Re: TMZ (63,935) (63,945)

Yes, I was talking about the beer allegations. By mentioning that incident, I was just alluding to the fact that people in life have often interjected their sense of reality into Mariah's world and her sense of reality. Whether it's a rogue nurse vying for attention, or an ex "friend" trying to sell a tell all, Mariah has been affected by disgruntled people trying to shake her world. So adding images and drama is like fodder for the rumor mills plus they can get too real in ones's real life. But Mariah is gonna do Mariah and fans are gonna fan and haters gonna hate and potatoes gonna potate. As always, I wish Mariah and her children the best.

Team and image (63,944)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

I seriously think Mariah needs a strong team. Not telling her to fire Stella, Stella can either handle selective things or stay as friends with Mariah but for in order revamp her image and focus of her music, Mariah needs a well established team. Someone with experience in the music industry and someone who can clean up her image and take the focus off her personal life and on her voice and professional life. Mariah has been giving consistent good performances all this time since last year, yet the focus is on her swearing at the paps, showing up almost naked to her party and all the negative things. Stella unfortunately gives more fire to this by posting these on her instagram and clapping back at small tabloids. We don't need the drama. What Mariah does in her private life is surely just her business and I have no problem with that. But all the recent public attention grabbing antics are going to eventually ruin her status. So it's best to get a good publicist and management. Who is her publicist at the moment? Does she even have one?

Marissa you've said a lot and hit all the points. Being a fan in no way means I have to love everything she does. She looked horrible and I won't not say anything because I'm a fan of her music. If you're ok with it then continue to support it, but none of us should have to pretend like we're ok with it if we aren't. Anyway eventually we will move passed this as we always do. She does something crazy and we fuss about it. Then she does something great and we go back to praising her. All is good in the lambily until she messes up again. Never ending cycle. Lol.

Wow, thank you Marissa, someone had to say that, and I'm glad you did, with such eloquence and grace. I have been a Mariah Carey fan unapologetically for 21 years now (1995). And see her as family and trust me when I say Mariah doesn't want to piss ones like me off to the point where we write her off permanently. Without the fans, who are you celebrity to?

Damn Marissa, your posts are fire. Seriously, I agree with all the things you are posting. I too scoffed at the "Mariah doesn't care about you" argument like it's something Mariah or the "real lambs" should be proud of.

You nailed it Marissa. I also don't understand some lambs who constantly advise others to go take a chill pill. It's not like I'm losing sleep over any of this. But the reason I am frustrated is because I am a hardcore fan. I am not ashamed of caring about her and her career, and I won't have a** licking lambs hanging me for it.

The thing with Vanity 6 was that was what they wore from the very beginning of their career. The shocker was when Vanity found Jesus and decided to no longer dress like that or perform secular music. Lol.

I find it interesting that you are using "Mariah doesn't care what you all think" as a way to silence critics, but how does it not disturb you that you are a fan of someone who truly doesn't give a f*** about you or what the lambs at large think? How are you presenting the fact that Mariah no longer cares about us as a badge of honor when she used to be one of the few celebrities that had a deep, ride or die connection with her fans? I've said it once and I'll say it again. The fans are the reason Mariah is worth $500+ million, has 18 #1s and has sold hundreds of millions of albums. It will be a cold day in hell before I feel like I'm a worthless peasant who has no place to speak. Mariah is doing us a favor by continuing to be active in her career but we are also doing her a favor by continuing to support it. This entire process is mutual. You can't have one without the other. I understand being annoyed with the influx of critical messages on here because I think at this point we've all made our point that the outfit was a mess and then some and it's probably time to chill, but to minimize our worth as fans when a lot of us have been holding her down since 1990 is extremely insulting and inaccurate. I'm not trying to be mean, but it really bothers me to see that other fans have lowered their standards for her to the point where they can be totally cool with Mariah giving no thought to the lambs' perspective especially when a lot of us are coming from a place of genuine concern and think that's the way loyal fans should be treated. It isn't right and shouldn't be accepted as normal.

Vanity 6 outfit (63,936)
by Edouard from France

Sheila E and Vanity 6 came out in 1982 with the same outfit. It wasn't such a big deal then. Almost 35 years ago. Get the reference please. She gave us legs, and less cleavage. She knows what she's doing. Plus it's 1Oak. I mean. Come on and smile people, just like she is.

RibbonB, I'm not quite sure I've heard about this incident with the authorities being involved, after she had them. Are you talking about the Guinness story, where a nurse called the police, or was there something else that happened?

