About Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada: Proud lamb since "Vision Of Love" 1990

Re: Top 3 favorite rap collabos (59,859) (59,879) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
1. My All/Stay Awhile. Everything about this track is brilliant IMO.
2. The Roof (Full Crew Club Mix). Lost track of how many times I have played it, sometimes I just let it repeat, it's so sensually moody and I love it so much.
3. As much as I adore "Fantasy" with O.D.B and Heartbreaker with Jay Z, I am torn between Underneath The Stars (Drifting Remix) and I Still Believe/Pure Imagination for third lol.

Re: Rihanna - Mariah (59,871) (59,872) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Yeah, I know what you mean, completely. I understand you meant the GP. But, by the same token, there's no way to control how the industry changes, or the way things will play out, so might as well not invest effort in worrying about it. People who want to, will always find a way to diminish Mariah's success. I guess for me, it becomes about how much validity people are willing to give to that way of thinking.

Re: Rihanna - Mariah (59,856) (59,870) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I totally get where you are coming from Mimi L. I understand your concern. We all love MC, but the headlines will be on her like white on rice no matter what she does. A record being broken by someone else is no exception to this. Whatever happens, happens, you know what I mean? It will play out regardless. There are always going to be people who make success more about numbers and titles. For some, that's what success means. It's not to me. I haven't followed Mariah since 1990 because of her 18 #1's or because she's promoted as the "Best Selling Female artist of all time". The titles are nice, but they aren't why I'll be here "til the end of time". Lol it's Mariah, the way her songs touch me, it's everything she's journeyed through, still managing to keep a smile on her face, it's her playfulness and sensitivity, it's her willingness to try things even when the public tears her apart for it, it's her choice to still be out there even despite every project or tour not reaching the coveted #1 spot etc. Just my 02 cents.

Re: Rihanna (59,843) (59,845) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I totally get what you are saying. For me, even if Rihanna broke a record it wouldn't change anything Mariah has accomplished. Namely because things have changed so much in the industry it's like how can you even make a comparison between Mariah's journey and hers? I don't mean it as a dig in any way either. I don't mind a few of her songs, but I'm not a "fan". I just mean things are so different right now, even the way "Work" is charting.

She's singing live more than she gets credit for IMO. This snippet is beautiful. People are always doing the best they can at any moment. Even when the best they can is critiqued as crap. Lol.

Re: In Rainbow's defense (59,783) (59,785) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Yeah, I actually really love Rainbow. There are a couple tracks that aren't my absolute fave ever done by MC, but it is an intricate piece that I truly enjoy upon every listen. From Petals to Against All Odds. I know a lot of fans prefer the Heartbreaker remix (not that I don't like it lol), but I actually absolutely love the original with Jay-Z because it's so playful and because of the epic video with Bianca.

Re: Happy Valentine's Day (59,772) (59,784) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I hope everyone had an amazing Valentines Day. It's not all about whether in a relationship or not. I'd personally love a Vegas DVD, regardless. I'd so love for the label to get behind that.

Re: Mariah and George M duet and '96-'97 in music (59,735) (59,743) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I adore Mariah and am a big fan of George's catalog. What a voice. He and MC singing together would be a such a treat. I would absolutely love it. One can never rule it out completely, especially since she recorded OMT. Older is a fantastic album too, the photography of the video singles is beautiful.

I think this is a really lovely performance. I'm surprised there aren't more comments about it. Thanks for positing the link. I love the way she improvised here.

Mariah and working with people (59,694) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Personally, I don't think Mariah "needs" to work with JD again. Frankly I'm open to completely new collabs that have never been done. Not that I don't enjoy what their partnership has produced, but imo there's no "problem" with letting it go and creating something new. I also think relationships aren't perfect and go through ups and downs like most things do. I don't think MC would bother making tweet references (though, I know for some it was taken as shade, but I also think it's really easy to read into stuff posted on social media) or that JD would speak as candidly if there wasn't still a friendship there. Not saying I agree with everything JD has ever said or done either, because I don't. I just don't feel relationships are not cut and dry. JMO of course, for whatever its worth.

