South America. She knows all the media's attention is focused on the elections at the moment. She knows what she's doing so that she can get all the attention needed for the release of Mariah's World in December. Smart choice.

Quote unquote "blue eyed soul" (67,089) by Edouard from France
I find it interesting how Mariah's "The art of letting" was very trying to bring back the "blue eyed soul". Some fans didn't know what to do with the song. I always felt like it was reminiscent of "Stop" by Sam Brown (released in 1989) and that most of us know better from Jamalia's cover (from the Bridget Jones' soundtrack 2004). When you think about it, Selena Gomez released this year "Same old love", Britney Spears has a few blue eyed soul numbers on her latest album, and JoJo's (I love her) new track "Mad Love" is also very blue eyed soul. One again Mariah's ahead of her time.

Re: Infamous would have made more sense (66,980) (67,001) by Edouard from France
Well maybe it just goes to show we should all trust Mariah a little more. She's always known what she's doing. She still does. The song makes sense within the context of Empire. Moreover I believe it's nice to have a song where Mariah sings like a human being (so that all viewers can sing along with her) instead of singing like the queen she is. She's saving those Mariah vocals for the album, for the lambily, for us. Just trust.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,973) (66,977) by Edouard from France
Hi don't worry it doesn't. I think it's not necessarly preservation. [...] gave a lot live so in the studip it can't be a problem for an amazing singer like Mariah. I think she wants to present herself less like a vocal powerhouse and appeal to a younger generation that is not familiar with amazingly gifted vocalist. They really aren't. And no, [...] is not an amazing singer [...] good. [...] Mariah is just exeptionnal. Christina Aguilera is a great singer. I don't like her voice and what she does with it but it's undeniable. Mariah's just more of an artist with her instrument I believe.

Re: Infamous (66,970) (66,976) by Edouard from France
The only difference is that Mariah used the English vocabulary. Ariana used Mariah's vocabulary. When she sings "a little touch my body" it should be spelled as "a little: 'touch my body'". She even sings it the way MC does. Total plagia.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,966) (66,967) by Edouard from France
Hi. I must say that I really don't know what you (and others) are talking about. I don't know if you are a singer, but a singer knows that the way Mariah sings in Infamous requires a lot of control in order to keep this "haunted and deep tone" throughout the song. It's an Empire track. The star is Jussie. Mariah is humble in that way. She has never overpowered any of her peers on a duet/featuring. When you think about it she has never competed with anyone on a track. In Infamous she gave us tone, control, emotions and whistles (so well incorporated in the song that everyone seems to overlook them). This song is "weird" but so interesting in my opinion. It reminds me of One & Only which is one of my favs on TEOM. I actually like the autotuned part in Infamous, though I'm usually not a big fan of autotune. Especially when it's meant to compensate a lack of artistry and vocal technique, which is really not the case here. I think it allows the song to have a rap verse without having another one collaborating on the song. It gives it a cool edge IMHO.

I wonder (66,873) by Edouard from France
There is a solo version of "Infamous". I think there is one because Mariah spent time in the studio recording his vocals with hers already recorded. P.S. I actually like the song because it's different. it's not Mariah being "tada here I am". She did it to compliment the show and I think that it does the job. It's [...] one of the best song the show has ever had. Mission accomplished.

P.S Mariah never looked crazy in that video. She looks [...] and exudes exactly what the songs is about. She's effing hot.

Re: Through The Rain (66,572) (66,573) by Edouard from France
I always thought "Loverboy" was a genius track. [...] both 80's flair and early 2000's (especially the remix). Maybe some of the adlibs in the chorus prevent the chorus from being easy to remember. [...] are a little bit distracting (especially the verse chorus, but then again it wouldn't be "Loverboy" without them. The video is one of Mariah's best [...]. "Through the rain" has helped me a lot in my late teens. It is special. [...] agree about the crescendo thing.

Re: Rainbow Mariah (66,528) (66,536) by Edouard from France
It's interesting to see that Mariah, while she's being touched up towards the end, looks just like Mariah in Vegas today. It's only make up people. Mariah hasn't done anything to her face (nothing extreme). When you look at her instagram in Greece in the restaurant she looks just the same. Natural. No lashes.

Re: Butterfly (66,415) (66,419) by Edouard from France
Butterfly is my favourite song ever, along with Always Be My Baby and Close My Eyes and... Tatally agree with you about the promotion. Yet, for some weird reasons I believe Butterfly is a masterpiece because it didn't extremely well critically, it did well in terms of sales but less than Daydream or Music Box. I believe that the fact that it did very well but not extremely well allowed it to be considered a critical masterpiece. It's still an album of reference. The fact that, even the promotion was a struggle, kinda went with the theme of the album. Mariah was everywhere in 1997/1998. inescapable.

Re: Wow some post here (66,199) (66,201) by Edouard from France
Hey Mirage, love your reply. Thank you for clarifying. So there are still some fans out there. We just don't feel the need to talk nonsense all the time. Some people have no life. Totally agree with you, it's one thing to criticize, it's another to hate and judge. No one owns Mariah but herself. I don't agree with everything she does, how she sometimes present herself. But the thing is that I don't need to evaluate, scrutinize or care so much. I don't need to live vicariously through her. What I keep with me, as a fan, is the music and the teachings that go with it, like self confidence, strengh, self-esteem, respect for others and for yourself, compassion, the right to cry, dream, laugh and be stupid too.

Re: Infinity (66,173) (66,179) by Edouard from France
Hi, I think the sole purpose of this song was to advertise the greatest hits album. The fact that it sounds like 3, 4 songs put together, I think, is because MC wanted a song that would showcase her different styles, vocally. the ballad, the fast paced rap-sing along, etc. I believe it works for what it is meant to be: a nice transition after "Touch My Body", a song that gives a sense of coming fullcircle from Vision Of Love to TMB.

Really make me wonder if I'm still on an MC fan website. I would ask you to spread your negativity elsewhere but I already know what you will say. So I'm not gonna say anything. and I'll stop coming here because frankly I'm bored by your negativity.
