Caution is probably better than TEOM (106,581) by Terna from Nigeria Um no Sir, just no. The Emancipation Of Mimi was more than just a massive [era], that album literally saved Mariah from being a relic from the 90's, especially after the way her image, reputation and public perception had been dragged through the mud and negatively, intentionally altered by the media, since they held the narrative back then. Basically what they tried so hard to insinuate was that Mariah Carey was now a clown, not to be taken seriously at all. Smh. Until she was not, she deliberately took that narrative back and forced that respect, whether they liked it or not. She needed a monster hit not just a very good song but an undeniable classic, and that's exactly what "We Belong Together" was - a miracle and the kind of magic most artists don't achieve in their careers. This album out of all her other albums is in a lane of its own, and is also a crossing over from Icon to [legendary] status for her. "Caution" is Mariah resting pretty on her laurels safe, secure, untouchable and respected of course, with nothing more to prove. Caution is probably better than TEOM (106,573) by Robert-Anthony from United States That was my statement after listening to the Caution album and some 2017-2021 voice analysis YouTube videos today. My statement got me thinking after hearing how Lambs in the YouTube comments section just adore Caution. Before Caution, TEOM is a fan favorite post Butterfly. Lambs say that Caution is MC's most critically album and so many just love how MC's musicality just shines on Caution. Fan favorites like Giving Me Life, 8th Grade, and The Distance prove that MC was a bit hard on herself for saying that Caution was rushed. What she produced and delivered was further from the truth what fans would consider a rushed album. How many artists are able to go back and revisit an album track and recreate it into a marvelous world-class dance track? There are not many artists who can or are willing to do that like MC does so effortlessly with her catalogue. It is a great time to be a Lamb. I guess MC won't be able to say that MC16 was rushed. Muni and Mariah remix (106,469) by Terna from Nigeria This wasn't planned well. The core of this song is its strong, loud and vocal chorus in contrast to the sublime reflective verses. It got too loud, too fast on the first chorus with Mariah singing the tenor part of the chorus. That should've been done in her falsetto voice or left out entirely (former preferred) and only after her introduction which was her verse, should she have sung in full voice the same part. Mariah sounds good and smooth which is a plus and her belts are getting better and closer to what she used to sound like. Three out of 5 stars. (Wednesday 22 May 2024; 10:11)

JD, Skillrex and Solange Knowles (106,451) by Robert-Anthony from United States So I was curious what the insider account had say about MC working with JD again. When I saw my search come on my screen, I saw two names in addition to JD that made me smile. I saw that the insider account said that MC is working with Skillrex and Solange Knowles. I always thought The Distance was MC's favorite song and Skillrex was her favorite producer on Caution. Solange Knowles could give MC that Alternative R&B sound that I have been wanting her to do for a long time. Solange's Crane's In the Sky won her a Grammy in 2017. Mimi residency (106,163) by Terna from Nigeria So far, the clips I have seen on social media, IG especially, some accounts were even uploading in real time, I am impressed in the production value and the whole esthetic of the show very high value, worthy of an album and era that literally saved this woman and moved her from icon to legendary status. Vocally, it is what it is. I feel like some songs (most of the songs if not all) have been lowered in key to fit her current voice and have her singing in her lower mix without stressing too much and doing much vocally, they sound good but not as impactful as their original keys, being a soprano it almost sounds like she's singing "too low" if that makes sense. I think Mariah has finally gotten help professionally in terms of a speech therapist and maybe even vocal coach. Her rendition of "Vision of Love" had her holding the "be" at the end of the song like on the record instead of shifting the vowel sound to an "eh" as she has done so many times in the past. I'm asking this question not for your opinion about if Diddy is guilty or innocent, but I'm curious if the allegations about illegal activity turns out to be true (particularly the traffic allegation), how do you think that would affect some of Mariah's music? I know some people won't even listen to BGK from Memoirs because of RK, but songs like Honey and the remix has Diddy all over it, and those are big popular songs in her discography. Maybe a re-release with a brand new extra disc (I'm being greedy lol) of new songs that never made the final cut - you know she did write and record that album the whole year through 2004. I remember Mariah was missing in action all year, then materialized with that silvery metallic blue dress at an event at the end of the year. Photoshoot (105,897) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter Markus Klinko, the photographer behind Mariah's iconic TEOM shoot, has been hired by her again to do a new shoot for her Vegas residency. Apparently the photos will be inspired by TEOM photos. Now this has got me thinking, why is that the case? She's been recycling old TEOM photos for it and it's just. Month away why is she now doing a new shoot? Could she be using it for MC16? Fun fact for those who don't know, Mariah called Markus in the middle of the night insisting on him doing the shoot and asking for an exact pose he saw from his work, here's the inspiration photo. As I mentioned, these are simply opinions. While I might disagree with your opinion, I would never discourage you from expressing it. One need not be an expert to recognize when Mariah doesn't look great in certain outfits, just as one need not be a doctor to sense when something is amiss health-wise with someone. And yes, Mariah's sound (105,548) by Terna from Nigeria The new song has been well received, which is good. However I have to be honest here, Mariah does not sound good on recording anymore. She can mask it in live performances, but in the studio, the microphone picks it up ever so easily - that metallic edge in her voice has gotten gravelly and more jarring as she has aged and her mid register is virtually impossible to access without pushing thus the hefty "shouty" belts, her singing now lacks a mix and fluidity key elements for the type of singer she is, with a repertoire that relies heavily on agility and the ease of singing she used to have. I know she's very much aware of this and this message is not in any means or way trying to disrespect her, or make fun of her, this comes from a place of absolute love. I respect the work she's done in music and acknowledge her contributions. However I do feel it's time Mariah considered vocal nodule surgery. At this point they have become obstructive and she cannot sing through or around them like she used to ("My All" comes to mind, you can really hear it on that song). Yes, And? remix (105,477) by Terna from Nigeria At first [listen], it's more "umph" than the original and it's been rewritten by Carey of course (I [love] her verse), I'm not excited about the song because it's not melodic enough and honestly, an uptempo isn't what I look forward to hearing from these two very talented ladies, an intentional ballad where they let loose with a flurry of high notes, harmonies and layered vocals for days, just a [euphoric] experience is more in line with what I want, expect and I'm on the look out for (fingers crossed). Maybe the recording academy has seen the error in its ways, who knows, but like Trevor pointed out 34 nominations and only 5 wins for an artist of her caliber is unacceptable and just absurd. Meanwhile Beyoncé (and this isn't shade to Bey because I [love] her as well) is the most awarded artist in the industry, whose body of work pales in comparison to Mariah's is just laughable. That award show is obsolete in 2024 and Mariah does not need them to acknowledge what the whole world already knows, that indeed she has had powerful lasting impact on the whole world, even in territories where English is a secondary language. It is plain to see that she has triumphed - a true winner, after that 1996 incident the world has not forgotten. If you ask me, that "foiling" was the beginning of the end of this Grammys show. 10 Years prior (104,997) by Terna from Nigeria I think this year 2024 is when Mariah is going to release the album she was, or wanted to release 10 years ago, that will put her back as a mainstream artist with massive hits and a reintroduction to the younger generation. For us that were here back then, there was a totally different tracklist going around, that ended up being very different from what we got when MIAM was released, with a host of songs missing. I always got the notion it was a "substitute" or "decoy" so to speak, that she dropped in 2014. Something just felt incomplete about it, however the album has aged well overtime.
