Your argument is almost completely baseless. To justify one wrong by pointing out another wrong happening in some other realm is quite silly. Dubbing is lip syncing in reverse - you are not moving your mouth to the words, you are moving the words to your mouth. It is, inarguably, a lie. Were I to go to the theatre tonight to see a play, I could expect live acting with live words coming out of the players' mouths. I would have experienced genuine artistry and talent designed to move me in some way. You ought to be able to expect that from a musical performance. Equally when you purchase a recording of said performance, you really ought to be able to expect that what was performed is exactly what you purchased. I know that things are not this way, and so be it. But, Lordy me, don't justify it as being okay. It is a lie. Just an industry wide one. When I first realised that Mariah has dubbed performances I was pretty thrown, rather heartbroken. And, again, so be it. But let us be honest about the untruths here. For example, putting a "live" performance on MCIIY which is not actually a live performance is offends anyone with an intellect. The problem with Mariah's career in the face of internet downloading and the boom of social media is that she is being examined intensely. And, frankly, being caught out. A lot.

Groups should not be judged by the actions of a few a**holes. But equally groups should not claim to be collectively victim when an a**hole treats one or a few of their members badly. Hypocrisy is not part of intelligent discourse and just makes people put their fingers in their ears. I do agree Mariah needs to release an album. 4 years is a bizarrely long time in Mariah's world. There's so little left to talk about, even the lambs are possibly giving up.

I watched the undubbed Hero ft. LP and I agree. There's actually so little difference you have to question if it was worth dubbing it. That performance of Hero is somewhat moving - even Mariah's part has some certain other quality to it I can't quite put my finger on.

Talking of moving on from tired topics and hypocrisy, how many times are you going to say you think Mariah should work with The Weeknd, Miguel, Bruno Mars, Happy Perez, the Smeezingtons, et al.? Why not develop the topic and debate whether these people would actually work with her.

Can't listen to that. If you tell me the Pavarotti performance was dubbed I could not cope with it. As I said, this has always been a downward spiral. But is it broaching absolute truth that almost every performance is a lie? Surely not. Home for the Holidays better be real or I will be seriously pissed off. But, as my friend pointed out to me today, if it was a toss up between being honest and upfront and quite wealthy or being deceitful and mega wealthy, most of us would opt for the latter.

Bill the smoke and mirrors is the problem of the century. Mariah was so desperate to sound perfect that she created the illusion she was flawless. When her voice got worn she needed to keep up the pretence resorting to more and more desperare measures. I gotta empathise with her a bit because to be known for greatness then to feel that greatness leaving you outwith your control must be really heartbreaking. But people don't want studio engineered vocals lipped on stage, they really just want to hear her sing what she can because she has that special unique tone. I wonder: who are the smoke and mirrors for? They're not for us; we don't want them. It must be for her. When the album title The Art of Letting Go was revealed, I really wondered if it meant she was acceoting of certain realities. I think it would have gone down as the bravest move and be heralded as one of the greatest moment in musical history. Sad that it turned out to be about kitchen windows. Oh well.

That sounds a lot like the "bullying" you claim to despise lol brilliant. Another hypocrithere are far more worthy opponents on here (and who keep the conversation flowing even in periods of Mariah-droughts and don't just pop up to criticise those that do). I'm bored of you now. Back to Mariah.

Make as many as you like haha. I assume that you assume that I am gay and would be offended. But doing so would show that you are a hypocrite. You seem to miss the point a lot so you are wise to avoid debating me. "Blondie"? Since we are labelling hair colour as a perjorative is my response to be "blackie"? Much love.

I think I've posted 2 things about gay people that are relevant: 1) the suggestion that Mariah should avoid performing in a country where the mainstream culture advocates and frequently enacts violence towards gay people (such as Jamaica - maybe she should take her GLAAD award on stage and make a speech there about tolerance?) and 2) highlighting the hypocrisy of people who scream about bigotry and don't seem to pass their own liberal tests when their rules are applied to their own posts (as in quoting Sheila). I hardly think anybody would call me a Social Justice Warrior. But if you want a press release, I think gays have it the worst around the world. They have full equal rights in the UK but in most other countries they do not and are treated appalingly. Even by other minority groups who protest under a banner of victimhood and mistreatment and proceed to then victimise and mistreat others. So "Gay Lives Matter" would be a cause I think Mariah should start. She'd earn her GLAAD award at least.

