About Terna from Nigeria: Fan since 1998 - The "Butterfly" Era. Fave Era - The Emancipation of Mimi, watching her break that Night was Everything.

Caution (85,992) by Terna from Nigeria
Listened to the album in it's entirety soon as midnight struck. Lol. Instant faves:
8th Grade - (Remember JoJo's Edibles?) This sounds like a sibling of that song.
Caution - Solid title track.
Giving me Life is a whole journey and gave me chills
One mo' Gen like GTFO but more complicated melody, vocals and lyrics and that cackle at the end is everything. Hehe.
Notable mentions:
Potrait - The "Looking in" and album closer. Would have to grow on me I didn't really click with this one.
Stay Long Love You - The "To The Floor" of this record. I already know I will not be playing this one often. Sugaplum you better not like this song. Lol she's going to kill me.
Overall rating 4.5 out of 5 stars. Solid album.

Rumor has it (85,968) by Terna from Nigeria
That Mariah samples "Butterfly" on "Runaway".

Glitter justice - iTunes #1 (85,957) by Terna from Nigeria
This is amazing. And yet so strange. Like wow 17 years later. I guess this is justice indeed for "Glitter". That record contains some of her best work, I don't even know what to say it's so bizarre. Lol I was in high school when all that happened. I'm so proud of Mariah and the Lambs and the way we show love for her. Who said Mariah doesn't matter in 2018? It's Mariah's world and we're just living in it. Lambs rock.

Re: Caution top 4 so far (85,890) (85,906) by Terna from Nigeria
1. GTFO. I was hooked with the very first listen and it's still my favorite out of all the four tracks and is in heavy (all caps) rotation.
2. The Distance. I liked it at first play but then it digresssed a little bit and then kinda picked back up again. Lol.
3. With You. Took a lot of plays to get into but I love it enough to not skip when it comes on and the video enhanced the song actually.
4. My Least favorite. Doesn't mean I don't like it which I do, but I like the other three much more.
Caution is easily gonna be a solid Mariah Carey album and a favorite of mine.

Re: Rainbow era interview (85,845) (85,884) by Terna from Nigeria
I know right she's very knowledgeable about her voice and moreso on music in general, so I always like to listen to her opinion on voices and the technical aspect of singing. Listening to Mariah made me start tweaking and testing my own voice when I was younger and I discovered and developed different parts of the voice like the whisper register she talks about which is kinda overlapping the whistle register, developing one automatically does the other and you get this crazy ease of singing as you develop it more. Singer stuff I know. Lol.

Rainbow era interview (85,839) by Terna from Nigeria
I think this is the most in depth Mariah has spoken on her voice and how it functions as an instrument. Ok now I want to hear the demo version of "Vision of Love".

The Voice coaches (85,295) by Terna from Nigeria
I'm sitting here watching the promo clips of Mariah Carey on The Voice and I'm noticing the judges are fangirling over Mariah. Guys this is Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Adam Levine all big stars in their own right, looking at her like she's the Holy Grail of the music industry and in actual sense she is. Lol. Sometimes I feel like us Lambs are too familiar with Mariah Carey. Y'all need to put some respect on her name, think of it for a split second. She debuted in 1990 and is still relevant today.

The Distance (85,036) by Terna from Nigeria
Solid. Easily up there with "Heart Breaker" and "It's Like That", but also current like how #Beautiful was at the time, it has first single written all over it. This "Caution" era and rollout is so unorthodox, nothing is as it seems. Lol I love it. Mad props to Roc Nation too. Mariah has a hit on her hands.

Caution (84,929) by Terna from Nigeria
The Line from "It's Like That" instantly came to mind. This just confirms the term Jermain Dupri used to describe the new music - "aggressive". Lol. In exactly one month we're going to have a new Mariah Carey album. I'm excited as to how it's going to sound like, but judging from the released songs so far, I'd say loving it already and can't wait. We should be expecting an album track listing and artwork anyday now one month isn't a long time.

(84,741) by Terna from Nigeria
I'm getting a lot of past videos vibes with this new video "With You". Is that the same house with the GTFO video and also that magazine shoot she did a while back recently. It's also been awhile we saw Mariah driving, I actually forgot she could drive. Lol. Anyways I love it, it certainly flows well with the song and the sepia tone gives it this vintage feel. Mariah looks the best she's looked since 1997. PS: That American Music Awards performance was flawless like a piece of art.

