About Edward from USA:

Remixes (102,322) by Edward from USA
Mariah is definitely the queen of great remixes, as in her maxi singles were like mini albums. My speakers suffered a stroke since I blasted the Honey and Heartbreaker maxi singles so much, it had to be put on life support. Many of her remixes were far superior than the original. She was definitely a tour de force.

Remixes (102,320) by Edward from USA
BB still counts remixes, but if they are structurally different from the original song then they're considered as two different songs. If Jennifer's I'm Real (Murder Remix) and Mariah's Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix) were released today, they wouldn't be considered as remixes for BB purposes, so their airplay, streams and sales wouldn't be combined with the airplay, streams and sales of the original songs. In other words, if you can't recognize the original song in the remix, then they two different songs. #Beautiful and #Beautiful (Jeezy Remix) had combined airplay, streams and sales. While Jesse's rap was added, the lyrics and music didn't go far from the original. Same with Big Energy, but since the original was more popular, Mariah wasn't credited.

Die For You (102,314) by Edward from USA
What BB did was to be expected and not only affected Mariah. A remix shouldn't be a completely different song. Nobody at BB is sabotaging her. Mariah scored her 19th #1 hit when they changed the rule that allow recurrent holiday songs to chart again. She's now sitting pretty with 12 weeks at the top and counting with a nearly 30-year old song.

"Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix)" is far superior than the album version, but it's a completely different song. Same for Jennifer's "I'm Real (Murder Remix)" which was the song that prompted the rule change. Many were boosting mediocre songs by combining their airplay/sales with that of their respective remixes. That wasn't fair for those artists who didn't have the muscle or budget behind them to do the same.

At this point I think we need to stop with the paranoia and conspiracy theories. How bigger of an artist could Mariah be? Many would dream of having a tenth of her success.

The real reason for no respect (102,294) by Edward from USA
Mariah was a natural born singer. Before she could even write anything, she was already correcting or emulating her mother, sometimes even leaving her speechless. She developed into a great lyricist, but she loved being showy like the rest of them when the opportunity presented itself. She was nervous during that performance you mentioned, but she was also very young and basically thrown into this gargantuan fame that could've swallowed anyone alive easily. Mariah was showy countless times on Arsenio Hall while singing Emotions, Vanishing, Vision of Love. She gave the best rendition of Vision of Love on Good Morning America, impeccable, surreal. About her nuances, well, that's what really put her in a league of her own, she wasn't just a singer that could blow, but a singer that could paint beautiful songs with her voice and artistry, what she sung came from her soul rather than somebody else's. I've always loved Whitney, her powerful vocals were unmatched, but Mariah's voice spoke to my soul and the souls of millions of people. When her instrument was in its prime, it was untouchable. I can't imagine Whitney, Chaka or Patti singing "Music Box", "Underneath The Stars", "Melt Away", "Fourth of July", no because they couldn't, but because their artistry wasn't at that level. When Mariah started losing her voice, she's started pushing her writing abilities to the front, it was evident she knew what was happening to her. It is sad, but in my humble opinion, the quality of her voice has always been directly proportional to the quality of her lyrics. When she was in her prime vocally, her lyrics were more poetic, balanced, beautiful, mature, but as the voice started deteriorating, her pen game also changed for the worse.

Hype for new album (102,269) by Edward from USA
She should concentrate on putting good music out. At this point she won't be selling a lot, but new music would give her some relevancy. Marian [sic] used to have a veil of mystery, so I appreciate her being quiet and let the music do the talking. Every time she hypes something up, it ends up being a disappointment.

"It's a Wrap" on the Hot 100 (102,254) by Edward from USA
Things don't work like that anymore. People stream more than listen to the radio. If it gets enough momentum on the main streaming platforms, radio would pick it up eventually. Some stations have started playing it.

Rarities (102,228) by Edward from USA
From 2014 to 2018? No, thank you. More 1990's and 2000's is needed. With a sprinkle of 2010's of course.

Super Bowl (102,223) by Edward from USA
I think Rihanna should've waited for the next Super Bowl. The halftime performance was visually stunning, but the energy wasn't there. If Mariah could walk unaided and with her 90's voice, she could've definitely pulled this off better than Rihanna. When Mariah was in control of her voice, she exuded confidence and put it all out there. I could see a Madison Square Garden Daydream Mariah pulling this off, but right now, she shouldn't even entertain the idea. She would probably get to the Halftime late anyway.

New picture (102,168) by Edward from USA
I have heard from some older people that when you get to be a certain age you just stop caring much about certain things. Mariah is not the only woman over 50 who's weight fluctuates, but I don't think it has to do with anything in particular. I know many people in their 60's who are in very good shape and who are dealing with a lot of ailments, but they're disciplined and serious about their health. Mariah, unlike most people, has an arsenal of resources at her disposal to offset any side effects from medications, she probably has a personal chef who can cook anything healthy for her, and also has access to workout privately with a personal trainer too. I think Mariah gets in shape when she wants to get in shape, period. I don't think she's a damsel in distress waiting for the next treadmill to be available so that she can get on ultrasonic high heels with a splash in hand just in case she needs hydration.

