Justice for AIWFCIY (86,565) by jaker20 from US Hey guys the song is rising so fast, faster than ever. It definitely has a strong chance of out-peaking its top 5 peak last year. It's already number 7 on iTunes and it's still November. How did this song, arguably one of Mariah's most iconic, never reach number one? Maybe this year? You all need to start streaming it on Spotify, and hopefully casual listeners will discover Caution in the process. Can you imagine this song hitting number one? Maybe she wrote Portrait for people like you, sorry can't help it. But how are you not able to move on? You don't like most of her output after 1997 cause she's no longer the diva balladeer. That's the same person she wanted to get away from. Its a great era, but that's the past. If anything, she's truer to herself now. This is the first album where she embraces the current state of her voice and she's more urban than ever, somewhere in the middle and just the right combo imo, and career-wise, as somsone who's achieved everything, she has to decide if she will evolve. Besides we don't really know her, everything around her now influence her. She's getting great reviews, and that's great encouragement to someone who already achieved everything to keep going. She produced some great music here. This album proves she can adapt and her best is yet to come. Those not changing their style isn't integrity, its that they're just not capable of doing it. Even if the album doesn't top the charts, the tracks shouldn't go to waste. I hope she does some unexpected ft. collabs. I doubt she can get Sheeran but how about Drake returning the favor? Glitter (85,965) by jaker20 from US Lambs are the most iconic fanbase eva lol. This is so unexpected. I just saw it now and I thought there's an iTunes glitch and I still don't know what's going on lol. And by the way, I love the album. The movie is awful but the album is a classic, lots of great songs, Loverboy is such a classic bop, the vocals are immaculate. So underrated. (Thursday 15 November 2018; 19:20)

The Voice Mariah should have been the Idol Mariah (85,656) by jaker20 from US On The Voice she's nurturing and has so much wisdom and seem genuinely care about the contestants. I really like all the advise she gave. Maybe it's the environment of The Voice. In just two episodes I've seen the real Mariah and I like what I saw, as opposed to a full season of Mariah on Idol which I didn't like so much because it was mostly drama and not a lot of humanity. I really like her banter with Blake Shelton and really know how to work his charms with women. The advise she gave to the contestants were much much much better than the stuff she said on Idol, and she seem genuinely wanting them to succeed and do well. One of the advise she gave completely changed the impact of the song. It seems she give better feedback on the spot. i'm not even gonna address the comment about why she doesn't sing during the advise session, it's just so silly. She was able to communicate exactly what the contestant need to do, singing it actually lessen the impact of the advise. So you want Mariah to sing a line so she can prove she can still sing? Re: Mariah: queen of the redo (84,818) (84,844) by jaker20 from US Because she is insecure. Her art is a reflection of her. She tries to cover up what in her mind are imperfections. It's the same as her stage performance. She stands in the corner because she wants to be perceived as perfect. She lip because she wants her voice to be perceived as flawless. The truth is no one cares about this perfection if she puts on a show. I can handle flawed voice, even partial lipping if it means her putting an effort on the show, walking, connecting with fans, a production that seem like she actually joined choreography, anything. Same with her music. She spends so much time engineering her sound it ends up blah and mechanical, soulless, by-the-numbers. With You is classic Mariah, the structure is the same as 90% of her songs, the lyrics is about 90% of what she already sang. At her age, if she really has nothing to prove then be real and vulnerable. People like that. What happened to her 10 years of motherhood, her travels and experiences, the people she met, the downside of fame and fortune, etc? Does she has nothing new to say? What did she learn in 30 years other than another trials of teenage love? All these Mariah-legend is facade she's riding. I feel her art and creativity ended in Butterfly and TEOM was a fluke. Cute video (84,764) by jaker20 from US Her acting is still cringe and some shots are weird. But it's probably her best video this decade. If her AMA performance was better, this era would have been getting better press and fans wouldn't be as grouchy. By the way the choreo of the AMA performance was fire. She owes Tanaka for making her look not cheap. I wish he can choreo something with her moving. I can forgive the partial lipping if she had at least put an effort learning how to walk, you know like a normal human being. (Thursday 11 October 2018; 22:49)

