Merry Christmas all of you, and especially to the queen of the season - but what travesty of an outfit is this? You're supposed to decorate the Christmas tree, not wear it and look hunchbacked from certain unflattering angles.

Really, 2016? You started the year by taking David Bowie, and then Prince, and you just had to take one more, did you? Rest in peace to one half of Wham! and one of the best male singers of all time, George Michael. Never thought this would be his last Christmas. And we're never gonna dance again.

"Marella" sounds just about right. Mariah never went to college so I guess she could make up for lost time by having her college lesbian phase in her late 40s. They'll make a very, very (I cannot emphasize this eough) uneven couple.

Yeah you did. You can now get creative and introduce new / perpetuate other existing variations such as "yass queen", "yass bitch", "yass child", "yass honey", "yass ho", "yass heffa", or as an homage to Stella's larger than life highlighter, "yass Ursula" (which I'm just realizing kinda sounds like a precursor to "bye Felicia").

The Mariah - Stella relationship (70,105)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
Is best summarized during that scene where Stella reassures Mariah that she's not getting booed when she actually is. Stella may be one tough cookie, but never to Mariah, and Mariah definitely craves the constant adoration and yass-girling (Edward, *wink*) so she makes it a point to surround herself with fake experts at kiss-ass-ery. It's like the blind leading the blind. Oh, honey.

MIAMTEC would've sold possibly double its first week sales if it were released around June-July 2013, which we all know was around the time the accident happened. If it were, it would have been a slightly different album, a few tracks shorter perhaps (I would like to know the ones that still weren't done by that time), but at least she would have charted higher and the follow-up singles would have had a better shot at success.

Carpool Karaoke thoughs (70,017)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

5. Lady GaGa looked really stunning here. 4. Adele does a good whistling Mariah impression. 3. Perhaps Demi decided to come after Mariah right after filming this because she knew how "stanky" Mariah would be months later when she films her own parts. Clairvoyant. 2. It's just sad when everyone else seems happier and way more interested than you are in singing your own festive song. She did at least sing more than she did on her first segment, though. 1. Still, top 10 here we come.

Article: Carpool Karaoke turned into a star-studded sing-along (69,995)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
On the one hand, I'm disappointed because this only serves to reinforce the fact and her image as someone who purposely avoids performing with other singers because she just can't sing like she used to anymore, but on the other hand this clip is pretty much guaranteed to go viral and that would bode well for AIWFCIY's chart position. Just because it's Christmas I prefer to focus on the latter. Top 10 here we come.

I'd be over the moon if it actually breaks into the top 10 in the following weeks. Does anyone remember its chart trajectory last year before it peaked at #11? It may give us an idea of how it performs this year. I have a feeling it's doing better this year.

Mariah's World (69,247)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
This may be premature as I'm only judging by with pilot episode, but if Mariah's reason for filming this reality show (I mean come on, docu-series? I tried with that term, but seriously) is that she honestly just wants to spin this footage into something that she would be "proud of" in the future, then I honestly don't see that happening. Like ever.

Bleakness (69,202)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
While Mariah says "bleak" more and more times just like she does "abusive", "dahhlin" and "festive", I always think, "Yeah, that's exactly what your future will look like if you don't get it together and stop acting as 'bleak' as the people you describe." The hypocrisy can be hilarious sometimes. On a much lighter note, there's just something about the Beacon Theatre that somehow forces the singing badass out of her, even if it's just intermittently. And I'm like, "Okay, it's cool that you wanna do this for these venues, but this is how you should be when you're on TV, woman." (All caps punctuated by exclamation points, while shaking her madly.)

I'm being judgmental but I feel like a lot of posters here would agree that he seems thirsty - maybe even more so than Nick was in some ways. Although I do get why you felt relieved - maybe the cougar storyline was easier to swallow and was much more comforting to accept than the Packer angle, which was more of uncharted territory. At least we know how the former played out for her. It wasn't the best ending, but at least it worked out well somehow. Imagine the circus it would have been had she actually married James. Any fool could foresee the end.

True. But even if she's everything she wants, we'll see how she fairs when it comes to promoting an entire album of new music. That's the real challenge here, especially since to Mariah, like she said, it's the music that "comes first". Let's try to give her the benefit of the doubt. Again.

Article: Mariah Carey: critics say she is no Kim Kardashian (69,085)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

"Mariah Carey: critics say she is no Kim Kardashian". A year or so ago, I would have definitely considered that a compliment, but now that Mariah has dabbled in "reality TV", I guess it's not anymore? Hold up - are we actually referring to the same Mariah Carey we grew up listening to? Has it really come to this now?

The next way to go (69,004)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |

The more I listen to Starboy, the more I'm convinced that Mariah should take the alternative R&B route. It won't be such a jarring change because we know that Mariah, even at her most experimental, is still and R&B artist with a pop heart, so whatever she will come up with won't be as dark as what The Weeknd does. It may end up sounding more like Jhene Aiko's Souled Out, and if you haven't checked that out yet, then you should because it's awesome.

Love that track. Some people are slamming Starboy because it's The Weeknd's most commercial-sounding album to date. I personally don't mind if he moves away from the dark alternative sound of his earlier work. To me it isn't selling out as long as it sounds good.

Charmbracelet (68,987)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|

This will always be special to me as it is the first Mariah album I have ever owned (cassette). Some of my favorite songs on that album happen to be the most polarizing or neglected in her entire catalog, such as Boy (I Need You), There Goes My Heart (bonus track on some CD editions), I Only Wanted, You Had Your Chance, Yours, My Saving Grace and Lullaby. I also thoroughly enjoy the more revered ones: Through The Rain and its remix, Subtle Invitation, and The One. It remains one of her warmest and most humane-sounding albums, and showcases Mariah at her humblest and most relatable. I find myself playing this album more often these days, as it reminds me about a time when Mariah was much, much more likable as a person.

The hardest part (68,985)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
Is not that this has been the least sympathetic I am of Mariah since I have ever known her as a singer. The worst part is that when I go through through my posts since I started actually posting here, I realized just how much I have changed, too. Like many of you, I have been one of those really die-hard fans. Or at least I thought I always was. And to some extent I still somehow am. I also would defend her like there wasn't any other option. And if this sounds awfully familiar to you, it's because it's your story, too. It's like she's a completely different creature (yes, creature) these days. Seems like she has finally found the people who can indulge her every whim, and maybe she earned it after being with us for over 26 years, but if this is who she really is, then I'm not really sure if I can be ride-or-die for long. Sure, I'll still be looking forward to new music and smile if I hear her pull off (translation: scream, force) some vocal acrobatics, I guess that's second nature to me now, but I just find it so disappointing that she doesn't seem to realize and care anymore how much it pains us to see her sink to newer lows everyday. She owes us at least that much.

Edward makes a very good point. If there's anything 2016 has taught us about Mariah, it's not only that she has Kardashian tendencies, but also, more importantly, that she can be quite an attention whore. There, I said it. Mimi might as well be Me-Me.

Mariah's recent "lovelife" (68,909)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
There is just no angle where Mariah's not gonna slammed for in this new pic of her "relationship" with Bryan. If they're doing this as a publicity stunt for both of their careers, then I guess they gotta do what they gotta do, but it's still a bad look for them. If this is a way to get back at Packer then it's so overplayed and hella cheap so, still, bad for Mariah. If it turns out he's the reason why James and Mariah broke up then that's just sad, so again, bad for them. They just cannot win in this. I just hope Mariah doesn't go the Britney route and Federline this opportunist.
