My MC 2015 fantasy wish list (48,007) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End (Saturday 22 November 2014; 3:07)
PREFACE
I started out wanting to make or update my previous wish list to realizing that I'm not really that hung up on Mariah accomplishing more than she already has. That's not to say that I will not celebrate in her future commercial endeavors, obviously. Just that it's not as important as being truly spiritually fulfilled.
I wish that for myself and I pray that for other people that I love and even people I don't know or have a natural liking for. I understand that not everybody is going to get why I feel the need to post this but I would reference Mariah's own expressed Faith and core beliefs and desires since the world first heard 'Vision of Love'. This is who she has always been striving to become. I recently reread Her autobiography: 'The Meaning of Mariah Carey' and these are some of the thoughts I came away with:
"Hopes, Dreams, Wishes, and Prayers for Mariah Carey:
1. Spiritual Fulfillment - That she continues to nurture her relationship with God, leaning on Him for guidance, peace, and joy in all aspects of her life.
2. A Godly Marriage - That she finds a partner who shares her faith, values, and desire to honor God in their union.
3. Healing and Restoration - That the scars from her past—whether from childhood or past relationships—are fully healed, allowing her to live with peace and joy unshaken by old wounds.
4. Authentic Love and Support - That she surrounds herself with people who truly love, respect, and support her for who she is, beyond her celebrity persona.
5. Grace to Be Human - That she is shown grace and understanding by others, allowing her to make mistakes, grow, and evolve without judgment or undue criticism.
6. Freedom from Worldly Pressures - That she finds liberation from the entertainment industry’s materialistic and superficial values, allowing her to fully embrace her God-given identity.
7. Purposeful Legacy - That she continues to use her platform and music to inspire others and share the presence of God, as she has done through her Christmas albums and other works.
8. A Loving and Faith-Centered Family - That her family relationships, including with her children, remain strong, loving, and centered on mutual faith and respect.
9. Unwavering Faith - That she remains steadfast in her faith, even when faced with life’s challenges, and continues to be a beacon of hope for others.
10. Divine Guidance - That she discerns God’s will in her decisions, whether in her personal life or professional endeavors, and trusts His plan for her. "
In Jesus Almighty name, Amen.

The Elusive Chanteuse Show and the Mariah fandemonium (47,517)

LC and Deedre, so glad you all enjoyed the concert, as did I. Imagine, it was filmed by a fan, how much better wouldn't Mariah sound if it was recorded professionally? But I love how candid it was and how the fangurling was so on point. Encore encore encore. Lambs at their best. It's obvious to me that MC is getting undeservedly bad press on account of a couple bad notes. I now even question the validity of those early 00:16 clips that starred the whole "Mariah can't sing anymore" meme that had the anti-lambs salivating at the possibility of Mariah losing her mojo. Does anyone else find it funny how Mariah is only accused of singing live when it's "bad" and never when it's good? I mean, some hobby-critics go as far as splicing one single performance into: live plus lipped and dubbed vocals to try and justify their often times logical conclusions. God forbid, once in a blue moon, Mariah Carey live would ever be capable of sounding like, oh I don't know, Mariah Carey on a record?

Mariah was born in 1970 (47,457)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

Who knows why they added a year to her age in this article from November 1993 and made her 24 when her mother Patricia is quoted dating Mariah "not yet three" in 1972. The rest of the article has her graduating HS in 1987 and being signed by Tommy in 1988, ten months later. Also, why would her own classmates lie about her age? Being a year older in HS is a big deal, people remember that kind of thing. I personally think the whole Mariah birther movement is a remnant from Tommy Mottola's years long smear campaign of Mariah after their divorce. The whole debate reminds me of those Japanese WWII soldiers who kept fighting for the Emperor in the jungles of Asia, for decades after it ended, refusing to surrender. I guess Tommy's payola was well placed.

Andrew, what do you like about Mariah? (47,455)

I'm curious about what you and your cosigners actually enjoy about Mariah. Please enlighten this board of any and all reasons why you are constantly being so personally offended that she is still singing and making music. You do not speak for the public anymore than I do so stop billing yourself as the spokesperson for the populus with your negativity. We all know Mariah isn't speaking of you and your ilk when she refers to her loyal lambs. That would be delusional right? You are the one who is an embarrassment with your passive aggressive jabs at Mariah on a message board dedicated entirely to her and those of us who appreciate her as an artist and human being. You ain't slick.

So, Harry Nilsson was the writer? (47,388)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
So, I just saw an extended video of the Without You performance in Beijing and Mariah starts out by shouting out Harry Nilsson, as the songwriter. Did she legitemately forget about Pete Ham and Tom Evans? 00:09 "So, Harry Nilsson, he was the writer of this particular song." Did anyone else catch that? I tend to think Mariah said it on purpose to be funny, like how so many people think she remade AIWFCIY and didn't write the song herself. Well, at least she never personally claims writing credit for songs she didn't write.

This performance won't get any press because it's good. How ironic is that? We love it though, Mariah is still giving us stellar vocals. Enjoy.

Lambily and shady pines (47,364)

Why is staying positive and supportive of Mariah considered delusional on a freaking Mariah Carey messageboard? Please let me know where else a lamb can be an unapologetic fan and I'll go there instead. Detractors, perpetual critics, non fans have a million forums and avenues. They are everywhere. But I love how I'm supposed to sympathise with the plight of negative posters who will have us believe they are somehow the victims of deluded Mariah fans. Before you go around campaigning for Mariah's premature retirement maybe you should lead by example and retire as an MC "fan". Talk about a broken record.

