I don't like to comment much about the Nick situation because I think we are in no position to but I read something that really struck home. One of those articles that talk about possible reasons for their trouble say that Nick tried too hard to prove he was worthy after the wedding which he didn't need to at all "because Mariah already proved he was worthy by marrying him in the first place". One rare bit of tabloid journalism that I actually agree with.

Ariana etc. (46,501)

I just read something on twitter that caught my eye: Debbie Gibson tweeted "Props to Mariah Carey who clearly influenced Ariana Grande and set the stage for so many others." Nice to have a peer acknowledge MC. I know she doesn't need it or care but still. I actually liked The Way when I heard it because MC's influence was so strong there. But her not citing MC as an influence or inspiration annoys me. Maybe her producers got her to mimic MC's sound and she actually wasn't one of her favorite singers growing up. Who knows? I'm excited about MC turning to the lambily for setlist choices. HI hpe the marriage issue settles down/blows over soon.

Is it a wrap? (46,186)
by Shezz from Pk

Looks like the rumours and speculations are snowballing and might just be grounded in truth. Until it's not officially announced we can never know I suppose. Looks like Mary J's notorious intro in It's A Wrap was actually taken to heart by MC afterall. Though I was not ecstatic about Nick in the beginning I grew to appreciate Nick and was happy that she finally got her "perfect family" that she always wondered about. It would explain a lot about the past few months. Lets say a little prayer for MC and Nick and Roc and Roe and hope for the best for them.

Does anybody remember the last time Mimi left a message for us? All we get is her stunting on her instagram. But that sh*t ain't everything. She has not directly addressed us in a long long time. Whatever the issues may be. What's the excuse for that? Something's up for sure but I'm going to patiently wait I guess. My boyfriend asked me the other day if I still love Mimi just as much or just follow her out of habbit after all these years. I said I think it's a bit of both.

Betcha Gon' Know remix (44,641)
by Shezz from Pk

Other than all the bewilderings brewing around I still get extremely baffled when I hear the lyrics that R Kelly sings on the song. It's like they are singing 2 different songs. If MC spent years perfecting this album, how she let this slide is beyond me. If I shut my brain off and listen I like the song but the song is supposed to be about how she finds her man with another woman in her own bedroom. I think R is talking about another night or another woman.

Marriage / promo (44,391)
by Shezz from Pk

I think MC and Nick are now finally practicing being more private about their personal lives. Uptil recently they were almost forcing themselves onto the public with Nick and his uncontrollable interviews/comedy shows and MC on instagram. Now that they are being quiet about it, for whatever reason, the media is speculating and jumping to conclusions, wrong or right. I understand that they were crazy in love and wanted to show the world but maybe they should have been a little more discrete from the beginning. As for what they have planned for promo is just baffling. When MC nearly hit rock bottom after Glitter she started from the basics while promoting Charmbracelet. Forger the tv shows and interviews, she even did meet and greets at malls. Whoever her manager/publicist was then was quite strict with her. I don't get what's happening now, does she feel that she's above making these traditional promo rounds? Maybe she's a little too apprehensive about live performances now. I wonder if Meteorite was fully live at WMAs. She has a solid album but her name now means very little as is sadly obvious with the sales. I can't believe that these are label issues. She cannot tank her own album and she has made it abundantly clear how it means the world to her. Sadly she doesn't act that way right now. I am sure she has her reasons. Motherhood? Personal problems? I wish her the best but I just want some proper promotion for this lovely album.

Sam Smith (44,143)
by Shezz from Pk

So it seems like Sam Smith is the competition right now, not Coldplay. Though MC has several versions of the album, adding them all up could place her higher. JD is on twitter telling lambs to get their friends to buy it on iTunes but I think more traditional promo would help much more. Lets hope they know what theyre doing. TEOM was an extremely commercial album which helped keep it on the charts forever. MIAM is not as commercial, more of an oldschool music lover's album. Fingers crossed, lets wait until tomorrow for the first day reports. And hope for the best.

