He wants a big first single in the vein of Emotions, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Honey, Heartbreaker, It's Like That etc. with a good strong beat and full vocals and not a pretty, mellow and hushed number, as beautiful as it may be it doesn't make for a good first single at this point for Mariah. Though I'm waiting to be surprised by the full song and I'm sure I'll love it and the whole album as well, as it stands now, it doesn't bode well commercially. That being said even if Mariah were to release We Belong Together or Fantasy now, it probably would not chart well either. (Wednesday 3 October 2018; 11:01)

With You clip (84,202) by Shezz from Pk There's a low quality 20 sec clip of WY floating around. It's got those pretty but whispery vocals again. Sounds like Love Story part 2 (lyrically and musically) - not a banger for sure. Too short to judge but you kind of can see where it's going. Here's hoping for a big catchy chorus to save it. Lil Kim sample etc. (84,110) by Shezz from Pk More news from the listening party: one song samples Lil Kim's "Crush on you" and the listener thinks it is called "Proceed with caution". No word on Drake appearing on "With you" unless they were sworn to secrecy about it. It is certainly not a ballad. Also, not much "whispering" heard other than on GTFO. I'm going to be happy with a good album, a good rollout with some talk show appearances and concept videos even if every single fails to chart. This is a legendary artist way beyond her prime, still doing it because she loves to even though she doesn't sell much any more. Let's support, enjoy and celebrate this era and "the glamour, and the trauma and the ****ing melodrama" to quote Lorde, that it brings with it. (Thursday 27 September 2018; 10:42)

Listening party II (84,042) by Shezz from Pk According to journalist Sabrina Ford at the listening party, she played 5 songs including "GTFO" and "With you". With You is a mellow, "classic Mariah" ( what does that even mean now?) sounding track produced by DJ Mustard, unlike his typical music. "Portraits" was the only ballad she played of the 5, rest were songs you could "bop to", other than GTFO. (Thursday 27 September 2018; 06:40)

Re: AMA confirmation (84,019) (84,024) by Shezz from Pk You of all people need not be convinced that she's lost her vocals largely and has become more and more insecure about it as the years have gone by. She probably freaks out about how she sounds in front of other performers (most industry people still see her as a vocal legend and an inspiration) and a crowd that hasn't really come to see her (which she has mentioned in the past). Though she doesn't sound all that much better in her own concerts you can still see her much more at ease then. With all the positive changes she has made in recent months I don't believe she hasn't tried to make an effort with her voice because she does put it front and center a lot these days. Maybe it's just beyond her control. Let's just appreciate whatever she's still giving us. I do believe she's put her all into this album and wish her the best. Always. But it wasn't a trainwreck or anything of the sort - only the discerning lambs will be unhappy - casual listeners have given her good reviews. I remember her tone and agility had gotten good again during the Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour. She was visibly partying much more then with the Bollocks and the dancers. She seems to be getting her act straight(er) now - wonder why her voice is not improving. She did sound out of breath and looked nervous like she always does in major performances where people haven't come just to hear her. Looked great though and walked unassisted. Silver linings.