AMA I like the choreo (84,633) by jaker20 from US That is actually her best dancer choreography probably ever. I wonder who created it. The problem is that she's not even part of it lol. That choreography combined with her ABMB iHeart performance then that would have been a good show. Even though she was lipping most of it I didn't completely hate it. And she looks great by the way. The mind, like the body, also ages, and if you don't flex it you will lose it. And we see how Mariah flexes her body which is never (see her need for assistance to walk about what's going on in the mind). Mariah is trapped in her 90s self, as the saying goes, she's now a caricature of her former self. Unlike you though, I am no longer upset. I was upset 10 years ago when she botched the release of E=MC2 singles. I was upset after the cheap promo of Memoirs, the album cover says a lot. Then on Idol during the release of Beautiful, it confirmed to me that she can't shred her own image, she is trapped. So my frustration has become apathy. I know from here on out, the type of songs she'll make are throwbacks, classic Mariah as lambs call it. What we are getting now are beats and lyrics she fantasized in the 90s. She didn't mature or got smarter. This is not the kind of career a music legend deserves. Look at Madonna's creative output for example. Her 2005 Confessions album was vastly mature in lyrics and style, but it's still her and that is 25 year career gap from her debut. Look at Cher. Her 1999 Believe album is so different yet the spirit of 60s Cher is all over it. That's a 35 year career gap. Yet for the past 10 years, Mariah is just playing to her strength, singing karaoke to her own songs, and not willing to take creative risks or new ideas other artists. Personally, that Unforgettable French Montana remix is kind of output, 15 years ago, I expected her doing now. Alas, she's not even credited there. Who knows maybe when she turns 50 she'll get a creative boost. Right now, I'll just accept her limitations, hoping one of her songs gets picked up for power rotation by a station or get viral exposure or something, which in itself is a sad fall from grace. With You, cute but dated (84,333) by jaker20 from US I was hoping for a bop but I kind of like the song. I don't know if the public outside of lambs will be here for it. Mariah is either afraid or not capable of creating new beats anymore. Her last real experimental is Butterfly, and after that she went back to her comfort zone. Mariah however came out with a bang and burned out creatively in her 40s. Cher's career was a real sprint and came out with spectacular shows in her 60s and just last year at 71 at the Grammys. So it's possible. She needs to leave behind that diva big vocals career, and focus on her songwriting and production-based performances. Otherwise, she's better off dropping the album and I bet it will be a hit based on her name alone. It may not be a massive hit but at least not an embarrassment. It's the same as her video. AMA and lack of effort in performing (84,016) by jaker20 from US It's only a good promo if she can really perform. Otherwise, it actually hurts whatever she is promoting. Why can't she do something similar to that It's Like That at VH1? It was not dependent on her vocals but people don't mind. Because they had fun. It was about putting on a show and a good production that seem like she actually prepared for it. Not just stand on a corner and lip notes we all know she can't reach. In fact, that is probably the only path that will give her a true comeback. The voice is not the same, give it up already. She will always be forever considered one of the greatest vocals ever. But she didn't become Mariah just because of that. What sets her apart from other singing divas is her songwriting and her ability to tap into pop sentiments. And that's what she needs to focus now. Attempting to sing like her past self just betrays the legacy of those songs. She, and her fans, need to refocus and that is taking the singer/songwriter route or maybe even club or dance music where she won't rely heavily on her voice. But her fans are just as hard-headed as her so she's kinda stuck. (Monday 24 September 2018; 20:43)

But did you notice, as soon as the video was released, the song dropped faster. She has trouble crossing over and she can't rely on her fans alone. It's the same pattern for every single she released this decade. The most obvious example is Beautiful, which rose on the strength of her name and because it actually was a good song. But as soon as that overhyped video was released on Idol, the song dropped. She has an image problem. In fact I would say she has this problem immediately after TEOM, and that's why her decline to E=MC2 was sharp. Love Mimi but she will no longer cross over because she is looking very cheap with bikini and lingerie videos that doesn't help the song. At all. (Monday 24 September 2018; 20:32)

She needs lighter bouncier bops (83,984) by jaker20 from US That she can sing live and walk around the stage. Or something like ABMBaby that is easier to sing. Her catalog is hard to sing and will shut her voice completely if she go this rate. Maybe even bouncier dance tracks that requires some production to cover some of the lipping and make people focus on the production and not just her voice. Or like half and half My All remix she used to do. She has to be smart in her new era or else her career will end sooner than it should. She already has a solid big vocals catalog, now she needs to focus on the production. (Monday 24 September 2018; 20:18)

It's a decent performance that can be improved (83,967) by jaker20 from US Performance isn't always about great vocals. A few things that lift it above typical Mariah. One is she actually didn't lip that much. She did, but less so than previous ones. That intro of Emotions was kind of rough but she tried and that's what matters most. We all know she added that song just to remind us who owns that song. Second, she actually moved more than usual. This is the part that she needs to put more effort cause the audience come alive during ABMB when she moved around. She should have brought her quirky one liners and playfulness that we see during her shows. But she's very insecure that night, she doesn't want to interact much. Still an improvement from past where she just stands and doesn't even talk. Third, the vocals are surprisingly better. She is more rested. Her timings are good. She knew when she's gonna hit it or not and learned to adjust. Look, how many times do you need to be told that her voice has changed? You just need to get used to it because frankly we've seen worse. (Sunday 23 September 2018; 18:08)

It was good, an improvement actually (83,946) by jaker20 from US I liked it overall. It actually got more interesting when she got close to the audience during ABMB. She needs to do that more. She just needs to more around the stage more. It's not always about the perfect vocals, but how she engages with the audience and she accomplished that with ABMB. The rest needed more production.
