BET Honors 2014 (41,695) by Billy from Greece

Can they make this performance - or at least the background screening - the official video for "You're Mine (Eternal)"?

Mariah Carey on Watch What Happens Live (40,279) by Billy from Greece
MC disses on Glitter, wrong single choices, Migrate being single-worthy, and more. She is on a roll!

Mariah and Barbra (40,179) by Billy from Greece
I'm so glad to see the picture of Mariah and Barbra together during MC's interview on the Today show. It must be from the first half of the 2000s. I was always wondering whether they have had any encounters (beyond the first marriage I guess). I love Barbra.

"O come all ye faithful" Christmas in Washington 2010 was fucking epically fantastic. What wrong did you find in that performance?

Tree lighting (40,111) by Billy from Greece
The first half of the song was pretty fine. In fact, it started impressively with the intro, especially in the "there is just one thing I need" part. That was a full, confident belt in "there". I think the key was too high, and there is no need for the song to be in the original key since she currently (and I stress the "currently") has a glorious mid/lower register. That's why I liked that she changed the "make my wish come true" (from the intro again) which at times it has been lipped. I know moments like in the climax makes us worry, but has anyone not heard her vocals in Australia, especially the improvisations? C'mon. It's not an either/or, all or nothing situation. It's just that she has a very sensitive voice, in addition to her ever-growing stage insecurity.

Last year - "Christmas Time Is In The Air Again" (2012) (40,064) by Billy from Greece

How gorgeous is Mariah in this and how awesome the interpretation? If they ever do a retrospective box set of Mariah with rarities a la Barbra's "Just For The Record", they should definitely include this performance. It is so good ol' Hollywood glam classic to be enjoyed by future generations.

American Idol appearances (39,903) by Billy from Greece
Apart from that horrendous turquoise dress and the accompanied hairdo that she wore at a time during the early auditions stage, Mariah looked stunning in most of the live shows. I've been looking at some of her appearances and everything is perfect. The guy who was doing her hair really got it on point in terms of how she looks her best. During the first live show in particular, where she wears a black dress, she is just exquisite head to toe. She was similarly breathtaking in the blue Donatella Versace dress that she wore on April 4. Great styling overall. Random, I know, but thought I should mention it.

Re: RJJ12 (39,892) by Billy from Greece
Although tastes vary, "The Art of Letting Go" is for me miles better than some of the songs you mentioned. "I Stay In Love" is to my eyes the most generic Mariah single as of yet, from a structural point of view as well as in terms of musicianship, where "TAOLG" really shines. Similarly, "Angels Cry", though very listenable/catchy and pretty as a whole, is "too" radio friendly, if I can say that. Finally, what may seem as a disadvantage to you, namely, the "squeezing of too many words into a line" that you mention, is for me the distinct aspect of the song, since it allows Mariah to almost scat and leads to a more complex style of delivery, which only showcases Mariah's ability for performances of high sophistication, albeit at the expense of radio-friendliness as some of you mention (although I don't necessarily agree with that either). Some lyrics about "kitchen windows" and deleting contacts, I'll admit, could have been revised, but they don't take away from what is a truly great track overall.

Re: clueey23 (39,835) by Billy from Greece
Thank you! Finally someone reacting to the "know-it-all" people. Apparently, there are too many shrinks here who can deeply and wisely read between the lines complicated, well-coded aspects of human behavior carrying a subliminal message of mighty importance foreshadowing a downfall about to overwhelm MC. For crying out loud.

Re: Walter (39,677) by Billy from Greece
Back in July 2005, in a promotional appearance to a German show, a fan asked Mariah if she would work with Walter again. Her response was a rather dismissive "nah", clearly cynical. I'm not saying that that's where she necessarily stands today too, but it is definitely a sign of what other people have also been supporting, namely, that their breakup was much more than just a fight and obviously goes deep.

Molly Meldrum 1997 interview (39,665) by Billy from Greece
Check out the full interview of Mariah and Molly Meldrum from 1997 prior to the release of "Butterfly", which is 40 minutes plus long. She is digging deep into the creative processes of the records. Molly asks her some really good, music-oriented questions. Parts of it have already been on youtube, but this one contains even more details, at least ones that I had not found before.

Hi Mika! Could you please let me know if the photograph of Mariah you're using here is available somewhere online? I know It's the cover of "Anytime You Need A Friend", but I'd like to find it without the title and name on it just like you have it. Thanks.

Re: hosts / Lead The Way (Bill) (39,474) by Billy from Greece
I must agree that they interrupted Walter several times, but this is part of the radio hosting process, "guiding" the interview or something. I'm sure they could be smoother. Not to mention that Pauly (the one with the glasses) made some quite bitchy comments about present-day Mariah. Still, I did not find them to be a "parody of gay people" as Bill from the UK suggested. They were just a real-life couple making inside jokes and references to Mariah's music, which is obviously an influence on the both of them. On another note, "Lead The Way" was indeed written during the "Butterfly" sessions but it was never meant for the "Butterfly" album. Mariah wrote it with the movie in mind ("All That Glitters" at that point), which she started developing around the same time. There is a hard-to-find European interview from late 1997 (after the release of "Butterfly") where Mariah talks about a song she wrote for the movie.

Walter Afanasieff on Pauly and Monks (39,462) by Billy from Greece
You need to hear this interview. Walter talks quite extensively about Mariah and she comes in and out of the interview throughout. I found it extremely interesting when he said that to him "Butterfly" (the album) is an unfinished record, with string parts missing, particularly in "Whenever You Call", which was his favorite. He refers to the infamous fight he and Mariah had and it is quite moving to see the regret that is still there. He also addresses the rumors of them working together again and apparently Randy Jackson had something to do with that. Just many interesting stuff. Check it out.

The horror (39,447) by Billy from Greece
Some posts here are just really, really disturbing. "So called accident"? Records of her admittance? Press "investigating"? Seriously?