With You (84,298) by Terna from Nigeria
This is a clear cut example why she is her own lane with absolutely no competition and a cut above the rest. A well written, well produced, beautifully sung ballad about true love - classic Mariah Carey. This new song "With You" reminds me of the Mariah I fell in love with in the fall of 1997 - the Mariah that creates music for the love of it.

"Without You" the live version (83,969) by Terna from Nigeria
Somehow I never really cared for this song especially the studio version found on the "Music box" album until I watched the performance at Proctor's Theater. Wow. That was the moment that song took on a different form and revealed itself to me so to speak and I got it. That performance is so powerful and to me is stronger than what was put down on wax even production wise. Anytime I want to play this song I find myself gravitating more to the live version.

Re: Voice question (83,910) (83,935) by Terna from Nigeria
That would be her falsetto kinda like how Maxwell sings "This Woman's Work". It's a singing style heavily used by R&B singers sometimes to create a certain vibe and it works perfectly for this song. Hearing her sing in this voice is reminiscent of the "Charmbracelet " album, but a much cleaner less airy sound than then.

GTFO video (83,846) by Terna from Nigeria
I like the video it matches the song it's not a video that needs a story, the story is in the title that says it all. What carries it however are her expressions. And the way she glides through the song so effortless. This song just might catch on full time and become an unplanned hit. I'm already seeing GTFO meme everywhere on social media. Lol. There are funny moments in the video that cracked me up like the hand gesture and that eye roll at the 3:14 mark. Is it me or doesn't it look like her eyes are super bright here like you're almost staring into another world. So beautiful. Mariah hasn't aged since 1998.

Gtfo - instant classic (83,735) by Terna from Nigeria
During the "#Beautiful" era I read an interview where Miguel describes the way the song was created and I recall him saying something along the lines of "Mariah is very intentional about her vocals and the songwriting process as a whole". In other words the way you hear her sing it is the way she intended. GTFO is a clear indication of that. This has to be her most intriguing vocal ever. I've never heard her sing like this before. It's sung in a very high falsetto on purpose and it works. The mood, the vibe and the feeling it invokes is instant and if you listen closely to the lyrics storytelling Mariah is back. And they say this is just a buzz single. Oh boy I'm hyped for this era. Welcome back Mariah.

Now that's a beautiful picture for the single artwork she just about confirmed the rumors on Instagram and Twitter. This is gonna be interesting. Fingers crossed.

Re: Agressive music (83,540) (83,568) by Terna from Nigeria
Aggressive may also be describing a lot of the other aspects like lyrics, vocals, the use of profanity, she may spit a rhyme or two "f**k the Grammies you know they foiled me in '96" (haha) don't be surprised, Look no further than the song "Prisoner" from her debut, she's done it before - the rapping part that is. I feel like Mariah is going to be "unapologetic" in this era in the sense of owning her legendary status and not being coy or watering it down to seem humble as she's done in the past and she's gonna be her own mouth piece.

Sure do. It's my favorite version of the song even moreso than the original version. You didn't drop an email.

Lady Soul, Aretha Franklin (83,392) by Terna from Nigeria
Out of nowhere yesterday, I suddenly thought of Aretha and then I played "Sparkle" and "It Hurts Like Hell" and hoped she was ok, only to log on much later in the day and find out about her passing. I'm so affected by this news of Aretha, kinda like the same way with Whitney's death. She's been around my whole life, heck she's been here since before my parents got married. Music is truly never going to be the same again. Rest on Aretha - the voice of an entire generation.

Re: Where Are You Christmas (83,249) (83,266) by Terna from Nigeria
I always heard Mariah wrote and recorded the song for herself and her version still exists locked away somewhere in the vaults unreleased. It's a beautiful song that has Mariah written all over it even Faith's delivery I'm guessing is very close to the original. Hoping Mariah's version is unearthed someday soon.

Aww, thanks man I appreciate. I have been missing for a minute haven't I? Life gets in the way I guess, not as frequent as I used to be here when I was a teen. Lol. I also look forward to your posts as I love your energy and I always get a big grin everytime I read them. Lol. Would love to connect outside this board if you're interested. Re: A message for B (83,220) (83,223) by Terna from Nigeria
As Aretha Franklin would say "Lies, stacked upon more lies." Also please do speak for only yourself when you say "I've not seen her deliver a decent 100% live performance since 1996. None of us have." Well I have, countless times and that right there is a blatant fat lie. Honestly, you old fans need to quit disrespecting this woman.