Quod erat demonstrandum? Hah. Lookup "irony" next? Or even "banter". So the next time Mariah does a mocking British RP or Cockney accent should she be castigated for racial discrimination if discrimination is simply making a distinction now rather than treating less favourably, and seemingly not mattering if the distinction was intended to be funny or dry-humoured? Go water your high horse before it wakes up GG. Sometimes I don't know how some people get out of bed in the morning, let alone make it through the day. Your world must be so bland. I made a joke to Reuben about it being quiet up on Walton Mountain and he apparently saw the humour in it. But Social Justice requires you to tell him to be offended and try to force apologies from people. You won't get one from me. Go back to bed. It's safer there.

However, there may be something not quite clear about this. Mariah couldn't sell half of 4000 or was 4000 the half of 8000 she sold? Irrispective: any arena of 4000 or 8000 people is a ridiculously small affair. People won't pay attention (it will be interesting to watch the Hotel concert in Au.). Conversely, a 50000 crowd must require a field and is a significantly bigger affair. It's an event. It's like British people joining a queue/line. The joke is that we often do it simply because it exists. The bigger the affair the bigger the attention. And, further, Mariah doesn't advertise save for a few photoshopped images randomly placed. You'd be hard placed to find a lazier artist than Mariah.

The Norwegian poster was making an important point based in fact. You, on the other hand, just talked total rubbish (nicht seht Deutsch von dir). I dislike Eminem now for many reasons but there is a truth that he still sells incredibly well and it's hard to fathom him not having appeal in the future. MC's last release was 4 years ago and a tired rerun of her dated hits. Am I the only one of a seemingly very few that can love Mariah and her music whilst being honest about it? What's wrong with the truth? Lies are the fat of the land. Brutal honesty gets lambasted here but it is the very basis of enlightenment, for seeing the world as it really is. Would everyone please just drop the bullshit. For your own sake?

Re: If we take our blinders off for a minute (80,870) (80,879)

Your argument is well constructed but rather misleading. Whilst a distinction between musical quotation and plagiarism is noteworthy, to even the untrained ear the Emotions singles and TGIFY sound so akin to carbon copies that "lifted" may be a suitable term. Whereas my intention is not to suggest Mariah a plagiarist, it would be much easier to not do so had she not paid people large sums to specifically state she had not acted dishonestly. Appropriation becomes misappropriation when dishonest - or theft. She didn't credit the plaintiffs. Given the absurd similarities, it is hard to believe that no dishonesty was involved. The truth may never be found so it is what it is. Hero is particularly confusing. The guy can obviously create a trail to whereby Mariah would have had access to the lyrics he alledges he wrote. But if he self-copyrighted and posted them to himself, why not just let a judge open the envelope? That Mariah's notebook shows the song written after the release of the movie for which she claimed it was is bizarre. Regardless, it's probably best not to try to justify Mariah's position and just accept that it is what it is and hope that no dishonesty was involved.

In Mariah's plagiarism cases it is hard to not side with the plaintiffs after listening to the tracks to which the comparisons are being made. TGIFY is way too similar to Just One Of Those Love Songs that it almost sounds like the same track. "I hear melodies in my head and people write them down for me" doesn't wash if what you're hearing in your head is something that you actually heard on the radio. But the whole Emotions project is marred by accusations of plagiarism, all three singles do actually sound almost like carbon copies of other songs. It did make me wonder if Mariah got desperate to follow up the debut album and not drop off as a one album wonder. One would hope that any wrongdoing was unintentional, but in terms of Emotions, for example, White said: "Sampling is one thing, but she lifted the whole song" and, well, he won the argument.

Basically, as I previously stated, Mariah is lazy. Someone slowly moving around a stage with her arm being held by a man to steady her, blinking incessantly with a crazy fixed grin, pretending to sing and occasionally shouting "EH" does not a spectacle make.