Bleak as hell. It's like this board finds any negative little thing and the lambs go to the extreme. It's like your world ended. She's lost. She needs God. She doesn't love James. She lipped the bridge. She's dressed like a stripper. Blah blah first and foremost you all need to go get laid, examine your own life, ducktape your fingers together until you stop typing negative hateful messages about this imperfect human 46 year old woman.

Your post makes no sense, so it's hard to respond to. I'll say this though. Leave my connection to Mariah and her music to me. You worry about praising her every mistake to the moon and back. If I ever feel like it's time to quit her, I definitely won't need your advice on the matter. I'm not the first one who's been let down by some of Mariah's or her team's poor decisions and I'm sure I won't be the last.

Ok I get it, an overwhelming majority hated MC's club outfit. But all this assuming where her head space is or what is going to happen next is a bit much for me. Honestly this woman has given us so much where right now she can retire and say since I am no longer appreciated or all most of fans do is complain about everything I do why should I even record or tour anymore. Honestly MC has made the history books, toured, and lived her dream with children, and a soon to be new husband she can just hang up the mic and heels for good and I am sure a lot of us will be bummed. So I say let's appreciate our girl while we still can.

Mariah is Mariah (63,924)
by Nick from Maryland
| |
|
|
At this point Mariah is going to receive hate whether she wears no pants or wears a turtleneck. Mariah realizes this. Yes the ensemble was a mess but she is DJ'ing at a nightclub, not going on Ellen. She is living her life with or without you. Yes we want Mariah to do everything we want but Mariah does what she wants to do. She isn't going to change unless somebody has control over her like Mottola did, and that's not going to happen ever again. She is worth $520 million (actually more at this point). She can disappear from the music scene like Janet Jackson before her comeback and she can never tweet or never give interviews like Beyonce. Mariah doesn't have to do anything. She can stop performing live all together. She can move to an island with her billionaire boyfriend and twins and forget all about the "lambs". I'm not defending her antics, I'm just saying lets not just attack everything mistake she makes because she's very private and we don't actually know what she is going through right now. She doesn't have to do anything for you guys but she constantly does (and she loves the spotlight).

Wow (63,923)
by Lee from USA

If that how some of you all feel, then Mariah should retire instead of trying to please some [censored] fans. Do you think she really cares what you [censored] think? It is hard to agree with you all when you all listen to a guy who worships a rapper who pop pills and mistreats women. Like Sheila said, if you wanted a Barbie doll, then go buy one. M, if you wanted to leave her fan-base, there's the door. Seriously, where did you get your facts from? Where were most of you all up until the nightclub appearance? If I had 16.2 million Twitter followers, I would not care about a dozen "fans". Honestly, do you all have anything else to do besides complain about an artist who has "lost it"?

A very bad place (63,922)
by George Golden from UK
| |
|
|
I think she is very insecure. Where is the music? Back then it was all about the music, now it's all about her celebrity status. Rihanna is gaining on surpassing her record. I wonder how she will feel about that and don't dare tell me that she doesn't care. I became a fan because of her music, not her body. #Beautifull would have made number one but because of the video that was trying too hard to be sexy it became too awkward to watch. She is destroying her legacy. Where are people like Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin to advise her? She is in a very bad place.

This message board is becoming quite reactive to the fraction of every second of MC's life. Let's keep things in context of relativity. If you go to a club as a non-celeb, don't you go to have a good time, have a drink, flirt, dance, etc? Well, let MC have that same moment and yes she is a public figure but the general public is not spending timeless hours by digesting her every move the way certain hardcore fans do in here. Don't contribute to negative hypes by D-list media outlets and get out of here a bit more often. Go to the beach for a swim and come back with a new summery easy-breezy perspective. MC (a self-proclaimed imperfect angel) does not seem as invested in the legendary status as others. Perhaps she considers it a bit immature (professionally) as there is a lot of music left in her, therefore it's a bit early for legendary behaviors assigned to senior citizen artists.

Stella debrief: I really don't know her (63,919)
by Alexis Morell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan from USA

I don't quite understand who this Stella woman and her daughters are or why you all blame them so much. Fill me in please. Tbh, I spend my Mariah time only looking at Vegas VOL, My All, TGIFY videos on YouTube and collecting her stuff to build my collection. I love her but don't always like her as of late. I find more joy in collecting a 1993 Dreamlover 12" single from eBay than most of what she does in 2016.