The attack of Mariah game (47,325)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
Being a lamb is not for the faint of heart. You have to be constantly on your A game, there is no relax mode because somebody is always coming for her sideways. Even the ones who were the closest to her at some point literally turn on a dime. It's no wonder she and MJ bonded. Well, I'm not going to be made to fell like a villain for looking forward to seeing her in concert, something I have never had the opportunity to do before, when she comes to Europe. Concerts are also a chance for fans to show their appreciation and love for the performer. There is always gonna be someone who isn't happy in the audience for whatever reason. But I refuse to let them be the barometer for what I personally enjoy about Mariah's concerts. I like the unpredictable adlibs and impromptu anecdotes. Where are there are so many reasons why I love Mariah, her voice is really only one aspect of the equation, a very lovely and magnificent part. But I think she is hilariously funny too, and intelligent, kind, generous, loyal, inspirational and Mariah has so much integrity, a quality I am most in awe of whenever it presents itself because of the rarity.

Mariah and the elusive surgery (47,324)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
May, Julie Andrews settled with the hospital responsible for the surgery so I'm not surprised that she has been gagged from speaking in depth about what exactly happened to her. But before the settlement she did speak of having "one nodule". In the Oprah interview she sorta skirted the issue by saying she never had cancer, "nodules" or anything. Notice the use of plurals and the omission of qualifying what she did have. So technically Julie was telling the truth and honouring any nondisclosure clauses all at the same time. There are a lot of people who are salivating at the mere thought of Mariah not being able to sing that would rejoice in her misery if what happened to Julie happened to her too. My point is, Mariah doesn't need to be pressured into risking her "saving grace". Even if it comes from a good place, we as fans have to be careful what we put out there. Mariah is just as susceptible to manipulation as anyone of us. We should choose to support her when she's down and not jump down her throat at every missed note.

Mariah and Julie Andrews vocal nodules surgery (47,305)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
Hi May, I'm not sure who your "source" is for your last post but clearly it wasn't Julie Andrews herself. The Internet's are full of faulty information, as Mariah fans I think we can appreciate all that. Julie Andrews did in fact have surgery in 1997 to remove vocal nodules and has since not sung a song. Not a note. If you don't want to take my word for it (you should always demand a credible source to people's claims) I suggest you take a look at this interview she did with Barbara Walters and hear her echo what I just wrote. You are entitled to your own opinions but not to your own facts. No hard feelings, I just needed to set the record straight.

Give Mariah some credit, not medical advice (47,276)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
I mean, do some of you really think she doesn't know what to do to get her voice in shape? Name another singer who has spoken more about humidifiers and their benefits, tea with honey, vocal warmups, drinking through straws to avoid germs, abstaining from alcoholic beverages because they dry out her voice, not smoking or being around smoke because of the damage it causes to the voice (aside from it being unhealthy in general), getting enough sleep and rest to recuperate physically, exercising, staying hydrated and going on vocal rest. I know most of that stuff because of Mariah. She has the respect and friendship of all of the other great singers in the world as well as her mother the opera singer as well as her loyal backup singers like Trey and Mary-Ann. Yet some of you were ready to put her to put her entire career in danger on a whim? Do you realize Julie Andrews lost her singing voice after her nodules surgery? But you want to recommend Mariah take the same gamble because of a couple bad notes? Some of you take critiquing too far.

The ladies of the talk speaking like true lambs (47,233)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

This clip sums up perfectly what is wrong with many of the comments this past weekend about Mariah's opening night in Tokyo. What does it say about you if casual fans and women employed to gossip have more compassion for Mariah than some of you so called "lambs" do? Maybe you need to downgrade to sheep and join the rest of the hatebrigade like all the other [censored] who are just waiting for Mariah to slip up so their lesser faves have a chance to be relevant.

A fan in need is a fan indeed (47,168)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End

I'm having a hard time discerning fairweather fans from regular haters. There are rumour mongers going all over the internet spreading the idea of Mariah being a drunk for God knows what reasons. Why are posters allowed to perpetuate the alcoholism rumour as if it's the truth? I remember when Shania Twain had a really hard time singing again after her divorce. Is it that farfetched to think Mariah might be going through a similar situation? I hope she makes a few stops in Europe so I can hear her sing live, I think she sounds great on the longer clips fans have put up like: Don't Explain. I can't wait to hear more audio. Mariah, please don't pay any attention to all of the blatant negativity. You have a God given gift that has blessed millions of people, myself very much included. Be happy, I love you and wish you all the best, see you soon hopefully.

Don't take away Mariah's spirit (47,145)
by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
| |
|
|
People forget how Mariah's first concert tour was slammed in the beginning. Now critics want to refer to those times to keep criticising her for her vocals now. Mariah's voice has always had detractors. Some people will never acknowledge she ever had it in the first place, talking all that smack about it being manufactured in the studio. Also [censored] llambs might as well be plants of people with "an agenda", for all the compassion and loyalty they are showing Mariah, all over the internet. I see you. Mariah has never been even a millionth as harsh, whenever she was asked about someone else's singing ability, as some of the random people who constantly have disparaging things to say about everything she does. She knows not to go around breaking someone's spirit just to be on the bandwagon of the moment. Mariah's not a machine so don't talk about her like she's a broken piece of metal when you go around claiming to be a fan of hers. It gives the perpetual haters and Media at large ammunition to go even harder on her than they otherwise would. Stop bringing Mariah down.
