Re: Oh please, Adele? (58,980) (58,985) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Oops. In my last post I meant "Out of the woods" lol. I just watched something called "Into the woods" and got the two things mixed in my head. Lol. As for MC saying "I only listen to my own material", I just don't buy that. I honestly think she responds that way sometimes so that the media doesn't run with something she says about someone else.

this_is_qhm and Mimi L, it's nice to see other lambs also appreciate Taylor. 1989 is a fantastic album overall. (Though I do agree about "Bad Blood" and "Into The Woods".) I absolutely love "You Are In Love" and would be so happy if that were a single. It wasn't included in the deluxe version of 1989 and was only made available to buy as a song a few months ago here, but the thing I love about the album is that it is another example of how pop music can not only be good music, but as we know from Mariah's catalog, lyrically intelligent and meaningful. I know some fans don't like other music or other artists being discussed here, but here's the thing, Mariah has admitted on several occasions, since the launch of her career being obsessed with music. She's a fan herself and is practically a musical encyclopedia genius. I think it only enriches discussion about music and where Mariah comes from as an artist writing and creating music. I certainly get not talking about other people 24/7, but most of the time if someone else is brought up, it is within the context of Mariah herself or music trends of the moment which to me makes interesting discussion. Just my 02 cents.

I understood your post and wasn't attempting to correct anything you were saying. In fact, I agree with you that there is nothing to worry about (which was the intention behind my adding to the discussion about Adele on the board at the moment). I meant for my comments to be general on the topic, in addition to what you already mentioned.

Re: Oh please, Adele? (58,920) (58,924) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I honestly don't think Adele is trying to be anything other than an artist who makes something meaningful. She (in my humble opinion, anyway) is not trying to be "the next Mariah Carey". I adore music of all kinds. It's a big part of my life, and as such have watched some of her recent concerts and interviews. I like Adele, but I don't go out of my way to follow her or anything. You'd have to be living under a rock, however not to take note of what has occurred with 25. No one is more shocked and surprised than she is. Watch any of her promotional interviews for 25 and you'll hear her admit how blown away she is by the whole massive response to her right now. (In fact, following her taped concert special, she burst into tears because she was so nervous about her first performance in 4 years going well.) I don't think people grasp the tremendous pressure it can be for artists to be public figures. One day someone will probably "break the record" previously held by OSD. Just as Mariah did. I don't think it will be "Hello" but, if/when it does happen, it won't change or diminish any of Mariah's incredible accomplishments. She's already done so much in music in terms of legacy, and another artists success doesn't change anything.

Re: Celine's Rockefeller moment (58,863) (58,865) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I know right? I am sitting here going who cares? Artists have their ups and downs like everyone does. Imagine if the public stopped looking to celebrities and public figures to satisfy drama addiction and perfectionism? Instead of beating each other up, showing some understanding that stuff happens. It's not a big deal. Lol there are much more important things.

Re: New year, new album, new sound (58,812) (58,825) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Jojo's song is certainly lovely. I adore Ed Sheeran though. His catalog is stellar in its own right. I've got a lot of respect for him as a person and artist. I was thinking the other day, some of my favorite musicians are from the UK and Ireland. Ed, Coldplay, George Michael, Damien Rice, to name only a few. I won't get my hopes up for Ed to work with my fave vocalist ever (Mariah) but I have been saying for a long while now that it would be so cool for Mariah to venture deep into her singer/songwriter roots and pull something magical out of her bag. Regardless of what she chooses to do, I'm excited to see what's next for her.

Proud of Mariah post continued (58,758) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
It wasn't easy but they've managed to put the children first in a way that is pretty rare for any parent. Her team has really come together in a positive way, Mariah has been shining in her Beacon shows and Christmas special and she has been investing in projects that mean something to her despite public opinion of her. At the end of the day, she's got to do what feels right to her. It isn't about people pleasing. A person can never be genuinely confident while wrapped up in pleasing others. It's about being in the best place she can be in. As a fan from literally day 1, I honestly don't care about the next #1. Would it be awesome? Absolutely. But, I just want to see Mariah relaxed and in a good place for herself. Everyone and their dog can make judgements about where she's at, but as long as she's happy within herself it will show up reflected in the quality of her work and everything else.

Hi Alain. I'm not sure if we're allowed to post the link or not (I had to download the movie as I don't live in the USA and nothing carries The Hallmark Channel here). This is where I got it. If it is not okay to post this, I totally understand. Just delete the message. Merry Christmas.

Re: A Christmas Melody (58,622) (58,653) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
People are entitled not to like "A Christmas Melody". I can only hope my comments on the subject didn't come off as "instructing someone how to be a fan". Personally, I wouldn't try to do that. I just think the mood of the board can get awfully heavy at times about everything Mariah does. She's an entertainer and a person who likes to have fun and play like a kid. She's going to do things she feels are inspiring to her. She obviously felt moved to do the movie, and I suspect her kids were a huge motivation for her to take on the project. Especially while they are toddlers, and in conjunction with the All I Want book. Christmas is a magical time for children, and I really felt that inspired her approach and influence on the movie. I truly feel it's meant to be viewed through a child's eyes. Will it win awards and garner critical acclaim? Probably not. The network alone is not standard. But, clearly she didn't do it for that. Sometimes a lighter approach to Mariah's projects can make things more enjoyable.

A Christmas Melody (58,617) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Christmas movies (especially those made by Halmark - who are in the business of making sentimental heartfelt greeting cards) are intended to be soft, heartwarming, centered on children, a sense of innocence and family togetherness. Yes they are cheesy, corny and over the top. I mean for those saying the film is awful, have you actually seen other films Hallmark has produced? You might change your mind about Mariah's movie if you have. Lol. For a lot of people, Christmas movies in all their sentimentality, and corny jokes are part of the festivities of the season. Not everything has the weight of her entire career on it. It's a Christmas movie intended to be fun. I think most people can see that pretty objectively. The film is not an embarrassment to me, and I'll be adding it to my MC related Christmas festivities. I think Mariah made this film in the spirit of how a child would watch a movie at Christmas. Honestly, I feel her character is more of a cameo, and the character is exaggerated in the way children see things as bigger than they are. The contract also puposely draws attention to the main characters in the film.

This was really well done. One of their most successful and celebrated campaigns I bet. I love the humor you included, putting it together and the blooper at the end is great. Lol congrats. How fun to be able to bring Mariah into your work. Definately keep this in your portfolio.

Thanks for the videos and fun MC things you put on the board for everyone to enjoy. Lacey is really cute. I'm still hoping there will be a way to stream the movie and concert. I would absolutely love for them to be part of my celebration this year.

Well I actually didn't even read the article because the headline alone sounds made up. Lol. But the idea of a Mariah museum is cool to me. I can't apologize for that. My comment was more on the basis of the idea itself.