US first week sales (44,140)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
So all eyes are now gonna be on Billboard projections. I hope she gets a number1 album with MIAM that she deserves. She has major competition from Coldplay's second week. They sold close to 400k first week. Second week would see them drop to the 200k range which would still be difficult for Mimi considering how much Memoirs sold during better album sales time and with a hit lead single. I wanna believe that the added hype this time will push her sales a bit but I'm not sure and don't wanna get my hopes up. Additional promo will certainly help, she better get back from Monte Carlo asap. Where are the typical tv show appearances like Ellen? I don't understand.

Somebody save this gem of a track YDKWTD from the irritating claws of Wale's voice. I can still tolerate his unnecessary rap verses, but how can one talk over that beautiful intro? We need a petition for a Wale free version.

Cover / promo pics (43,546)

So it doesn't take a keen eye to notice that Mimi has been using pics from a year ago when she was in great shape for album, single covers etc. Just read a comment on twitter likening her pics to out of date Grindr pics which I found funny. I don't have a problem with old pics but it makes people think she's photoshopped herself to shape when she actually was in that shape a year ago.

Thirsty album version (43,538)
by Shezz from Pk

Ok so this is the album version, revolt.tv has it up. Definitely liking Mimi being the only one featured. Cant get the chorus out of my head but there are a lot of parts that non lambs will find incoherent. Power 105 played the remix. Not complaining but I wish there were more parts of full voice singing. Top 20 material. Which is great for Mariah considering what's been happening.

Ok just heard a decent quality rip of thirsty. Loved the hook. Bits in the middle where she doesnt sing in her full voice and slows the beat down. Not so sure about those. Waiting for the rap free version and a better quality. Really liked it but does anybody else find the over production drowning out Mimi a bit?

Vent about Mariah board? (43,431)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
It's been a little difficult reading all these messages lately about all the wrong going on with Mariah physically and emotionally, professionally and personally. I agree with a lot that has been said here. We all wish she'd keep the girls in. We'd all like some live singing. We all want her to look her best physically because deep down inside she is a huge part of our existence and we want her to put her best foot forward because we want to basically show off our Mariah to the world and want everyone to love her as much as we do and see how awesome she is. When someone is such a huge icon and public figure we tend to forget that they are human and have the right to do what they want and that they will do things that seem like mistakes to us - that's what makes her human. Lets all try to focus on the positive and hope for the best for her professionally and personally. As she says, it is what it is. Hopefully she'll give us one heck of an album we'll talk about for years.

Apparent surprise (42,958)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
It seems that the media is assuming the surprise/secret element of the release themselves and drawing comparisons to Beyonce. Nowhere has Mariah herself mentioned yet that the album will be a surprise or a secret - all she's said is that she will release all the info and music at once. I'm tired of the media attacking her for not knowing how surprises work. As for the possible short delay. [censored] Lambs take a deep breath and carry on with your lives. The album will get here when it gets here. Stop acting like you've been done this horrible personal injustice.

Webmaster (42,935)

Ok, new here and I didn't know that the webmaster proof reads and changes some words. I actually wrote since he's not listed in the performers in the Billboard article, maybe she means Stevie Wonder is the surprise guest. [Webmaster: If you just write in English, I don't have to change words. "n" and "r" are not words, the same for "cud", "wud" and "cudnt".]

Album release / special guest (42,933)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
Is anybody else concerned about the fact that splitting the album release between digital first and physical week 2 might not give her enough of a first week tally to get her a number 1 album? As we all know sadly Mimi no longer has that large of a fanbase. If some of the lambs wait for the physical cd to purchase it, we could sadly see a low first week total. Secondly, I hope rumours are true and Beyonce is the special guest, but since he's not listed in the guest stars, couldn't it be Stevie Wonder? (Which would be awesome as well.)