Re: Jermaine (59,619) (59,628) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Wow. I listened to the podcast interview and to me JD didn't say anything remotely equating to her career being over, or that she couldn't achieve another "hit" again. In fact, he seemed very open and willing to working on music with her. (The part about Mariah calling like getting on a bike, if she wants to go in the studio and work, he's like "let's go".) To me, the interviewers wanted him to comment on the drama in the media around Mariah's voice and he wouldn't. He kept saying "I didn't hear about that, I don't know about it" as if to say, "I'm not going to talk smack so don't ask me to." He very clearly stated Mariah has never gone anywhere, so whenever people talk about a comeback with her it doesn't make sense to him. He said he wasn't expecting WBT to be as big as it was, and that he didn't listen to people when he said her career was over at that time and he doesn't listen to or know what people are saying about her voice now. I think that the generalization he made about artists who have been around a long time being "like your first hit of a drug that you can never get the same hit off of" is more referencing the general public and their expectations on artists who are deemed "legends". To me he's not saying Mariah "can't" have a hit again just that it can be harder when you have been around 25+ years. He said she doesn't need to keep touring at this point of her career, but she does anyway. That to me was a nod to her as a legend. That's why when they brought up the 18 Beacon shows he said "Who does that?" Anyway, I really think his comments about Mariah were complimentary and positive rather than writing her off as some has been whose career is over or something like that. He just wasn't willing to predict the future. He said now that Mariah has two children, her life is in a different place than it was at the start of her career. That to me is true. As a fan I don't respect MC any less. She's not the working machine she was for the first decade, but then I don't think expecting that of her is realistic, either.

I'd love a club track. Her work with people like David Morales always leaves me astonished. Something summery feeling to crank in the car while the sun is shining would be absolutely awesome to me. Lol.

It makes me laugh actually. She's wearing the ring, not shoving it in peoples faces. The media puts it own spin on everything.

Re: Brenda at it again (59,401) (59,412) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I really didn't take her crying as resentment toward Mariah. Maybe it's just me? It felt it's more what she eluded to herself during the interview, and her dreams being played out vicariously through her daughter. I didn't take it as her blaming Mariah for the fact that her career didn't exactly pan out the way she'd once hoped, but yeah, she does miss singing the way she did before. She's right in a way, at the level of celebrity, Mariah has reached, maintaining the relationship they had before Mariah got signed doesn't come without all the trappings of fame.

Re: Tennessee (59,291) (59,304) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Well, the thing is for those that put forth the "mocking" energy you are speaking of, it really doesn't matter what she's doing, for those who want to mock her, they'll find a reason. Read any media coverage on Mariah's lifestyle, the way she dresses, her performances, how much money she makes and you'll find it. Hallmark has a way smaller draw and audience, so those that watch will likely already be fans or supporters, or those looking to take a swipe in her direction. Everything I came across for "A Christmas Melody" pretty much understood what the film was and took it that way, which to me is not a bad thing. For me, the Glitter era to this day is overblown, because of what was going on in her personal life and how the media ran with the coverage of some of her appearances. Could the movie be better? Absolutely. Everything can in retrospect. Now, I think even Mariah is too hard on the project with how much she says she hates it. You aren't always going to bat 1000. It's far from the worst movie ever made, contrary to how the media makes it sound. And the soundtrack album is amazing in my humble opinion at least. I actually think it's rather grounding for her to try smaller scoped things that don't reach huge massive audiences. You have to be able to learn and try things. There's not typically a lot of cross-over for singers and film. If she really felt Hallmark would be another "Glitter" I really don't think she would do it. But, at the same time, I think she's also quite aware that there's always going to be people that don't like her choices, and she's still got to live her life for her.

Re: Tennessee (59,284) (59,285) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I want to make very clear I'm not passing judgement on your post whatsoever. I respect your point of view I simply see it a bit differently. It's amusing to me that "A Christmas Melody" would even get compared to "Tennessee" or a Lee Daniels project. ACM is not trying to be anything more then a simple children's film for the holidays within the confines of the Hallmark Channel genre. Mariah knows the mood of the work she did in Precious and Tennessee is very different. I don't think her choice to work with Hallmark is as serious as it is sometimes made out to be. People try new things, experiment, and move on to the next thing. She will move on from Hallmark. Sure, yeah some may say doing three more projects for Hallmark is a "bad move". We'll see what comes to fruition. I can kinda see the attraction both for the small scale experience, and being motivated by the twins. Whether people agree or not, it's her choice.

Re: Mariah and James (59,244) (59,254) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I've had a feeling this was coming for a long while. Mariah seems much more content within herself (not just because she's with James) it's a deep confidence and contentment that you can't get from another person. I feel their relationship is also genuinely solid for a lot or reasons. They have the same sensitivity and lifestyle. James seems very mature about life and is secure in himself. People will talk, but I wish them nothing but a life of joy and happiness.

Celine and Mariah (59,127) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
People can have different approaches to the same thing (Diva's Live '98) and still be friends. Hopefully Mariah's recent Facebook post to Celine (not to mention Celine's support around Mariah's pregnancy) demonstrates to the public and the fans that there is no diva feud just because they happen to work in the same industry.