Memoirs is underrated (102,125) by Edward from USA
Fans didn't pay dust to "The Rarities", her remaining fans supported it. It made it to be #30 on the Billboard Hot 200. The old music was great, but out of the three bonus tracks, only "Lullaby of Birdland" was worthy of being on there. She could've cooked three killer jams for the occasion. The difference in quality between the old and the new material was palpable overall. I actually think it was a missed opportunity for a couple of great collaborations. I replaced "Save the Day" and " Close My Eyes" with "Right to Dream" and " Help Me Make It" respectively.

Memoirs is underrated (102,108) by Edward from USA
"The Dream" was definitely hot back then, but there a variety of hot producers back then too. I don't think Memoirs is a bad album, there are many songs I do like, and there are some great lyrics on it too, actually her last decent cover is on it, but that's one thing. I refer to the variety in sound. Different from E=MC2, it is kind of boring to me, that's all. There was supposed to be project with the remixes for it, and it was shelved too.

Memoirs is underrated (102,106) by Edward from USA
Actually, the reason Memoirs didn't work it was because of the "The Dream", as in the album having kind of a repetitive sound. I do think she should've used him for four or five tracks and get the rest produced by some other people. You can basically hear "The Dream" in each track. I do like the track Mariah recorded for his album called "My Love", I rarely see it mentioned here.

Caution (102,096) by Edward from USA
I was listening to Caution yesterday and I couldn't believe it's been almost five years since its release. One would think Mariah recorded a lot during the pandemic, so there should be enough material to at least release a solid EP. I do miss "The Voice". Sometimes I'm not sure if Marian wants to sing anymore. Most of her one-song projects in the past ten years have been lackluster, half-cooked. Her songs used to have legs of their own, but for a while now those legs are based on a hype that renders them crippled when you get to listen to them. Most cuts that didn't make it into her albums in the 90's are simply great. I'm not talking about her voice, but the artistry in her music. Butterfly was sung in her whisper register, but oh boy, those lyrics, the sentiment, the music, it didn't need an introduction. It's as if she were done with music but she's thrown into the spot light for a whole month every year and she has to act on it for financial reasons. I hopefully we get some quality music this year. Something different.

Primary custody (102,089) by Edward from USA
I agree. He's always known Mariah would be a great mother. There's also a connection between them in spite of their separation.

Never Forget You (102,078) by Edward from USA
You're joking, right? At this point it's not only about the key, but about the fact that her fluidity and buttery tone are basically gone. She could try, but it would turn into another one of choppy her versions of "Hero", but the 2023 version.

I think this is the time for her start training her voice again, there are many great vocal coaches out there that would get her voice in decent shape, but that would take work. It's like going to the gym, you don't shed those extra pounds or put on some muscle if you don't move your ass.

Butterfly (102,076) by Edward from USA
Buttefly is pure poetry at its best. Sadly Mariah departed from that type of writing a long time ago. That was actually when she would her lyrics by herself. I hope she finds the confidence to write her own stuff without the need of a posse.

Primary custody (102,069) by Edward from USA
Not only that, Roc and Roe don't act like these typical celebrity kids. Mariah and Nick have done a great job raising them so far. Love alone is not enough to hold a couple together. Nick and Marian are definitely better as friends. Nick can't keep in his pants while Mariah still can count with less than 3 fingers the guys she's slept with lol.

That article doesn't make sense to me. Mariah already has primary custody. They have co-parented well so far. With 10 other kids and working all the time, I don't think he has time for any of them.

Melissa Ruderman and Nicki Minaj (102,052) by Edward from USA
Sometimes you guys act as if you were in middle school. One thing doesn't have anything to do with the other. As long as the job is well executed, there shouldn't be any problem. And why is it that nobody ever talks about this when it comes to men, it's always pitting women against women, it's kind of getting tired at this point. The new whatever always happens to be a woman. I've never heard about the New Michael Jackson, The New Eminem, The New Jay Z. It's like when it was a theme for people in the Hip Hop scene to kill one another, so many great artist were taken out due to ridiculous territorial shit. It's good we've moved past that, or so it seems.

Craving MC (102,048) by Edward from USA
Mariah should drop "The Rarities 2" first and then whatever she was working on with the Clark Sisters. I'm craving some old non-released in her prime music. Mariah needs a duet with somebody current and famous. I do still think Mariah and Ariana could have a hit together, but it has to be a great song, not something half-cooked.

Rolling Stone's 200 Greatest Singers (102,010) by Edward from USA
You know it's a travesty when they included Rihanna and leave Celine out. Linda Ronstadt and Barbra Streisand should be in the top 20. Going by their own rules, Celine should be in the top 10.
