About Musti from UK:

Hero (38,589) by Musti from UK
That was truly beautiful. The smoothness in her voice made me feel so at home. Her whispery falsettos here are to die for. And what about that strong vibrato as she sings "you'll find the way"? Wow. I don't even like Hero and she made me fall in love with the song after all these years. Perfection.

I agree that as fans we need to calm down. None of us are strangers to Mariah's lipping habits. In a sense I think it's a little unfair to compare Mariah's voice to other singers'. Here is a woman who is naturally alto/borderline mezzo sorprano but has an unparallelled extension into the whistle register. We can't even hope to understand how that works and how it evolves over the years. One thing I do believe is that her voice is very fragile. I'm honestly content with her lipping for the rest of her life if it means her voice will be preseved for many more albums to come. The downside is that after the BET performance people now seriously doubt the legitimacy of her voice. Barbra was known to have stage fright and didn't perform live too often, but when she did it was always live. Her voice has never been questioned. I just hope this debacle doesn't jeopardize Mariah's legendary status. I can't wait for the new allbum.

Live (38,522) by Musti from UK
I can't sit here and pretend to know exactly why she's been lipping a lot. But here is a theory. Maybe her problem is maintaining vocal consistency throughout a song. I remember back when TEOM was released, JD had said that We Belong Together was so last minute that Mariah recorded it only in 1 take. I don't think that has happened since WBT. I believe her albums versions are a compound of different segments from different takes. I think that's exactly the case with #Beautiful Jeezy Remix and the BET prerecorded version. It feels like every breath she takes has been copied and pasted into the song to make one whole. That is not to say she can't sing a full song in one go, but that it simply wouldn't be vocally/musically consistent. However it also means that the end results are songs that are beyond her ability to perform live. Especially since E=MC2 and particularly when performing at awards shows, she got into the habit of half singing half lipping to try to maintain this consistency but as we all know she is a terrible lipper. She's better at concerts because she goofs around and doesn't really fully sing any song. But resorting to full lipping at BET after a couple of performances where she's been accused of lipping was probably the worst decision she has made in years. Every live performance since the AI medley has come under attack. She should've come back with a full live performance with whatever she's got.

BET 2013 (38,504) by Musti from UK
Ok that was embarrassing. She mimed the whole thing. She only used to do that on European shows. Everyone knows her voice is not the same as before; it's not supposed to be. But this? I understand if she doesn't want to admit that she can't sing like she used to, the whole world already tears her to pieces as it is. But no, I was just getting used to her half live/half lipped routine, I can't ever get used to 100% lipping. As someone has already said, she's not even good at lipping. She never has been.

Remixes (38,466) by Musti from UK
Lambs, am I the only one who thinks that these remixes aren't all that bad? Sure we're all sick of Mariah sticking an unknown rapper to a song and calling it a remix, and A$AP Rocky's lines are a little inappropriate for the song imo. But it's not her worst remix. And let's not forget that the sales of a remix will only help a song's position on Billboard if it's not materially different from the original. Perhaps that's why the A$AP mix is the only one to be released to iTunes? What is so terribly wrong with the woman wanting to extend her chart statistics? So what if we miss out on a few resung remixes. The Spanglish version is such a charm, she sounds so sublime in Spanish, even if the production on the song isn't all that good. And I'm really feeling the Louie Vega Remix. I geniunely believe that the main reason behind delaying the album was to give Beautiful a chance to crack the Top 10 before they release a second single. But even if that's not the reason, albums always get pushed back and just because she is Mariah and hasnt released a studio albums in 4 years does not make her the exception. I think the delay agitated a lot of fans, hence the unprecedented negative fan reaction to all 3 remixes so far. But I'm still on the Mariah bandwagon, and a delayed album and a few unworthy remixes won't make me jump. Beautiful has such a new sound and I'm still very excited about the album.

#MC723 no more (38,368) by Musti from UK
I can't say I'm not a little sad about the pushback. But I'm not disappointed, in fact I think it might be a good move to delay. The remix of #Beautiful hasn't come out yet, and I think she would want to release a second single before the album drops. July 23rd would have pushed that a little. Perhaps they're trying to give #Beautiful a fair shot at becoming top 10 (top 5 even) with the release of the remix. The delay should give them ample time to release a second single.

Favourite lead single (38,348) by Musti from UK
If we're referring to album versions here, then my fave is Honey. However my all-time fave Mariah uptempo is Heartbreaker (DJ Clue Remix). I still remember listening to it when it first came out in 1999 with my crappy dial-up connection. It was like having my own musical awakening lol. I still can't describe what it is that song does to me.

Album title (38,280) by Musti from UK
Honestly, I don't really like it. It sounds a little cheesy to me, and I've grown not to expect that from Mariah - Music Box, TEOM, #1's (if I'm not wrong, she was the first to start the #1's album trend), etc. It still hasn't been confirmed by Mariah's camp but it's very likely that AOLG will be the album's title. But again honestly, I couldn't care less what the title is. I'm so hungry for new material that I'm already sure this album will be my favourite since Butterfly.

I'm so excited about the album. 723 being her birthday backwards, this is a special release day indeed. I guess we'll be seeing a lot of MC everywhere in the next few months.

Best ballad (38,121) by Musti from UK
Impossible to pick, but Fly Like A Bird would probably take my trophy. It never grows old and lifts up my mood everytime. Such a charm.

New album (38,055) by Musti from UK
I just noticed that the new album will be Mariah's first summer release since Music Box, which was released on 31 August 1993. TEOM and E=MC2 were released in April, and Butterfly, Glitter and Memoirs in September, but no actual summer release in 20 years. I hope it doesn't get pushed back. Beautiful is a great summer track. I'm already curious about the next single. She might just rock summer 2013.

#Beautiful (38,039) by Musti from UK
Hey lambs. I haven't read all the comments post-GMA performance. I just wanted to say that my heart broke when I heard the end of #Beautiful on GMA as I knew Mariah would be shredded to pieces by the media regarding her voice. We all know by now that this woman sings best at night/very early morning (5am in particular lol). It's just sad to see that the song dropped to #20 on iTunes today and has had the smallest daily increase in airplay yesterday since its release. I agree with PJW that most of Mariah's live performances have been plagued with "drama" since the DFAU performance at the AMAs. I don't know what can be done to better her live performances, but it is clearly affecting her commercial performance. Of course I don't think chart success is everything, but #Beautiful was doing great and had a lot of potential. I will love Mariah, even if her voice is reduced to half an octave. As the great La Divina, Maria Callas, had once said "You stay an artist, dear, even if your voice is less of a fireworks. The artist is always there." But I still want my #19 and #20.

#Beautiful (37,826) by Musti from UK
The song is not at all what I expected it would be, but I love it. I think it's a very fresh direction for her. I love a classic Mariah moment, but I must say I was getting tired of her repetitive pattern with JD since TEOM. I think the song has surprised a lot of people and it is creating the desired hype for her new album. US radio really seems to be picking up the song. I just wish downloads were stronger. Hopefully with a little bit more promotion.
